  • Hey Rep just to confirm that this is also at 4g speeds and not just connected to a 4g network? You or your providers don't rate limit?

    • +1

No, ThreeUk restricts data to only 3G or 2G speed. No news of 4G speed with them. Good article which explains a bit of detail - https://3g.co.uk/guides/the-best-network-for-roaming-abroad

    • Hi there

If your using the SIM card in Europe and the UK you will get 4G to 3G speeds. However, 3g speeds in Europe are almost as fast (if not faster) compared to australia

Hope that paints a clearer picture.

  • +1

Hey - i'm going to Europe for 5.5 weeks - how do i tackle the extra ~1.5 weeks i'll be there?

    • Hi there jonnoyeo

You are more than welcome to purchase our top up vouchers online and we can provide you with the voucher before departure as they have a validity of 90 days which you can use to redeem within.

Additionally, you are more than welcome to use our 40% off top up code: TOPUP40

      Best Wishes.

You need to respond to this and/or my emails or I'll downvote and report for scamming

        • +1

"You need to respond to this and/or my emails or I'll downvote and report for scamming".

That's pretty rude to launch at a relatively long term deal poster on OzB that many people get benefit from. From what I see, Amanda puts in a fair bit of effort to help people here. I think she is overseas based (U.K I think) so times won't align properly with our day (if I'm correct). Maybe she's sick today, who knows.

          Disappointing ……

        • @jdr: No excuses. Stopped replying only a couple of hours after her post.

          Isn't the cheapest deal.
          Extra code doesn't work.
Her or the company doesn't reply to emails. This isn't a once off. If she is off the rest of the company can reply.

It is bad customer service all round.

        • @elitistphoenix:

"No excuses. Stopped replying only a couple of hours after her post."

Ok, but if she is in the UK then the last comment was maybe after midnight.

          "Isn't the cheapest deal".

Do you have a cheaper equivalent deal? That one you link as being $2-$3 cheaper works in less countries and has only 10% of the calling minutes. Hardly equivalent.

          "Extra code doesn't work."

The code for the sim or the code for the voucher? The code for the sim worked for mrmysterio I see. How does a problem with a voucher equate to being a scam? How much did you lose?

"Her or the company doesn't reply to emails. This isn't a once off. If she is off the rest of the company can reply."

Other than time differences, I don't really know about this one. Maybe it's a small business, no idea. Maybe they have other problems that impact the level of service they can give at times.

"It is bad customer service all round."

If you're unhappy with their service, that's fine. You shouldn't deal with a company that you are not happy with. Perhaps go order the cheaper eBay sim (but keep your voice calls short :) )

Point is, they've done nothing to you that warrants such threats or rudeness. Just go elsewhere.

I see one, maybe two people that had problems, I see others that were happy? So?

        • @jdr: Hi there I am so sorry for the delay but I have so much packed and we do in fact respond to emails I have been responding to emails all day yesterday and just came back to see ozb now, sorry, sometimes ozb doesn't notify me when more people respond to a thread.

@elitistpheonix Did i respond to your email regarding your voucher pin? I cannot disclose your personal information on ozbargain so i don't know who I am responding to.

Please email me directly: [email protected]

Again, my sincerest apologies for the delay.

          Take care

        • @So Easy Travel:

No problem, it wasn’t me that was trying to contact you. When I wrote “Disappointing……”, that was to eliteistphoenix, not you. I’ll be grabbing one of these sims hiring the next sale. Do you also have sims that work in UK and Ireland and have a call allowance to Australia?

Hi Rep. I've bought one of these 3 sim cards in the past and have not been able to activate some 'apps' because they are considered 'adult' in nature. To de-activate the adult lock, 3 insisted I present myself in person at one of their UK 3 stores, yet I was in Germany. So in the end, I was unable to use it for all apps. Do you have any solution to this?

    • +1

      What apps were these?

      • Yeah…..asking for …. a friend. :)
(But seriously, it would be good to know, cause Tinder could be referred to as Adult.)

