Very popular last month on HUKD for ~ AU $7.29, the same item is available at Rosegal (associated site of Gamiss/GearBest etc) and AU $0.40 cheaper.

The price is US $5.50 shipped = ~AU $6.97 using today's MasterCard rates. However you can pay in AUD on the site which comes to AU $6.90, their rates are slightly better than the current market rates. So pay in AUD and save yourself 7 cents.

Remember to untick shipping insurance at checkout, it's checked by default: "Add Shipping Insurance to your order $1.11". Ensure that your total is US $5.50 / AU $6.89 before pressing 'place your order'.

I use one of these to see if girls are hot for me

    • +3

the hot ones will likely to give you a fever or two

    • +16

You're lucky it can measure below freezing point in that case.

    • +2

      Accuracy: 1.5 Deg.C

Not accurate for checking for a fever

      • +5

Not accurate for checking for a mild fever.

    • +2

You need to point the laser between their eyes to get an accurate measurement ;)

      • +2

        Then pull the trigger

      • Just make sure there are no cops around otherwise you might end up having them pointing the laser between your eyes.

  • +2

Is this safely reliable to check temp on Human body? Thank you.

    • +5

      Unlikely - Accuracy: 1.5 Deg.C

"Valentine Surprise Limited Time" perfect for the temperamental woman in your life.

    • +17

      Accuracy: 1.5 Deg.C

Wouldn't recommend it. Kind of makes a difference if your temperature is 38.5° or 40°.

    • +5

Would only tell you skin temp, which doesn't give you a lot of useful information, and the accuracy is to poor to be useful. +/- 1.5degrees is the difference between a normal temperature and a fever.

    • +4

It'll be a tight squeeze and then you won't be able to see the screen.

      • +3

Cld always go semi old school and shoot the laser right up the bunghole

  • +55

Thanks, been meaning to get one of these. From Reddit:

I got one about six months ago. Use it for everything. I now know the temperature of my electric griddle surface, air coming out of the vents, wife's ear, the wall, the couch, toilet water, cat's butthole, and the thermostat. Wife rolls her eyes every time I use it.

    • +1

Wow seems I need for all same reasons. Ooh wait my new year resolution was less shopping :-( what to do? Rewrite my resolution?

      • +1

Ignore it like everyone else. It's February, man!

        • +1

I believe you meant to ignore resolution, not the Deal. So I bought one :-). Thx

        • +2

@ablqadir: Yes. Gyms are empty again!

    • Same to me, but not the cat bit tho

    • I'm worry about the physical well being of your cat now… #metoo

        meowtoo
    • I have one and do find it very handy for similar reasons and get similar reactions from the partner as well. Probably isn't super accurate though but it is ok for me.

  • Excellent price hamza, I think that's the cheapest we have seen it.

  • +3

Time to use these on the highways.

  • Damn.. Bought this yesterday 11pm for $US 6.22 AUD 7.83 from eBay. The cheapest i could find.

  • Great for science stuff with the kids.

See how cold the sky is, or how the grass gets hotter than the concrete in the sunlight.

Also find out where you need better insulation in the home or clothing.

    • +3

I think concrete will be hotter than grass.

Please let us know when you do the test

      • Sleepy, You need a science lesson. A common mistake.

hint: concrete has higher thermal conductivity, like metal.

        • +2

The heating from the sun will be radiative though, not conductive. So it's emissivity that matters, not thermal conductivity.

        • @Charlesberg22:
The heat to your foot is conductive, which is why you wrongly think the concrete is hotter than the lawn.

This thermometer will help you see. I have tested all this.

Grass can be hotter or cooler, depending on conditions. But feels cooler even when hotter.

        • +1

@manic: So would the lawn be the same temperature as the concrete?

    • I don't want to cry blatant fake news, but the grass vs concrete claim surprises me.

      • +1

        surprises me.

That's why I said it. No point telling you the obvious.

OK, you do need to have the right conditions. Preferably very hot day, and little wind. Wind will cool the grass more than concrete.

Light-coloured concrete will be around 50C, but in those conditions grass can get hotter due to greater absorption of both visible and Ir light. And I assume it has to be dry.

Grass is still easier to walk on than concrete, so we are demonstrating that perceived temperature depends on heat transfer.

