  I have this and it is good.

  However …

  I had a problem connecting to my Wifi network.
  My WiFi security was "WPA2-PSK [AES]" - Xiaomi said that the connection was a Public network. And wouldn't connect.

  When I downgraded WiFi security to "WPA-PSK [TKIP] + WPA2-PSK [AES]", Xiaomi recognised the WiFI as a Private network and connected OK.

  Anyone set this up?
  Any thoughts?

    Have you upgraded the firmware?

    I know early on there was a problem with the AES library; was returning ValueError: Invalid key size (0) for AES whenever trying to connect to AES cipher PSK routers.

    They fixed this I thought? Though havent tested on 1.4.1_151.0143

      Firmware - do you mean the router or the Xiaomi?

        The Xiaomi Gateway.

        Go into the Xiaomi App, select your gateway, from top right, hit the … buttons, select cehck for firmware upgrades

        Is it 4.4.1_151.0143 ?

        However, it says firmware is up to date at 1.4.1_151.0143

        Do you think its OK to leave my WiFi security at the lower setting to use Xiaomi, or should I increase the WiFi security and remove Xiaomi?

        Any thoughts?

  Actually just received my kit today from gearbest and it only took 7 days with the free express shipping. Set up the gateway to play the police alarm when someone walks by the human sensor. Cannot wait for hubby to get home 😂😂😂😂

    I think these kits are awesome tbh. We use them at work as well, so often having to grab some :).

      I started ordering the sensors and stuff and couldn't find a deal on the gateway so bought the kit and good thing I did as nothing else has arrived lol is there any benefit on getting the kit instead of the individual items? Not sure what I actually need for the house…which camera do you recommend? The new aqara one (with the gateway) or the dafang one? :)

        The kit is just a bit cheaper than individual items and comes in a big red box, I'm quite fond of the box.
        Cameras, preference for me is the dafangs over the aqara, though my aqaras havent arrived yet, so bit undecided.

        I've played with a couple hundred dafangs and quite impressed. Low failure rate as well.
        Avoid the xiaofang obviously due to new firmware blocking outside of China.

        Cool, thank you for the recommendation. Will wait for a code for the Dafang as missed the last one 😭 might just get an aqara to test out and extend the gateway range.

        Have to say, was quite impressed with the packaging of the box lol and was so surprised by how small everything is! The window sensor is ridiculous lol

        @KupoHo: The gateway range is pretty good; but no harm in having a 2nd gateway especially if its a camera.

        I think when the prices go down on the airconditioner plug/gateway it will be good, though I think most aircons use 15A not 10A earths (at least mine does).
