Why?…. I though they were rich already. Australia is shit. I'm leaving. Time to go back to my garbage bin

    • +9

The volunteer services like RFS, CFA and SES are unpaid roles

      • +3

        Excluding those.

        • +7

I think you'll find there are far more volunteer members of the emergency services across Australia than paid ones.

        • +10

          @Owl:
Yeah those should be rewarded 50 eneloops. I respect them

        • +9

And not all doctors drive BMWs. Some of them prefer Audi and Lexus for their weekday car.

        • +9

@AustriaBargain: Majority of the doctors i know drive Mercedes. (I am a professional patient)

      • -5

        Why do you say that?

        • +2

Oh, apparently it is just a self-evident truth that needs no evidence.

    • +6

Wow, you are a self entitled horrible person if that comment isn't sarcasm.

    • +6

Is this serious? Half of those professions earn a very average wage for being university educated

    Does a PhD count?

    • +1

Aren't you a Doctor? Philosophiae Doctor?

    • -1

So the PhD may finally pay up then?

Side note: You know a real PhD by the way they correctly capitalise the initialism.

    • +1

Works if you're a postdoc. i.e. you have a university staff ID card ;)

  • +7

Where is the free entry for investment bankers, management consultants and lawyers?

    • +3

They are the real MVPs of society. No sarcasm. M&A deals, capital raisings and other investment banking products are necessary.

      • No sarcasm. True that.

      • +4

One of the guys I work with did 5 years of MC before med. I'll show him this and ask him why he decided not to be useful to society any more.

    • +1

Heck what about Politicians and Parking Rangers? Heroes everyone of them.

      • +3

There is no mention for the humble engineer.

        Suppose this quote holds true:

"When you do things right, people won't be sure that you have done anything at all.".

        • +1

          Ahh the "humble engineer".

I feel as a former mech eng that maybe engineers are expected to build our own. I am sure a hydraulic engineer would be happy not having to do drains and sewers for awhile.

    • Because apparently Doctors are much more worthy.

  • +5

Reported to the mods for occupation list not including the most essential:

    OzBargain professional.

    Poor form Savas.
    I expected better of you.

    • +3

      Free entry to HN.

  • +3

You will probably need a doctor and a nurse when you are swiming in that much piss.

    • +2

That's why you have educational staff on the list for beforehand ;)

  • -4

is this a good deal for anyone else apart from
    Australian Emergency Services,
    Doctors, Nurses and Carers,
    Defence Force Personnel,
    Teachers and Educational Staff.

    ????????????????????????????

    • +2

      No, and bettime story!

      • +1

        NO.

  • +2

I went last year and it was good.

And so begins the guessing game of which profession you are?

    • +2

      Student

    • +1

      Maybe he's "friends and family"?

      • +1

Let's not ruin the fun. Dr Savas?

        • +3

          It's actually dr Papadopoulos

  • -1

  • +1

I wonder what professions would be on the Community Villain list.

    • +9

  • +1

Not worth an ADO in my opinion. Maybe if you're at blacktown, westmead or nepean

  • +1

Great deal but should be free for police. The more police around, the better. Free security!

    • +4

Umm… the Police fall under "Emergency Services".

      • +1

Sorry, I meant free all year round.

  • -1

Most hilarious thread ever seen. Well done boys and girls!

  • -7

How is this not blatant discrimination and isolation of other professions in the community? As if those services mentioned in the deal don't get paid enough already. Or perhaps we should believe their spruiking union cronies that would have us think they're all living below the poverty line lol.

    • -1

It certainly is discrimination - but there's nothing illegal about discriminating on the basis of profession.
If there was, half the women in nightclubs would be locked up! :-)

    • -1

      I agree

  • Impress me wet n wild. actually open more than 3 days out of 7 in the week!!

    not every1 works a M-F 9 to 5 job.

"season pass" they should call it a "long weekend pass"

and no i am not eligible for this freebie and complaining just making a general comment. you can go on the website and buy a season pass right to end of checkout and beyond no specific mention of when the park is open unless you click on the operating hours

its not even spelled out in the Terms & Conditions of Purchase & Use.

  • -5

Teachers are community heros? In whose fevered imagination could that ever be the case? One could call them a lot of things, but hero isn't one of them.

    • -2

+1. And these days too overly occupied indoctrinating our kids with leftist BS.

      • -2

Yep, you only have to talk to them to see that they are rabid lefties who can't get a real job so spend their time brainwashing kids. Most of them can't even dress themselves.

        • -1

Modern Left is far from rabid. Well organized due to fast tech adoption, extremely socially adept (as in the media form), ppl networking capable and highly propaganda orientated. Can't even walk down to the local train station without seeing a poster on any given random street pole for the next activist/Socialist/quazi Communist rally. Many unions nowadays are as good as in bed with the left (funding the mental Getup campaign anyone?), and the teachers union is up there with the best of them. You really think none of the Socialist preaching is going to filter down to our kids? Lol, its about growth not death.

  • +1

Can anyone confirm if education admin get cheap entry with evidence eg payslip from tafe nsw?

  • +4

    Um, no love for Engineers?

Who do you think designed that theme park and rides?

    /spewing

  • +3

Seems Wet 'n' wild don't think Pharmacists are an import part of health. I mean we only make medicine and advise other health practitioners of best practice and generally catch their mistakes. Oh and for a 5 year degree, were one of the lowest paid. Oh well picked the wrong profession I guess.

    • +3

      Which profession did you pick?

  • I teach my Son occasionally. Do i qualify as 'Teacher'.?

  • +1

Went on saturday soo crowded it isnt really worth it even if it is free with waiting over an hour for a slide that goes for 30seconds
