[NSW] 3 Piece Bistro Set $49 Clearance in-Store @ Big W Winston Hills Mall

70

Saw this 3 piece bistro set on clearance at Big W for $49. House & Home Brand (which I expect is Big W's local brand). Not sure if nation-wide or simply a local deal. I didn't buy any because don't need it but took a picture thinking some of my fellow OZBargainers might be interested.

Check size details in image. Says chair can support upto 110KG.

  • no arm rest on the chairs, will not buy

I would pay $5 more and get this combo

    2x Chairs with arm rest

    1x outdoor table
    http://www.kmart.com.au/product/metal-tray-table/1503815

      • wow, you win!

I'm actually hoping to get something like that 2nd hand for $30 or less from gumtree or facebook market.

        • If you’re close to an IKEA, this might tickle your fancy too!
I actually have this exact set sitting out on our front patio - it’s copped all sorts of crappy Queensland weather over the years, and sure the wood stain is looking a bit tatty now but it’s otherwise served us very well! $5 buys you some wood stain to give it a once over every few years if you really cared that much…

        • @jackary: wow I like the IKEA one.. what's the weight capacity on the chairs?

        • @jackary: Thanks but I need a chair with arm rest to support my arm when I drink my scotch which I bought from here

          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/353170

        • @bigbadboogieman: I did my best, but I can’t seem to find an answer! Nothing on the page for the chairs, nothing in the manual - the best I can say is that they have never looked like they couldn’t handle the weight. Powder coated steel frame and solid acacia wood!

        • +1

@Homr: And you wouldn’t just buy a $1 cup holder? Hand in your OzB badge, your membership has been revoked.

        • @jackary: cup holder?

    • Good find but max load for chair is 100KG and not foldable. Some people don't prefer handrests because of their bigger sized bottoms… :) :)

      • +1

Sure, but we’re talking 10/20kg either way, not exactly the be all and end all… And if your ass is so big that it can’t fit into a chair with armrest (and ergo presumably an office chair, or an airline, train or bus seat etc), I sincerely suggest you reevaluate both your outdoor setting purchasing decisions, and your life.

        • ^^lol

        • Right so you're one of those i**ts who think that re-evaluating your life help's you lose weight and genetics and disease has nothing to do with it. Only an ignorant will compare a bistro seat with office train or airline seats.

        • @bigbadboogieman: Thankyou for your valuable contribution and may god bless.

Source: I come from a medical background so save the lecture Dr Karl.

        • @jackary: likewise

        • @bigbadboogieman: Thanks for the downvote babe. Come back when you’ve realised that genetics and disease form a very small proportion of overweight people - well below 10%. Any more straws or have you about clasped them all?

Oh and you’re right, I shouldn’t such ignorant comparisons. An airline seat is actually much smaller in dimensions than any of the chairs mentioned in your post or the comments. How absurd.

        • @jackary: I didn't downvote anything. I also didn't appreciate the personal attack you made without even thinking twice.

If you're taking about economy class airline seats, yes it can be smaller but depends on the size of the bistro seat. I doubt you can buy one for $20.

As far as obesity is concerned, it is a medical condition that no amount of life re-evaluation or ignorant preaching can fix. Only expert intervention helps. Until then, as a far as my opinion goes, all over-weight people are more than welcome make their own life choices.

        • @bigbadboogieman: Excuse me? I’m sorry that you construe your own insults being thrown back at you sarcastically as an attack, but may I suggest you practice what you preach, and change your own tact?

I have paid less than $20 for a ticket, and ergo seat on an airplane on several occasions. I’m not sure how this is relavent. The point I was making really was quite clear.

Your third paragraph is my favourite though. “Only expert intervention helps. Until then, as far as my opinion goes…”

…It goes right out the window. Again, may god bless.

        • @jackary: Nothing more expected from you my ignorant mate. No one cares what you think either. You're an i*&@t and you know it.

Just read your first comment and you'll know where the confrontation started:

And if your ass is so big that it can’t fit into a chair with armrest…..reevaluate both your outdoor setting purchasing decisions, and your life.

        • @bigbadboogieman: Hang on hang on, who’s making the personal attacks here? I haven’t called you ignorant or an idiot personally, and definitely not multiple times. What a meanie.

I stick by my comment, and please, stop putting words in my mouth! I made a tongue in cheek joke, as I felt you were creating a problem that doesn’t reeeeally exist. I think you just read way too far into it. Does that explain why it was ~so dramatic~?

Genuinely sorry for any offence I have caused you. This has really veared away from the actual topic at hand, the topic being a discussion about outdoor tables and chairs. I’ve contributed by presenting 3 or 4 alternatives with similar attributes, prices etc - I think I’ll leave it to others to actually contribute to any further discussion - in fact I think we both should.

    • But look at that low height on that table! That's a side table, not a dinner table like the one in the OP. It's hell finding a dinner table for a small balcony. The 1M wide ones are just too big.

Unfortunately there's no Big W near me.

      • And unfortunately OzBargain isn’t a personal shopper service

Edit: That was perhaps a little harsh, but if you don’t have a Big W nearby, could you at least give us a few accessible shops to help you choose from?

      • Yeh good point, 52.5cm does seem low compared to 72cm big W one.

  • So I went to Top Ryde shopping centre to check it out and ended up getting this instead

    https://www.bigw.com.au/product/hinterland-3-piece-sling-bis…

The problem was they didn't have 2 of the chairs left so they discounted me $29 and I ended up getting the glass table for $20.

    • Good deal man..

      • You reckon? Cos Kmart is selling those chairs for $20. So if I were to buy those chairs from Kmart seperately, it would cost me $60 ($20+$20+20). I'd rather pay $49 for the table and 2x chairs included.

        • Depends on the table. I think table looks better compared to the KMart one..
