They have two separate areas for keeping these. One doesn't have any. The other has heaps.

Tried LSD batteries once. My charger had a bad trip. So i stopped using. Others have reported a pleasant experience. YMMV

    • You'll go further if you lick them.

    • +2

Must have been the Brown Eneloops

    • My charger had a bad trip.

Not sharing the trippiness with the lonely house breaker box? That rarely gets a flip.

      • That's too dark!

  • +2

Has anyone ever found them at Richmond (Melbourne) Ikea? I always see the 1000 mAh ones and not the 2450. It says they are in stock on the app but never been able to find them.

    Thanks!

    • +3

I've bought some there in the past but for the last 6 months they seem to always be out of stock on the floor.

      • +1

Yea I know right, been there 3-4 times the last few weeks and never seem to be able to grab them.

    • +2

The app is usually really good with stock levels, I just checked and it says out of stock in Richmond and expecting new stock to arrive on the 10th of Feb.

      • Really, I actually check the app quite often and it shows as being in stock but when I visit I never manage to grab them :(.

    • -3

I bought 55 packs there 2 weeks ago. They had about 100 packs total at the time.

      • But why

      • +1

LOL maybe that's why they are gone!

    • +1

I went there and bought a pack of the 2450 ones about 2 weeks ago. They were out of stock before that but if you keep checking they're bound to be back in stock soon.

      • +1

Yea that's my strategy, lucky I live nearby and someone in the family usually needs to visit Ikea LOL, gives me a chance to check out the batteries.

    • +1

The Richmond Ikea seems to be the only ikea with stock level issues I've found. Very hit and miss with a nunber of items. I got 3 packs once and ditto, never seen them since. Bought a few packs from other Ikeas on travels. Heaps of the 1000MaH ones at Richmond (why even bother stocking those!)

      • Yup fully agree with you there, It says in stock and you go there and nothing but the 1000's.

I actually thought that maybe they moved the 24's somewhere else and looked around the entire area but couldn't find any!

  • +4

    You had me at LSD

  • IKEA North Lakes QLD has heaps in stock. Bought them yesterday. AA and AAA varieties.

    • Thanks mate, I'll be there raiding soon

  • Has been $8 for a long while …

    • Hasn't been posted on ozbargain though. Thought a update would be nice.

      • +2

Pretty sure it has been but even if not, maybe that's because everyday usually aren't posted as bargains ;)

        Miniatured Nintendo products excluded :P

These are decent batteries but anyone doing large orders of these (say 20+) should instead be waiting for a Turnigy deal instead to maximise value on shipping.

  • Are you the real broden? ^^

    • -1

      How can I answer?

  • Why excuses SA and WA? I thought SA and WA are under Ikea now, and not franchisees

  • Are the AAA ones eneloop pros?

from what I can gather only the AA ones are.

    • +1

The AAA ones I have tested to a capacity more similar to eneloop pros if that helps.

  • so sounds like 2 dollars off a pack? is it worth the drive?

    • Personally unless you need to use them now or soon, it;s not worth the drive there.

  • Delivery for me is $159.00 for x3 packs. What the?

    • I believe they only use delivery trucks and don't send through the post

      • Is this why delivery is so cheap for small yet heavy items if you live near an ikea? I ordered some iron lawn furniture and it was like $12 delivery, even though it was rediculously heavy (delivery guy left it leaning against the door and it was so heavy we couldn’t even open the door to get to it).

  • These or Aldi ones?

    • These are much better! (Check out the review OP linked.)

  • -1

    How about Coles vs IKEA?

    • +9

Coles is more for buying groceries, where Ikea mainly sells furniture.

  • -3

Ikea is shit well that family members they had in wa you used to get vouchers emailed first of each month with discount off certain spend.it could be $15 off $99 spend $35 off $175 spend was always different. I used to enjoy this was was buying a lot of billy bookcases and detolf units.
But someone said wa was going to be part of Sweden ikea as in east coast on here did they not do this ages ago hence why these vouchers stopped.not only that the detolf units went up in price.
I have no idea what else went up in price as I was only buying these three things so myself honestly I think it was better when it was a franchise.

    • +6

      What?

    • LOL I love a good rant. +1.

      Billy Bookcase is awesome!

  • Wonder if building a house out of these connected to each other if a good idea.
Might run them connected through the ground and connect to a local school socket or something too; then feed it back into the grid until the batteries have been paid off.

    Someone get me a shovel
    and beer!

    • Star with the beer first :)

  • No longer excludes SA?

  • Is Ikea suppose to be pronounce as Eye-Key-Ah or E-Key-Ah?

    • +2

Must be strong stuff you’re smoking to make you think it’s e key ah.

      • +1

Good one. I'm going to say that to the person who attempts to correct me by saying it should be call E-Key-Ah

    • +1

It's pronounced e-Kay-ah. No one in Australia pronounces is correctly. :)

      • +1

Wikipedia says it’s pronounced “/aɪˈkiːə/”, so that settles it.

        • +1

          Wikipedia isn't always correct.

          https://www.google.com.au/amp/s/www.nbcphiladelphia.com/news…

My source is an actual official ikea video as well. I spose if you consider it an "English" way and "Swedish" way either can be right.

