    good deal

  • +11

I was going to post this but I decided against it because there simply isn't enough stock for it to be considered a bargain available to everyone.
    There are only:
    50 WD 500GB HDDs
    50 Samsung 1TB HDDs
    50 Iomega 1Tb External HDDs
50 Iomega Select Portable 500Gb HDDs

    • As little as 5 units on some other items.

  • yeah true.. and u can only buy one.. unless u make multiple accounts i guess

  • that is a really good deal, but not 2010 Greatest Deal Ever, if it were it would all be FREE!!!

and also it is one of each per customer or just one in total???

    • i would assume 1 each per customer

  • +19

+1 for Mwave declaring how many of each item they have.

    • Don't they have to do that by law if they're selling so few? or are they only legally obliged to say there is limited stock?

      • +10

Catch of the day doesnt list how many they have ..

        • +9

they just show videos of boxes and claim they have lots of stock, but no-one ever gets anything (other than a server crashed message) on the good bargains.

        • +2

True, I think, it should me mandatory to show stocks to buyers to sense credibility.

        • +2

Yeah totally! COTD S U K when it comes to this!

on their crazy sale day thing; I wanted to buy that 640Gb portable Hdd for $29.95.. took me 40mins to finally load the page up, by that time they were 'sold out'

          THEN,
the next day they had a Catch-a-Thon listing the VERY SAME Hdds for $79.99! Sold-out my a$$!!!
a mate noticed they did the same thing with a digital camera and some other stuff..

  • -1

Ahaha. I hope their website survives the 12PM load this'll create!

I'll be ready to buy 3+1 items.

    • +1

Took 15 minutes to complete my order this Thursday. $15 HDD + $5 USB.

The website survived, but the load/wait times were terrible!

  • I cannot see this for this price > $39 Samsung SpinPoint F3

    • It isn't up yet.
The sale starts at 12PM tomorrow for some items and the HDDs go up on Thursday at 12

  • do their prices include postage? if not - how much is postage?

    • $17 to my postcode…

      • +1

yeah that pretty fail. for example the samsung spinpoint $39 + $10 postage = $49 which isnt much better than the cheapest price on staticice

can we pickup from their shop in auburn?

        • Yes, says so in their FAQ. It's in Lidcombe actually.

  • server crash ftw

  • +2

Hmmm, after all the negativity that crashoftheday gets here, I'm surprised these guys are going down the same path.

    • +2

Its a good way of getting more users to there site :) and growing the userbase. Its how catch of the day become so huge.. i remember when the catchathons used to be fine now they are crashathons…

  • Anything at all in the 2TB variety?

    • Yes, posting in a minute

  • i wonder if they have the servers to handle the load or will it be another COTD pressure cooker f-up.

    • will be slow but nothing like catch of the day… :) i'm guessing if your quick you'l get one

    • currently, loading their pages takes a fair while. laggy

  • +1

I'm not sure $499 for a 320Gb PS3 can be considered a great deal when you can pick one up for $487 with GT5 at Harvery Norman. 120Gb version for $299 ain't bad - but very limited stock. Good luck securing 1 of 20 available Australia wide.

  • That's cheap. Do they still charge you to pickup?

    • nope

  • +9

holy crap its $15 to ship a USB stick lol

  • 12pm and will be deep fried.

  • +1

remember that these are order online only. don't rush in store expecting to buy these deals!

  • +1

Somehow I am damn sure the shipping will kill the deals.

  • about the stock levels, what's the difference between "20 units only for sale" and "20+ units only for sale"? does the plus mean there's 20 and more as well?

    • probably 22/23 im guessing

  • can't buy any deal from them, always out of stock.

  • Anyone checked Mwave postage charges?

    For Micro SDHC card

    Shipping & Handling Fees
    Toll IPEC Road $16.63 inc.GST (approx. 1 - 2 business days)
Toll IPEC Express $18.75 inc.GST (* NEXT business day)
    AAE Road $15.93 inc.GST (approx. 3 - 4 business days)
AAE Express $21.25 inc.GST (* NEXT business day)

That's a big no deal for me, thanks.

    • Ha ha, what a joke isn't it. I got a sd card posted to me from UK for less than $5.

  • -5

The first page says $39 for Samsung 1TB hardisk, but clicking on it, the next page says $59. I wonder whether it will become $199 when checkout.

    That's cheating. Big thumb down!

    • +5

dude its starts at 12, thats when the prices go live

    • +1

Yeah, I think you missed the big "starts 12pm Thursday 9/12/2010" above it!

  • Not much of a bargain when postage kill the deals!

  • Site is starting to meltdown.

    • taken 5 minutes to load my shopping cart….

postage prices are bullshit anyways…. this is gonna be more fail than COTD

    • he he, the power of Ozbargain !!

  • It's past 12 yet the prices are exactly the same as normal for me, anyone else finding it to be like that too?

    • yep - as I said… FAIL :p

  • oh my, postage kill. I am outta here :(

  • FAIL…

I've been refreshing the Sony TV and it hasn't gone down at all. In fact, it was sitting at $1599 before 10am this morning then mysteriously jacked up to $1700. Hmmmm.

    • I noticed the same with the Logitech mouse.
Was $99 and this morning was $113.95.

I guess prices were jacked up to deter people from buying them ;)
But it was out of stock.
I think that's the problem and Mwave can't even get into their own servers to change the price and fix the quantity.

    • +1

Is it worth $1299 considering you can't claim the 3D & games/Playstation pack?

      • I wish I knew about this earlier.

  • I clicked on the $5 SD card out of curiosity, and it's back to $20.50. If mwave really want to be transparent, they would put sold out on the front page image, but of course that would turn away customers, right? Not going to bother with this further.