        • +1

Correct - Tinder and Grindr for starters.. (so my friend tells me :)

        • +1

@power71: Wtf. Is this cause of the UKs Nanny State "won't someone please think of the children" BS?

        • @elitistphoenix: a bit that way I suspect.

    • Hi power71

I am actually aware of the three content restriction lock for adult related content, there is a way to disable this through the mythree app and directly online.

Did you happen to speak to a three customer support representatives regarding this ?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

      • Amanda
      • +2

I tried to de-activate this online, but alas, as you've mentioned in your terms, you must hold a UK credit card number to be able to do this. Then when I eventually got into a London store, I presented my passport and they turned around and again said they couldn't help me because the company insisted the unblocking of adult sites would require a UK credit card.

        • +1

Wow this is actually a deal breaker for me. I've been looking forward to these SIM's going on sale. Thank goodness for power71's….um entertainment choices ;)
EDIT: Found 3's webpage about all this: here. There's a section about verifying your age and you have to do a one-off charge of 99p (pence?), call them and provide CC details, or visit a 3 store.

So still seems like it's the same issue you had.

EDIT:EDIT: I guess you could use a VPN to get around this…maybe?

        • @Spectator: nope, their website does not recognise 'non-UK' issued credit cards. It seems the credit card is the identifier if anyone goes using the data to look at naughty stuff

        • @power71: No I mean use a VPN on the phone and access Tinder (for example).

    • I wonder if a VPN app would fix it?

      • nope - needs a UK issued credit card and presented in person or de-activated online using said UK issued credit card number

        • +2

Hi there power71. It seems like you have done extensive research into this, I can confirm with you however that one of our staff members used this SIM card in Indonesia in January and used a VPN to bypass the restriction.

Although I can ask our account representative at three if there is a work around to this.

I will keep you posted on this matter.

        • @So Easy Travel: any update ?

  • +1

Hi Rep, would you be able to confirm that you can meet the 1-4 business day for delivery? I am flying out in 2 weeks and this sim will come in handy.

    • +1

      Hi there,

Most definitely, I will be fulfilling orders in 30 mins so just put it in the order note that you will be travelling in two weeks time and I will be happy to send you the SIM cards through registered post signature on delivery hope that helps you out :)

      • Amanda
      • Hi Amanda,

I just placed the order and added the notes as discussed.

        • Hi Glassyan

please check your email for your tracking number it has just been sent and we organised express postage instead of registered post.

          have a lovely trip :)

        • @So Easy Travel:

Hi Rep, can you check your email please? I have received the tracking number but it still say pending after 3 business days and I still haven't received anything even though it is express post, so something seems to have went wrong. I tried contacting you on the website but haven't got a response.

OP - is there any restriction on length to activation?

I am going to UK/EU for 5 months later this year (September), is it possible to order now and activate later?

    • Hi ostrich

You most definitely can, the SIM cards have no validity so you can purchase them for your coming holiday.

  • Hi OP,

Can i buy this but activate the sim card in May when I am travelling to the UK/Europe?

    • Similar situation here, but I'll be arriving in Italy mid June for 32 days/

    • Hi there

      You most definitely can :)

The SIM card does not have a shelf life until you activate it or insert it in your phone !

      • Amanda
  • Hi Op,

Ill be leaving in September that should work, correct? thanks!

    • +1

      Hi there

Absolutely , they have no expiry date when unactivated :)

  • Not leaving for Vietnam for 3 more months can I just activate then?

    • Absolutely !

Just be sure to turn on your data roaming :)

      • Amanda
      • Do you have travel sims for use in Los Angeles and Las Vegas?

        • Hi there ,

The sim card works in the USA as well :)

          • Amanda
        • @So Easy Travel:

Thank you for the quick reply
what entitlement do I get when im using this sim card in USA

        • @W0rldtraveller: You will have access to 12Gb of data for use in the USA :)

Just be sure to turn on your data roaming!