        Try also wooden boards.

    • That's nice.

I'm using it to assess the Minister of War and Finance.
This stuff could avert wars in my home.

      • +3

I need one. There's a cold war on at the moment. Daily random packages in grey/white padded bags with Chinese writing are used as projectiles - it's a veritable missile crisis.

    • How could it possibly measure temp of the sky, some 12km away, with this??

  • Thanks OP! Grabbed one of these suckers:)

  • +8

    Man's not hot!

    • +2

      Perspiration ting

      • +1

        Man's never hot!

  • Coming up as $13 for me?

    • +1

Are you logged in and applied code RGARCU4?

  • Great price to satisfy my curiosity! Grabbed one, thanks op

  • I've used a more expensive model and it was very cool to play with, hopefully this one just as good.

  • Nice price, but I'm after one with the emissivity adjustment so I can accurately measure shiny things.

    • Put some black tape on the shiny surface to overcome that and hold the thermometer against it.

  • What is the maximum distance from the object that I can measure with this one?

    • +2

      Two weeks.

      • +1

        So… that's 0.03846 light year distance?

  • I've always wanted one of these

  • Best way to check the efficiency of spermatogenesis. Thanks OP.

  • i have one. hours of fun. underrated. buy one for your valentine

    • I pointed on of these at a girl in a bar and told her You're So Hot. 6 years laters I'm married to her :)

      • +4

That was probably out of order one when it took 6 years. Mine does instant measure.

  • I don't why I bought one. But just did. The OZB way.

    • +1

The OzB way is to buy multiples you can sell to offset the cost of the one you keep. Pretty sure that's the first line in the Terms of Use..

  • Been after one of these for a while to play with - thanks OP!

  • +1

I got one just like this. Temperature measurement seems decent but not properly centered on the laser points; if you need to measure small areas with accuracy then it's not very useful, else for measuring the temp of large bodies it's fine.

  • Thanks OP bought one although i don't know what for XD

  • +2

    Coupon maxed out?

  • Nice OP! BTW, the code works twice per account. Just bought two.

  • Code not working for me

  • Is this deal finished and over the limit? I cant seem to buy it with the code.

  • Accuracy: 1.5 Deg

    Shitty tolerance.

    • +2

      Well then tolerate more inaccuracy

      • Lol ours have to be .5 degree at work.

        • -1

(Aside: You do realise that accuracy and tolerance are separate qualities of measurement?)

        • @thevofa: yeh :) I was waiting for that comment. You sir get my gold 🌟

    • +1

      Don't be so intolerant.

  • Damn, "Error, this promotion code has frequency of use restrictions."

Need to try again later unless it's expired for good.

  • Damn more units would be great if possible!

    • +1

Should be 100 more uses now.

  • Bought one, might actually use it at work. Thanks OP.

  • Still working for me just got one cheers!

  • Is it worth forking out for a better one? Want to get a reading inside our roof as only half is insulated resulting in everything past the hallway being putrid hot during summer and cold during winter, need to figure out a solution :'(

    • +1

It'll work fine, but it'll only confirm what you already know - you need to insulate the other half! :-)

      • Someone tell me there is a deal on insulation or shag carpets!

I planned to see what part of the house past the hallway was hottest and get a whirly bird or grate to help move things along. So expennnnsssiiiveeeee

        • Someone told me about solar powered roof fans and they seem like a great idea for keeping roof space temperatures down. I think they're around $200 so not cheap but apparently more effective than several whirlybirds.

  • +5

I clicked too fast and accidentally paid $1 for shipping insurance… Now I can't even afford to die.

    • -1

Say it didnt arrive and then you'll get 2. Insurance.

      • If the company does something that wrongs me, sure, but otherwise I consider that a scam.

  • awesome. been looking at buying one of these but usually >US$8

  • All i need now is a cat, it would seem…

  • +1

    Sold out

    • As soon as I pressed confirm, it said sold out 😑

      • I must have grabbed the last one!

  • Thx hamza bought 1, sold out quickly.

  • At my work (emergency), if someone has measured their child's (or their own) temperature with one of these saying they have a fever we will assume it's wrong as they're just not accurate enough. It would have to have read >40C to say it was a fever and even then who knows.

Even ICU will use little underarm thermometers like these:
