Kathmandu is already too pricy that atleast 50% discounted price make sense imo.

Provision that you're not stupid enough to buy anything that is not at least 40% off then you typically get a good deal in Kathmandu. They have a sale at least 360 days of the year so just don't walk in on those other 5 days.

    Kathmandu sell eftpos gift cards?

  • When I click on Where to redeem it only lists Sydney stores.

    • Lists Brisbane stores for me in the app. It’s all stores, except outlet.

      • I think theres an easy way to work around that. Gift cards

    • "Offer valid at Australian locations and website only."
It lists stores nearby. Sydney is probably the default location.

Not worth it even if they have their usual 20-30% off. Only $20 cashback.

Kathmandu rrp is 50% of listed rrp. So the real sale are when it's 60% off or more. Better off at Mountain designs or paddy pallin

    • Paddlin the school canoe

      • +1

        That's a paddlin

  • Dying brand

    • I've read that they're a very socially responsible and 'sustainable' company, and their materials are made from recycled bottles (aiming for 0 landfill waste), and their manufacturing is in NZ and not China so all of these things add greatly to their costs. They seem to be doing well in spite of their high prices. I'm not sure how long they'll continue to be 'responsible' if they were a publicly traded company being run by someone who has to answer to shareholders though. They operate as though they're being run by the Greens who don't give two shits about costs.

    $20 off $160 is a 12.5% discount.
If Kathmandu runs a 50% off sale like it did before, then stacking would result in a maximum1 discount of 56.25%.

    1. This can be obtained by purchasing item(s) worth exactly $3202, 50% off brings it down to $160, then AmEx takes a further $20 off. So $140 for $320 worth of items.

    2. If the $320 is already discounted (for example a clearance line) and the 50% off applies as well, then potentially >56.25% off RRP.

    • From past experience, Max discount at Kathmandu is 70% off.

      • In that case then, stacking Kathmandu 70% off with AmEx $20 off $160 would result in a massive 73.75% discount.

        • An extra 3%, that's good for an OzBargainer.

(especially since it's not hard to use this credit card if you already have one and if were already planning to buy something from here)

  • Does Kathmandu have high margins, or is their stuff really expensive to make?

    • Not just high margins, really really expensively outrageous margins.

    • It's their sales strategy, make people think they're getting a great deal (I'm only paying $99 for a $250 jumper!!!). Also makes their products seem better quality if customers think they're usually that expensive. Happens across most industries, just not usually this blatant.

  • Note not valid at outlet stores !!!

  • Piss weak $20 over $160!