          Best Wishes

  • Do you have any NZ SIMs on sale?

    • this can be use in NZ (son using it at the moment, but need voip, skype or whatsapp to make a phone call, good only for data)

      • Yeah, I need a NZ phone number though.

        Ah well :)

  • I'm travelling for 12 months - are there any issues with recharging this sim every month over that whole period? Will only be in the UK for 2 days of this period.

    Cheers.

    • Also - would it be cheaper for me to buy 12x sim cards and change them every month, instead of 1x sim card and 11x recharges?

    • Hi there

wow that is some serious travel overseas I am actually a bit jealous!

You can most definitely keep purchasing recharge vouchers from us as it will be easier for you to stay on the same number, however, if you ever need an emergency sim for any reason its always advised that you purchase maybe an extra one or two just in case anything happens to your service that is beyond our control.

      Best Wishes

      Amanda

  • silly question. If there is 2 of us traveling and we want to call/SMS each other then if we buy 2 of the sim cards then both our mobile numbers will be UK numbers and eligible for the free calls/SMS. Will this also work if we are in the USA?

    • +1

can only call and sms to UK no(so it's possible), more details plan is as follow : http://www.three.co.uk/feel-at-home/#dest

    • OP can you please confirm that having 2 sims will enable to call/text each other from the allocated minutes/text quota? even whilst outside the UK?

      • Hi there Ozbargainers

to answer your question simply - yes, the minutes do work for three to three numbers as well even if you were in the usa, so as long as the connection is between three to three numbers you will be completely fine!

  • Bought one for my trip to Europe in late March. Thanks OP!!

    • No problem :)

  • Hi there, @so easy travel. How long do I have to activate the Sim. Going to be in Europe (not UK) for 5 months. Recharges only last 90 days. But what if I buy multiple SIM cards?

    • There is no time limit to activate the sim, you'll find the rep has answered that several times above and in the original post.

    • Hi Mathans

You can continuously use the sim card for an extensive amount of time so as long as you purchase top up vouchers from us, the expiry period for each voucher is 90 days per voucher, so if you will be travelling for 5 months you will need to purchase 5 separate vouchers from us, otherwise, you can simply purchase 5 sim cards and swap them over each month if your not fussed at all about not keeping the same three number.

      Best Wishes

  • Hi there, @so easy travel, I get an error message when I try to apply the OZB35 code: "Your cart does not meet the requirements for the OZB35 discount code", departure date 02/06/2018

  • Hi, @so easy travel, pls. ignore my previous post - I have successfully ordered a sim. Thanks!

    • No problem at all :)

  • I'm off to UK and Republic of Ireland in April. I'll be getting one of these cards closer to then because that will cover all our calls within UK and ROI. I think we will also get another prepaid sim from a UK provider with maybe a GB or two of data (as a backup), and to give us two phones for communication for when we all aren't in one place, but mainly to get a large international call allowance to be able to call back to Australia. I was looking at the sim only monthly prepaid plans from Three but they don't seem to mention international call inclusions or rates.

Does anyone know a good option to get for this second sim role? Maybe there is only the PAYG sim plans where calls to Australia are about 3p a min (so about 20 mins per $1). Would appreciate any suggestions for a good option for calls back to Australia.

  • +1

I used one of these last year. The coverage is good but network speed is quite slow. Fine as long as you don't care about video streaming.

    • +1

Well apparently you can't get adult content anyway so.. there's half your streaming reasons gone :P

  • FYI this isn't expired

  • Hi @so easy travel,

    Hi,

I've ordered three - all in one 12GB - so easy international bundle plan 5 days ago and I received an email saying that my shipment was confirmed 2 days ago and no updates since.

I will be leaving the country in about 5 days' time and there are only 3 more business days during this period. I'm afraid that the sim might not reach by the time I leave.

I’ve emailed the team but there’s no reply. Could you please help?

    • Hi there delicious99

Could you please just email me your order details and I can follow this up immediately.
