You can get it cheaper from umart.

Your correct, it’s on pre-order though so might have to wait a bit. Could try and match @ OW by trying your luck.

      • I priced matched at OW, Apple TV from Umart.

Does UMART charge GST? Travelling soon and was hoping to buy two pairs, wonder if I can get TRS.

      • Yes its a local shop so will charge GST

    • +1

      Also at iFrog
      http://www.ifrog.com.au/Apple-Airpods-Wireless-Earphones-MME…

But its OOS, I did manage to pricematch with HN before when they were doing the AMEX promo and the rep forgot to add shipping so people might have luck as well.

    • Price matched at OW, $179.55, we don't even have Umart in SA.

  • Good find… don't forget Cash Rewards for 3.2% :)

Ah bugger… keep forgetting that! Thanks for clarifying

        • I still got the cashrewards tracking email after purchase :D

  • These are really good. Enjoy.

    Highly recommend this product.

      Why?

      • would also like to know! high-quality sound? $200 seems expensive for wireless iPod headphones

        • -1

$120 of that is pretty much because its Apple.

Although design is far superior to those soft buds you need to jam into your ear sockets mm away from your brain…

I auditioned these in an Apple store with my own music and found them very bass heavy compared to reference earbuds like Shure, but it depends on your taste - they're less bass heavy than Beats but that's not saying much. I wasn't impressed with the quality of the sound compared to $200 wired earbuds. Plus the lack of volume controls really reduced their appeal for me. I decided not to buy them.

I've had a bunch of wireless headphones, the last before this was a pair of Jlab Epic2s.. I've had a similar problem with most of the wireless earphones I've tried.. latency / drop outs etc. My experience with the Airpods has been very different.. No connectivity issues at all, and I've actually walked all around the house with the phone up stairs in an office, and it still worked.

The connectivity is brilliant. Pairing them with an iPhone takes all of 3 seconds. The sensors that allow you to use one buds at a time, or have it automatically pause when they're removed are great.Never having to worry about any cables etc gives you a surprising amount of freedom.

The sound quality is good.. They're don't have as much bass as the beats options, but the rest delivers. I use them quite a lot for work calls, and the quality is excellent for voice as well.

The case is sturdy, as are the actual Airpods, and the case charging gives them a good amount of runtime. The quick charge from the case means I've never actually run out of batteries once since I started using them.

        I'd happily recommend them.

        • Ditto what Praeto said. Had mine for about a year and they are brilliant. Work great with Android phones too.

Are they the best sound headphones ever? No, but they are more than good enough for listening to music, podcasts or watching movies/TV when on the go, and the exceptional battery life and reliability are hard to beat. I've never had sync issues or dropouts with my pair with the iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone X or Huawei Mate 9.

      • I won't say they are super good, when it comes to sound but when it comes to convenience, they have no match. I have Bose QC35, Bose Soundsport Pulse and Airpods and when it comes to listen to music in the office, I prefer Airpods.

  • This or Powerbeats 3?

      I’ll let you decide. :-)

    • Depends. What will you be using it for?

Anyone know if JB Hi-Fi will price match?

    • Yep, I've had them price match before. Otherwise HN will also price match.

    • +2

Yes - I rang and JB HiFi matched the Umart price ($189) so I had two saved for me which I just picked up.

    • +1

JB Helensvale beat UMart price by $1

  • Thanks OP, mine weirdly processed with free shipping, regional NSW…

anyone have these fallen out whilst on a packed train?

  • +2

Bought $40 wireless earbuds from ALDI and they are awesome, was considering the Airpods before that. Does anyone know why these are superior to the Aldi ones except they are Apple?

    • +6

integration with ios is pretty cool, automatic pairing and battery indicators etc. There's also a 'find my earpod' feature

      • -1

It would want to at $100 per ear.

    • +3

Aldi ones have a lot of latency making them bad for video, but I think these have a lot less latency

  • Best place to get a pair is the good guys campbelltown, they still have 10 pairs in stock, checked all stores TGG in city but all ran out. Goood luck

  • +1

Whats TGG's return policy if I try them but don't get on with them?

    • +1

why down voted?! thats a legitimate question. Apple has a 14 day no quibble policy - I'm not sure how I'm gonna get on with them for exercise/running

    • +1

Apple Stores will also price match :)

  • At the GG try them before you buy!

  • Has anyone managed to get Myer to price match?

    • Yes I've price matched at Myer Doncaster. I was half expecting them to say sorry it is below their cost price, but they came through.

      • Thanks that is promising - the below cost price is their general spell,

  • -6

    what a rip
