  • It's a tablet?? I'm so confused, what happened to the keyboard that comes with it!

    • Yep it’s a tablet in the vein of the surface, detachable keyboard and stylus

      • Just beat me to editing - nvm, it just isn't pictured for some random reason…

Accessories Included: Detachable Keyboard and Stylus Included, AC Adapter

  • Holy sh*t, just purchased this on impulse without even looking at anything besides the processor.. Hopefully it turns out to be good.
Don't know whether to thank or curse you OP, but damn that's a good find!

    • I was kicking myself for missing the previous one at https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/359874

I've been waiting for a win tablet for reading (colour, pdf etc) and some indie games with touch support

      • But that wasn't even a good deal…
M3 vs M7 performance is just like i3 vs i7 performance. It's night and day.

I was kicking myself for a while for missing this but now I am so glad I did.

        • Depends on what you intend doing.

        • @wxyz234: Lol, I am upgrading from a Celeron. This'll be just fine for web browsing, video playback, word and some stats programs.

  • can it be upgraded? i have a similar model for work, but it has 16gb.

  • No, missed it again. It's all gone when I was reading the comments. Damn

Sold out btw, looking to see if I've purchased the wifi or LTE model.

        • arrived today, does have a mention of 'mobile' when I went through the initial setup, spotted the sim card slot beneath the stand, minor marking on the body near the hinge, screen looks fine

edit: also serial scratched off on the serial sticker, lenovo bloat preinstalled, 2x partitions one for 212gb one 24.9gb lenovo

        • @loke: Yeah Lenovo bloat is preinstalled on all unfortunately :( Easy enough to get rid of?
Also, what do you mean by 2 partitions? As in there is 212gb available to the user?

Awesome it includes a sim slot though!

        • @pennypincher98: 24.9gb lenovo bit is available, just 2 partitions (e.g. C drive, D drive) may look into reinstalling windows over it

        • @loke: oh right two different drives per se. Is the bloatware bad? Otherwise I won't worry about it but if it is I better learn how to get rid of it lol

        • +1

@pennypincher98: bloatware shouldn't be a problem, was just thinking of doing a win 7 professional installation onto the laptop to upgrade it to win 10 pro via assistive technologies but search online says it's over (via a quick search - Update: The Assistive Technologies upgrade offer ended on January 16, 2018.)

        • @pennypincher98: had a good look at it at home, some more notes

I bought 2 units, 1 for me, 1 for my partner (maybe she'll finally get off using a bootcamp'ed windows on the MBP, but battery still goes for ages on this thing).

          1st unit:

          1. Loose housing/casing on the charge/usb port - the charge/usb connection itself is rock solid, but the casing / housing appears to have come detached or loose from its board. I can wiggle this around a fair bit

          2nd unit:

          1. Smells faintly of lemon around the stand area, inspecting the connection between the keyboard and tablet, I noted there was some rust along the 2 lengths on either side of the connector that contacts with the body, resulting in rust in the groove of the tablet too. Wiped off the rust, maybe I'll put a little paint or coating over it. I suspect there was a spill of some sort (probs lemon water, but could be lemon scented cleaner/anything).

          2. Keyboard definitely has seen more use on this one, signs of some wear/shine on the touchpad and again some style of markings in other areas of the keyboard. Touchpad a bit wonky - my test for this is holding down left click on the scroll bar and moving it up and down or trying to move an icon around.

        • @loke: Haha oh how naïve of me to think it would be "as new" condition. I'm picking up mine tomorrow (from Post Office) so I'll have a look and see what the state is I guess. Rust is quite bad.
I would expect normal wear and tear and I'm not expecting perfect condition but I'm hoping it is worth the price paid for.

        • @pennypincher98: prob last thing to note; the styluses use AAAA (that's quadruple A) batteries - these are a bloody rip off, I cut open a coles 9V battery and used that instead, cutting pliers / something to cut into and separate the top (the casing is plastic on this one). it comes off like so : https://www.reddit.com/r/pics/comments/37q5aa/cracked_9_volt…

the 1st removed battery didn't work as I forgot the to keep some of the soldered metal contact material to use as a bump/protrusion/contact to touch the positive contact in the inside of the pen, worked second time.

edit: the rust wasn't so bad, just a wipe/scrub off took it off (narrow strip running left and right of the connector), but the finish on the metal surface of the groove and the keyboard connector bit (not the actual connection itself) is definitely worse off due to it

        • @loke: Are these AAAA batteries alright for the job do you reckon? Less than a dollar a battery and further discounts for buying in bulk :)

Not too confident about cutting into a 9V battery lol!

