Kogan 45W 3 Port USB Charger (Type-C PD) $34.41 Delivered @ Kogan eBay

PICK5

I was trying to find a cheap USB-PD charger with an Australian plug for my Dell Inspiron 13 7000 and came across this, which seems to be compliant. Also a good option for those wanting to charge their Xiaomi ZMI QB820 at the fastest supported speed.

It seems as though it's a new product as I've been searching for a USD-PD charger for a while and haven't discovered it before. The only other similar charger I've found is the $89.95 Belkin MIXITUP 45W USB-C Home Charger.

Note that it's 45W max, so I doubt it could charge a device over USB-PD at 20V/2.25A if there's anything connected to either of the USB-A ports.

    Kogan.. yuk.

    • Perhaps you'd prefer to pay almost three times the price for the Apple equivalent?

      • +1

Apple one is designed for the Macbook Pro, this one isn't.. And you also need to shell out an extra $59.95 to attach an USB-A

      • Take it easy man, my disgust isn't aimed at you, but at a company like kogan. But if you like dealing with such a company, cool. More power to you 👍

      • I agree with Nivlac. Bought one a few weeks back. Supplied USB-C cable is rubbish (wouldn't make proper connection with contacts and therefore charge). Using my Blitzwolf cable is better, but still not the perfect. YMMV. Wish I'd bought the Xiaomi one instead.

        • so the Xiaomi one is coming with a good cable?

Price hasn't changed since the 22nd of November according to Price Hipster, and this seems to be the normal price. Better off creating a new Kogan account and using your free $10 referral credit to purchase this.

    If you can't be bothered doing that, then it's still slightly cheaper on their eBay stores with the code PICK5;

  • Finding anything under 30w on the USB-PD side of things is hard for this price.
Will have to get one, plug it into my USB voltage/current machine and my Macbook Pro and see if it can really do the 2,25A@20v!!

FWIW, this Aukey charger was on sale with 20% off (~$35AUD) a few weeks ago:
    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B074C2VZ2T/ref=ox_sc_sfl_t…

It does 46W over the USB C PD, plus 10.5W over USB-A.

This one was also on sale with 17% off (~$30AUD):
    https://www.amazon.com/AUKEY-Charger-Delivery-MacBook-Samsun…

That one does 30W over USB C PD, plus 18W over QC3.0.

I'd probably go with one of those over the Kogan, if the 45W is indeed shared between the three ports. Non-australian power plug though, so will need an adapter.

None of those use an Aus plug though.

      • yep, that's why I said: "Non-australian power plug though, so will need an adapter."

(Also why I said "For What It's Worth" - if you don't want to use an adapter, then it's not worth much!) ;)

There are plenty of these chargers with non-Australian plugs for similar/cheaper prices. The appeal of the Kogan charger is the Australian plug.

Also, that 30W version isn't comparable nor useful for those wanting to charge most USB-PD compliant laptops.

          @Comfortably Numb:

The appeal of the Kogan charger is the Australian plug.

Yep sure, hence why I acknowledged that limitation of the ones I listed. For anyone who doesn't care about that, I was just providing another option. (Personally, I care more about the charging specs of the ports than the plug, but each to their own obviously!)

Also, that 30W version isn't comparable nor useful for those wanting to charge most USB-PD compliant laptops.

Again, just listing another option that may be suitable to other people's needs. (Not everyone needs to charge a laptop, so for some, 30W may be sufficient.)

I didn't neg the deal, just provided other options. Relax. :)

Oh, did not even see that part lol. My bad.

  • Anyone know if this is compatible with Apple USB-C Multiport Adapter?

  • This charges my Dell XPS 13 9350 (and my OnePlus5) without issue (and I can charge another USB device at the same time), it includes a USB-C PD cable, and is only $65 at Centrecom:

  • I bought one of these Kogan adapters back in November and it's been great. I've only really used it to charge the ZMI battery I bought at the same time, but I've had no issues with it. The only thing I would have liked is if it came with different plug adapters for other countries as it's clearly designed that way, it just ships with the Australian plug only.

  • Anyone know if this is safe to use to charge the Switch (USB C to USB C)

    • I highly doubt they are selling something that is going to fry your switch.
      It meets the spec yes,

      • Yeah sorry I meant more spec wise over dodgy gear that'll blow up or something. Cheers :)

  • http://www.nekteck.com/product/ul-listed-usb-c-charger-nekte… (actual purchase is via Amazon US)

Not a well-known brand (by me anyway) but the USB-IF certifications seem legit (check http://www.usb.org/kcompliance/view/CertifiedUSBPowerBricks.…)
    60W USB-C Power Delivery + 3 USB-A (12W total) and a swappable figure-8 cable and an included USB C to C cable.

Got mine for ~$42 AUD delivered. There's a 15% off code when you sign up to the newsletter.
    Hope this helps, OP!

  • I've got one of these to charge my USB-C tablet. Haven't had any issues. Didn't use the supplied usb-c cable though. Used the Amazon basics one.

  • I bought the ~80w version of this ($49 from memory) and it has been faultless so far and the included cable will charge my MacBook Pro the same as a normal charger.
