ah the regrets when you waste time looking up if the gear fit 2 is worth buying instead of just buying it when it was still in stock
TL;DR yes but only if you buy it at this priceyes! i missed out.
I have used one daily for the last couple of months. Couple of notes:
1) it does lock up on occasion where it is either unresponsive or screen goes black. All you can do is leave it and it recovers after some time (maybe 10mins).
2) the floor tracker is totally innaccurate. Staying on a single level it shows 10 floors climbed within a couple of hours.
3) heart rate works acurately compared to Polar fitness watch but only if you are pretty much still. It is not happy if you are moving.
4) the band can come unlatched if knocked but it is not too bad.
5) screen is beautiful (colour & resolution)
6) If you choose to do a walking workoput it will always prefer to turn the GPS on your phone rather than using internal (could be pro or con) but will leave the GPS on on the phone even after stopping teh workout.
7) I have never really worked out what the calorie reading is actuall doing on the main face. I guess it is just showing your energy expenditure including your base metabolic rate. I am really only interested in how many calories burned for exercises. If anyone has a better idea of what it is showing I would be interested to hear.
8) Battery lasts better than 2 days (but I don't use the built in GPS).In saying all that I do really like it.

I would assume so as how else does it get a connection? 🤔
could you set it to only use the wifi connection instead?

GPS does not use phone data.
To some extent it does, it has to download the maps of the location if they have not been downloaded.
@Velathial: GPS location data does not need a map as it is just a set of co-ordinates (a GPS modules just spits out a text string of co-ordinates). If you actually want to display the loaction then yes you would need a map.
No it does not rely on data as it GPS gets location direct from satellites. I could have wifi & 4G switched off on my phone and it would still find position. Similarly if I was walking without my phone the watch would find location direct from GPS satellites as it has GPS built in.
Just takes longer using only satellite and no data as it can't use a a-GPS

I have had 4 of these. Brilliant when they work and much superior to fitbit. BUT reliability and battery life has been a huge issue.

Absolutely. Got mine today, very happy with the purchase.
Mine came repackaged. Perhaps a demo unit or returned unit. The original seals were broken and the plastic screen protector was removed and stick to the side of the box. Contents was all there but was clearly put back in the box by someone not at the factory. e.g. the charging cable was randomly rolled up into the box

That's disappointing :(. Is there any burn-in on the display? These use AMOLED screens so it may be easy to tell if it's a demo model.
No, no burn in that I can see. The display and band looks perfect. Although I had to do a factory reset to connect as it was previously set to connect to another phone.
It happens with Factory Scoops products from JB. 99% of the time though you do get a new one. You mustve got an ex demo display one. Does it have any signs of being used? If not it wouldve been behind a glass cabinet and its fine.

Yes. They shouldnt be shipping out ex demo stock advertised as new in the first place, even though they seem to do it 1% of the time with 'factory scoop' labeled products ordered from their website. Go in and demand a refund if youre not happy, you have every right to do so as a consumer.
Mine too. The box is clearly re-sealed, and charging cable rolled up by hand. However, the watch itself is just like brand new with screen/metal protective films on it at 3 spots. For $50something, I'm happy.
I didn't get a tracking e-mail (however I got an e-mail saying it was being 'picked').
Received it this morning at about 8AM - fingers crossed the rest of you guys get it too today :)