        • -3

          @Lunawinter:

I pronounce it EYE-KEY-YAH…. because I live in Australia not Sweden. And with a sound grasp of the English language, that's the only way to say "IKEA" here in Australia.

People in Sweden or anywhere else can call it "to-may-toe" or "tom-ah-toe"… but here, it's "Eye-Key-Yah".
Trying to say it like a Swede when you aren't just makes people look at you like a try-hard.

How do you say Hyundai? I hope it's "HI-OON-DIE".

        • -1

          @UFO:

Thats good for you, lol. I pronounce it "the Australian way" myself, doesn't change the fact that it's incorrect. He asked a question and I answered it.

  • +7

Think IKEA should rename these as
    enäklööps

    • Live up to your handle and register the name to sell to IKEA.

I often joke that IKEA chooses appealing names like Bløb, Snöt, and Färt.

    • +2

This one is my favourite. Appropriately priced too.

  • +2

I bought a couple of packs of the Aldi ones 1 pack of AA and 1 pack of AAA and tested them out on our eneloop fast charger and they worked fine

I'll grab a couple more packs next time I'm in there

  • Shame they're the usual 1.2v instead of 1.5v. They'd be worth buying then.

    • +3

You'll never find a 1.5V NiMH though. You're pretty much saying NiMH batteries aren't worth buying.

    • In case you didn't do highschool chemistry, or weren't paying attention, the voltage depends on what the battery is made of.
E.g. There's other metal combinations that give 1.5v, but they're called non-rechargable. Nickel-Cadmium had a higher voltage and was rechargable, but didn't last many recharges or hold its charge.

      Otherwise, what @Skexis said.

  • If anyone is interested there are cheap USB chargers at IKEA as well for $3.99

    https://m.ikea.com/au/en/catalog/products/art/50303636/

  • $159 for service fee… dafaq?

    • Think of it as a flat fee for as much as you can fit in a truck.

  • Had these for over a year now, they don't hold power as long as the eneloop when they're a bit old, but still worth it.

    • Ughhh!!!

    • +2

I think the kids in my house prefer the Hobby King ones, the LADDA ones mysteriously end up in the bin despite them knowing they are rechargeable…

      • Hahaha nice.

      • +1

It's all because Ledda ones look plain white. And. Not pretty enough. No frills go to the bin

    • However compare to Chinese Eneloops they are better.

Only Eneloop pros hold power better than both of them. So Ladda is fine

      • Are you talking about when they're fresh or when they're a bit old? Because I'm talking about when they're all a bit old.

        • When they have aged of course

  • So LADDA is the new Eneloop?

    • Got me sold on that premise… next battery purchase will be LADDA to at least give them a go.

  • Picked up 4xAAA and 2xAA at Rhodes Ikea today.

  • Will give it a go, it cannot be worse than the Kogan ones.

    • I think you're the first member to ever mention Kogan rechargeables, lol.

  • -1

How do these compare to eneloops?

  • +1

reaching 200 upvote now, going to get a set to pair up with my other enveloops!

    • Noticed that he used the Ikea Storhogen 12x AA battery charger for $40. Thoughts on this?

  • -6

Standard price, deserves a neg as he should know better than to put standard price items on ozBARGAIN..

This is afterall oz-bargain, not oz-normalanydayoftheweekprice

OP posted this 20 days before you joined and your first and still only comment is to criticise it after it received 217 plus-votes and 0 negs?

      • -2

Does that mean the genuine criticism is unfounded? Why does the time I joined and the upvotes from (apparently) fans of brodenit have anything to do with my comment or the validity of this 'deal which is quite obviously NOT a deal'?

I obviously saw the 'deal' 20 days after I signed up and thought I would say something because it seems apparent to me that long time ozb members should really know better than post standard prices for things passing them off as 'bargains', or have I missed the entire point of this website? Is it is just popularity contest now is that what this place is all about?

        • deserves a neg as he should know better than to put standard price items on ozBARGAIN..

  • for those not near an Ikea, is the Coles one better than Aldi?

    • +1

According to CHOICE testing, Coles batteries scored higher than Aldi by a small amount. Mostly due to test scores on the no. of charge/discharge cycles in the test.

As to capacity, the Coles claimed 2200, tested 2291. The Aldi claimed 2400, tested 2244.

      • Cheers mate, making my mission to never purchase another disposal battery again. I read somewhere that in the US alone, tens of millions of batteries end up in landfill

  • Coles one seem good as well, a lot easier to get to than IKEA, and Aldi never seems to sell them, been to 4 Aldi's and not one pack of batteries.
    4 batteries in a pack for $7 ($1.75 each)
The only chargers that I can find that Coles sell are Duracell and Energizer which are a little over $30…
Any cheaper alternatives for chargers that are compatible with Coles batteries or are they all a similar type of battery that will all work with each other?
Preferably something easily accessible to buy.

  • Price has gone back to normal.

  • I know - just paid $9.99 for AA pack - no family discount either.

But as some have mentioned Richmond IKEA is a pain to find the batteries in stock. By the time I got there over half were gone.