Good the rust wasn't so bad, but it should never have been on there in the first place to be fair.

@pennypincher98: today I checked out lowspecgamers and the gpdwin subreddit to eke out some more performance out of the intel hd 515

Main one was downloading the zip version of the latest skylake/gen 5 intel graphics driver

If you are trying to update it normally you'll get a see manufacturer website message.

I extracted the zip contents then I uninstalled the display adapter and ticked the remove driver software on the confirmation adapter (installation instructions are on intels website too), restarted then updated the drivers through device manager > browse to the extracted drivers \…\graphics directory

I've only got MobiusFinalFantasy installed since its my mobile gacha addiction but it is possible to run it at high resolution without a crappy framerate now

        • @loke:I bought three units, all three stylus pen do not work, may need new batteries. One unit looks very old. But not bad for this price.

        • @loke: check your own, all three pen do not work, may need new batteries.

        • @alex27: yeah both stylus work completely fine, AAAA battery was dead in 1 of them, 2nd one had the same energizer AAAA battery which still had juice and more wear to the body (from the cap on the back being unscrewed and marking the body with the metal tip/holder piece).

Rip open a 9V battery and keep some lenth from the soldered metal contacts to form a tip for the positive terminal for a cheapo AAAA cell

        • @alex27: didn't test the stylus so I'm not sure (seemed sturdy on outside, no idea if it has charge) but my unit much to my surprise looked quite new! I reckon it was like ex-display quality, some shine on the keys, especially shift but on the whole fantastic value!
Weird how lenovo refurb standards can vary quite dramatically.

Lenovo…yucky poo poo don't feel bad winman you dodged a bullet IMO

  • Received mine. The miix arrived happily whereas something terrible has happened to the box. Anyway, It said 3 months warranty only on the paper in the box. I thought it should be 12 months warranty.

    • Yeah if the box didn't clearly state the model on there, it would've been unrecognisable. Sticky tape was basically all that was holding it together. The miix inside though was in good refurb condition.
I agree 3 months warranty is not long. Even 6 would've been fine.

  • Got one. very happy with it

    • can see my comments for a desc of the condition my 2 units came in

updating the intel HD 515 driver with the latest (Feb 2018) generic one -zipped version - via device manager (uninstall and tick remove software drivers thru device manager and then update it via device manager and pointing it to the graphics subdirectory after extraction the zip).

taking the cells out of a 9v battery to use as AAAA cells (keeping some of the soldered metal to use as a contact).

I'm also running Throttlestop to disable turbo and undervolt

there's stuff online like shutup10 and powershell scripts to disable unnecessary stuff if you're looking to eke out more performance and battery life out of the device

      • I would give mine 9/10 for condition excellent all round.
I will check the drivers mentioned. Had to reinstall the webcam for skype. part from a few very faint marks mine is in excellent condition.
I ordered about 5 batteries from eBay for under $10 delivered

  • haaha, my miix 700 suddenly blackout while using but i am able to turn it back on by pressing the on button…damn……

  • Casualty! One MIIX700 down

Same issue as described by dilberry123 in the thread for the m5 (restocked today) and dragonindespair pasted the quote about the screen going grey and is nonfuctional, only the white LED comes on for a short time.

    • Working again when I tried to turn it on

      • You have to hard reset many times to boot the machine, but it doesnt work all the time. I did 15 times and only twice it managed to boot into window. The issue is getting more apparent. It will also abruptly shutdown for no reason. I regretted not returning it at first instance when the customer team sent me the return label. I told them I will monitor the issue, and now I have to contact them again for the return label. The good side is now I have recorded evidence of the machine unable to boot up.

It is a nice little machine that fit my usage and budget, but regrettably it isn't functioning well.

        • Yep, same shit 4pm Sunday, froze while watching a vid

Got it to boot again just then
