You’ll never have to worry about tripping over pesky power cords ever again – this innovative device is powered by USB.

probably the dumbest thing i've read about a product, the usb cord is the power cord for it, you can still f'ing trip over it.

    • +2

But you generally don't lay USB cords on the floor. This would go on your desk, because it's only effective for a small area (i.e., your personal space).

The Evapolar can be powered using a powerbank.

Give us your wallets, then you'll never lose them ever again!!

      • +4

Ah, wallet inspector. puts out hand

        • +3

I can't believe that actually worked. So long, suckers.

        • +5

Hey… that's not the wallet inspector

  • +8

This is so expensive for the limited cooling it would provide and I don't think having water aerosolised so close to a computer is such a good idea either.

Is this going to be any more effective than dripping water onto a tea towel in front of a fan? Seriously, the air flow and potential cooling would be almost non-existent.

Maybe (a big maybe) it might be useful while camping as a cooler while your trying to sleep if you blow it directly on your face?

This was a kickstarter back in the day that was heavily advertised and astroturfed everywhere. Probably one of the all time winners for fake reviews and 'shitty kickstarters'.

10w of cooling is equivalent to a novelty hat fan. You could get a misting fan or a 20 dollar kmart fan and a spray bottle and it would do far more cooling than this product. Avoid.

regular evap coolers got bashed a few weeks ago here, can't imagine how a desktop version would fare.
I hadn't seen this product before until a few days ago, unboxing therapy (kindly) reviewed it, although it wasnt bashed it wasnt praised either, which kind of illustrates your comment.

      • +1

Unbox therapy will 'kindly review' anything that you send to him, since he's basically all about product advertising. He's not the unbiased kind of guy to critically review and analyze the product; he'll either sing praises about it after he's tested it once and tell you how adequately it serves it's job, but he'll will avoid touching the negative aspects (like how expensive a gadget is) and always end on a positive note on almost all of his videos.

He'll only talk about the products con's if it's not a paid promo (e.g something he bought himself) and they're generally very cheap things.

    • There's a term I've never heard before - "astroturfed"

Fake grass = fake grassroots support

This is basically a battery powered evaporative cooler (aka. swamp cooler).

Evap coolers only work well when the humidity in the air is low. If you live in a coastal region like some parts of Sydney, you'll generally want to use refrigerated air conditioning

    • but…it has no battery :)

  • Would probably buy it at $60-80. No way I will pay $179, for a tiny underpowered fan.

    • +1

Would you really?! I wouldn't even pay $15. Might need to revoke your ozbargain membership there..

      • I wish I can get an evaporative cooler this small under 20 bucks. Would be perfect for my parked car. :(

Pls point me a direction for one, kthxbai. :P

  • +2

Worst junk ever, dont pay more than $30 for this.

  • if only it could run on enelops

  • Using a USB fan at the moment (a Daiso $2-3 job, IMHO but unverified - better than those Xiamoi stick fans)……while brilliant for the price point I cannot imagine a UDB output pushing much more than this small fan does successfully

  • Poor OP clutching at straws trying to come up with bad reasons why this product is good, trying to defend the honour of the post lol

    • I was thinking about getting one :P

  • i'm going to buy 10 of these and put them inside my computer to help cool down the CPU and GPU. then i wont need to exhaust the hot PC air into my room in summer.

    • You like it wet, huh?

  • +3

I had a more powerful one than this but it just like a normal fan. Useless.

  • +1

Literally 99% Humidity in Brisbane as I type. Evaporative Cooling = Pointless

  • I bought one a few years ago when it was an Indigogo product.

All I can say is I wasted my good money on an absolutely useless product.

Also note the new version was released last year which has smartphone control features.

  • +1

I thought about buying the new version. Did the maths and it's just cheaper and more effective to just run my ducted at night, since humidity is so high.here.

Anyone who thinks a little standalone box plugged into USB is going to cool them down has got rocks in their head, unless of course that box is a fan pointed at their naked butt.
