How do these compare to https://www.bunnings.com.au/hozelock-12mm-x-25m-2-in-1-compa… ?

Is it possible to get these tangled still when retracting?

    • +2

      Hi,

The Hozelock ones are a manual wind in one where you turn the handle to bring the hose in.

Our ones are an Auto Retractable reel.

I've been using one at home for about 2 years now and haven't had it tangle on me.

It has an auto feeder to distribute the hose across the drum.

      • Great, thanks.

      • +3

Hoselink are your top of the line home reels, but honestly I'd rate the quality of ours as similar.
We offer the 2 year warranty because we are confident in them.

        • What's the warranty on fittings or is it also 2 years.

        • @rack: Also 2 years

  • Any one got a photo of this installed on a wall?

    • +3

If no one else can help, I'll take a photo for you when I get home tonight.

  • Would also be curious to see it installed please.

Also is $99 the usual price (so saving of $21)?

    • +1

      Yeah usually $99+freight.

      • +1

Seems like shipping is already free without the code?

  • +1

I'm interested in this - you seem quite confident in the quality. Is there a shorter version available, like 10-15m ? I like it but it's a bit big for my tiny courtyard

    • Yeah the quality is excellent!
And sorry just the 20m ones.

  • How would this stand up to the elements if it was mounted in a fully exposed position? I’m in Canberra so there would be temps from -5 up to 40 degrees, with full sun exposure.

Also is there a way to ground mount it?

    • +2

They are UV Stabilized and can certainly handle the sun/heat side of it. The cold I don't have much experience with (we don't get too many -5s here on the west)

  • +1

Can these be installed 'upside down'? ie. so the hose exits from the right hand side at the bottom, rather than left hand side at the top as per the picture?

    • +1

Typically these retractable reels will cycle left and right as you unravel / retract to evenly coil the hose - so left vs right shouldn't matter.

Also typically they have a wall bracket that the reel slides down onto which would mean that its unlikely you would be able to install it upside down.

      • +2

"Also typically they have a wall bracket that the reel slides down onto which would mean that its unlikely you would be able to install it upside down."

Correct, not designed to be mounted upside down

Thanks OP, just ordered one to replace a Holman retractable reel I bought from Bunnings a couple of years ago. Complete and utter junk, fell apart in no time.

    Hopefully this one is better.

  • +1

Want to confirm if the wall mounts or screws/bolts included?

    • +2

Yep comes with wall mount bracket and a bolt kit to affix to the wall.

      Cheers

      • cheers, got one

  • +2

OP, how does yours compare to this: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/359722

For people who already have Costco membership, the price works out about the same.

  • grabbed one.. hope it lives up to the decent enough quality claims :)

  • Thanks Rep bought one.

  • what are the wall mount measurement? Is it standard so that I dont have to re bolt this one into the wall?

  • Look identical to the ones available via ebay for $71 delivered.
    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Retractable-Garden-Hose-Water-Au…

    • Says $79 for me.

      • yeah it included a promo code to reduce it to $71, looks like the code has now disappeared

    • +1

I saw this too, but decided to purchase from ToolMech - I’d prefer to support someone who made the effort to post a deal here, plus there is the stated warranty/support to consider. That counts for something!

      • +1

Appreciate the support for sure, thanks :)

  • +1

Do these come in longer lengths and can you do a deal on them?

  • Well that didn't last long. Went to get one today and deal already finished :(

  • Bugger, I had not ordered yet either and was relying on the fact that it said 10 days remaining… any chance on opening it up again ToolMech?

  • When should we expect these to get shipped?
Mines showing no tracking info yet and status 'Pick'

  • anyone received theirs yet?
    Mines showing
Dispatched but "Tracking not yet available"

    • Hi mate, feel free to DM me and I'll have a look for you

      • done

  • Still nothing, still no tracking, and no response from PM

  • Cant get any response from the rep via PM as requested, or a response to an email re my order

Pretty bad customer service so far from an order thats 20+ days ago

    • Yes, same here. No tracking and no response using their "Contact Us" email page.
I called their contact number at 1230 AEDT today and received a promise that someone will call me back. Have just sent PM to OP. Still waiting…

      • Just got a response from them.
Shipping (profanity) up apparently, and tracking link now provided.

        • Thanks for the info @SBOB.
My order still says "Tracking not yet available". So I guess they let you know directly and won't be updating the "Tracking" on the order page.
EDIT: The OP responded to my PM and is trying to get more info. Yaay! At last, someone is responding…

        • The OP kindly chased up my order.
It seems that it didn't happen :-} so he's arranged a full refund. Much appreciated.
I can only surmise that they were OzBargained after the initial post, and their systems couldn't manage.
          Such is life.
