Lenovo has dropped the price for their newly released E480/E580 again. E580 with i7-8550U Was $1249 less than a month ago, and now $1199 delivered with coupon code DEALS. Update: with "API Leisure & Lifestyle Purchase Program", you can get it for $1139.03 delivered with this link. YMMV.

  • Intel Core i7-8550U (quad core, 1.8GHz with 4GHz turbo, 8105 PassMark)
  • 15.6" FHD IPS display
  • 8GB DDR4 RAM
  • 256GB M.2 SSD
  • AMD Radeon RX 550 2GB (benchmark — slower than GTX1050, but faster than GTX950m in ThinkPad E570)

E580 is a big upgrade from E570 with

  • Quad-core Kaby Lake R CPU
  • USB Type-C (for power as well)
  • Thinner bezel & weight reduction (2.1kg)
  • Backlit keyboard $50 option

Now I just wish Lenovo can bring 10-keyless keyboard back to their 15.6" laptops. External display support is also restricted to one single HDMI port (or via USB adapters).

E480 with similar spec is $1149 delivered with coupon code DEALS as well. Or less with student discount.

  • Not bad - would keep my eye out for the Inspiron 15 7000 over this though, especially the 7577 with the 1060 Max-Q

..if gaming performance matters to you anyway.

Hey Scotty, use this link to get it for $1,139.03. Adding in "/auapi/" after /en brings the price down by 5% for all lenovo products for some reason.

    • "API Leisure & Lifestyle Purchase Program" — sounds like part of some loyalty program. Interesting…

      • Yeah not too sure, doesn't seem to affect the outcome though, sale goes through perfectly at the reduced price.

        • It does look like it's a membership thing and costs $9.75/month. However Lenovo might not verify the membership but OzBargain "might" risk take-down request from API. I'll add that link to the main content — we'll see.

        • @scotty:

Good find, might be worth leaving it out then, wouldn’t want to risk it considering the good deals they give around here. May invalidate Cashrewards cashback too.

  • Arghh I would have jumped on this without hesitation if it's a 13-14"….

  • Anyone know if you would be able to claim the GST on this purchase back at TRS?
I believe that these laptops are imported from their warehouse in China (Informed by rep) and it mentions on the TRS requirements that goods that are purchased online and imported into Aus are not legible. The rep did mention that GST is included in the cost and I would be provided with an invoice.
Anyone got any experience when purchasing directly from a company like Lenovo?

    • You'll get a tax invoice from Lenovo showing the GST amount. So yes you can claim back at TRS.

      • Would the date on the invoice be on the day the order is placed or the day it's dispatched?

        • Since you pay for the laptop straight away, I believe the date of the invoice would be the date you made the order.

    • If u were to exclude thing import from Australia I don’t think you would be able to claim anything..
I believe you just need to have a invoice for the good by Ozzie business

now if only this was touchscreen :(

    • If only it's a little smaller too

  • only +100 for another 8gb ram

  • What is a 10-keyless keyboard?

    • +1

      Doesn't have a number pad.

And usually have centred trackpad. On keyboard with numberpad, the trackpad is shifted to the left.

  • DEALS coupon code doesn't seem to be valid.

    • +1

Looks like Lenovo has disabled the coupon. I'll mark this as expired.

  • Expected shipping date: Feb 27 :(

  • SCOTTY!!
Letting you know the deal is still active, on the checkout page you have to click a button to activate the discount and that will apply the code for the reduction! The deal will not last long (about 4 hours left or something like that)