PS: I guess this is the new Internet marketing tactic, instead of bait and switch, we now have bait and run (out of stock).

  • prices did not change despite being 12.12 now, what are they trying to proove?

  • Some of the prices have changed, Red Camera is now $99 but the rest is still full price.

    • +1

Prices are getting rolled out, not all at once - TV is now on sale.

      • I see the KB and mouse prices have changed as well

EDIT: site is now quicker too… guess lots of people got pissed off and left already :D

        • Most things have gone to the sale price now, people need to stop complaining - was a smart move rather than over load the servers immediately at 12.

  • +1

Prices didn't change after 12pm, server slow to response, can't add to cart. Just like Crashathon!

    Epic fail.

  • Fail, none of the prices have changed. They won't let us go into the shop to buy them either :( (I guess that their shop would be packed otherwise…)

  • Well the price has changed and I've added the damn TV into the shopping cart, paying for it will be yet another game in itself :D

    • I've paid for it…..fingers crossed I will actually get it?

  • As mentioned, prices are changing / changed over now.
Nearly 40 minutes late is better than not at all I suppose O.o

  • All prices got updated at 12.28pm AEST. I was spamming the Logitech 510KB all that time.

I managed to get the Logitech 510 KB and a $5 8gb SD card.

Processed it all onto my VISA card and have got the confirmation email etc.

It is 12.47pm and I can still see the KB at AU$99.

FYI, shipping and handling was an additional AU$17.88 for me in Melbourne.

    • I didn't like the Credit Card "fee" as the shipping was already expensive.
So I did Bank Transfer and I hope that they can at least combine orders over the next few days into 1 order (even though I know I'll be gouged for shipping each time)

  • Got a Mouse and Memory Card :D
The shipping price doesn't change as Toll charges a minimum to ship.

Gonna try for a few HDD's and a USB tomorrow.

  • Just bought a Logitech MX518 for $39 and an ASUS ASUS PCI-G31 wifi card for $20

Managed to get postage for $10 which isn't too bad. Although got hit up $0.80 for using paypal :/

  • my bad, didn't notice about the date!

    • +1

If your near an MSY they have the Seagate 2TB HDD for $99 as well.

  • +2

The website is so slow it is unusable. You'd think they could invest a little more to insure they survive the busy season.

This isn't saying much for their service.

    • Absolutely. Their 1300 number has been setup NOT to be able to reach a living organism.

    • harddrives specials are sold out =\

      edit: neg the 1tb external 3.5" is still available @ $49.. the 2.5" 500gb is $69 though not $49 :S

      • is that all bought and paid for, or is that into shopping cart?
bought both $49 items 1Tb HDD and 500HDD for approx $117 altogether

  • After 55 minutes of trying I could finally check out and pay via paypal.

Got the Iomega 500GB HDD and 8GB flash drive for $73.40 delivered.

Edit: My order is "waiting to be approved". Wait and see I guess..

    • I got the same, but for $54 plus $0.90 credit card fee. Yay for living minutes from Lidcombe (but not actually living in Lidcombe! I'm in Homebush Bay).

  • i seem to have succeeded placing an order also and chose to pay with Bpay however there is no payment information on their website or in the email they sent me. whats up with that?

  • Holy crap this is going slowly. All I want is my RAM damnit

    • wth, RAM is on special

  • +1

Must use the same servers as COTD! Unable to see today's offers (Thursday) on the site. Irritating waste of my time. Surely they could use some sort of ballot system to allocate e.g. we send them an email and they select at random winners who get to buy the item. At least it would be an open contest then and not a waste of time refreshing the browser to see if I can get in.

  • I feel like I went through a shop, with long lines, people everywhere, but instead, it was through the internet, with pages not even loading and the web browser freezing.

After 1 1/2 hours waiting for the pages to load, my order was confirmed.

    Never again.

Are they running their website through adsl2 upload bandwidth?

    • wow 1 1/2 hours, i started @ approx 1pm and got everything done in 30 minutes
did you end up getting anything?

      • To be fair it was approx 1 hour.

        Started at around 11.50am.

I came early when the lines were long, you arrived late when the lines where short, if you put it in a shopping mall perspective.

Anyways, I have never seen a hdd with that size sell for so cheap, mwave just needs better internets.

    • with pages not even loading

      +1

    • flash drive $5
    • WD 500GB $15
    • 3'5 external hdd and 2'5 external hdd

I paid around $130 with shipping

  • i dunno what you are all on about. i just had to refresh the page once and the rest worked fine

  • Man, they slug you with an insane amount of shipping. How can it cost almost $20 to send a envelope sized packet of RAM?

  • Ran like a dog for me on my work PC, worked pretty good on my Next G phone, except the stupid page to checkout wouldn't render properly for some reason so I missed out :(

Note to self: Bring my Next G modem and laptop to work tomorrow!!!

  • I was so happy to have bought the 1Tb internal HDD around 12:30pm, checked out and paid through paypal after 30mins of hungry waiting, only to get an email at 5:30pm saying they got the money but no order despite me getting an order number. Refunded and a message to contact them if I still want the item. Of course I wants it! (but only at $39)

    • Email through and they sorted it out. I still got the HDD for $39 :)

  • deal started 11:55.

I am trying to get 120 gb ps3 and move starter kit.

  • hmm the ps3 shipping was free before the $299 now it's charging $18 and $24…

    • Yep, noticed that. Still waiting for checkout to loaad…
Pickup is close to me, so I don't mind

  • got the ps3!! :D

  • Got the PS3 in cart, Order has been confirmed and now hoping they don't cancel it. Took forever to add in my postcode for shipping.

  • Nice work guys :)
