As an ozbargainer, my husband stopped buying me flowers, but plant in the pots. Soil from Bunnings $5/4 pots, pot $0(Picked from the street), flower $0 (cutting from friend) + Water (may be $1 per pot per year?). $1.25+0+0+1 = Total cost $2.25 per pot. As a wife of an ozbargainer, I use the rose petals to make rose water for facial and to make tea. Win-Win.
p.s. If anyone want to do the same without getting slap in the face, make sure you make it sounds good by saying this way she can see your effort/love every time when she goes to the backyard.
