I got 2 months free on a previous offer and cancelled before the 2 months were up. Just be aware that cancelling involves calling a 1300 number and being on hold for a few minutes before a rep becomes available; can't be done online. Otherwise no problems.

Oh, and they will hang on to your CC details even after you have cancelled, just in case you want to reactivate. Be sure you are ok with this.

    • I cancelled my 1 month trial a few weeks ago online. No need to call them up…

      • There was no link to online cancellation when I cancelled. It just points you to their contact page. Believe me I looked. The rep wanted to know why I was cancelling. I said I had run out of movies that I wanted to view, which was true. Their selections in the non-English sections are patchy and many titles have long waits (probably only one copy in whole country).

    • Another thing I forgot to mention is that on the trial, you cannot click on the I Have Returned The DVDs button. It's only for paid subscribers. This is a feature that allows you to tell them you have put the viewed DVDs in the post and to send the next choices in the queue before they receive your returns.

Expect about a week for the roundtrip for a rental during the trial. They seem to process returns in the evening, so if you return a DVD today, it's received and processed tomorrow, your next DVD is sent out on day 2 and you get it on day 3, if in a metro area.

Jkiht9 has written 'new subscribers only' but make sure you don't forget you already signed up with them and get tempted and sign up again.. they will charge you. lol happened to me

    • they will charge you. lol happened to me

Yep me too….important to note, that they don't warn you if you have been a member….nothing like "if you continue you will be charged fees"…… you'll just receive an email saying your card has been billed $30!

If you have moved house, have a new credit card, and use a different name and DOB you should be safe to try the trial again!

      • I got my cancellation email and it says they won't charge any if I will return their DVDs within 7 days.

  • never signed up and never will, after everything ive read on ozbargain over the past year

First time I tried Quickflix I thought it was ok, relatively speedy turnaround during the free trial…then I thought I'd keep it on the paid service afterward, dumb move!

Every movie I wanted was listed as 'available' when it went in my queue, then after a few days became 'short wait', then a few more and 'long wait'…surprise, surprise, the whole month went by without me getting a single movie that I wanted…when I complained, they said "you could have chosen another movie"…my response, "not the point, but I'll gladly choose another DVD rental provider, close the account right now thanks!" :p

My advice, if you're interested sign up for the freebie & use it up; just keep on top of the dates or they'll bill you; but don't bother paying for the service!!!

  • I found Quickflix to be alright but what annoyed me was that you aren't able to rent what they term "premium titles" (which I assume are new releases) during the trial. Blu-ray are also excluded even if you subscribe unless you pay an additional $2 per month. Not much I know but still :p.

Just as a side note, I've read that in 2011 they're planning to launch a "Hybrid Multiplatform Service" which includes digital streaming to a variety of devices including: PS3, wii, iPad, iPhone, PC and Mac which will be interesting. Sounds very much like they want to be the Netflix of Australia.

    • I agree!! No bluray sucks!! BTW the terms and condition didnt even mention this…wonder if it really is "no bluray"…

      • You can only add bluray to your "reserved queue", which is only activated once you start your paid subscription.

  • I signed up yesterday, and the two top movies on my list are on their way right now. I only wanted to watch the Les Mis 25th Anniversary Concert (released a few weeks ago), so I'm happy. :-)

  • You need to have a credit card for this deal, and provide the details to them, who knows what kind of nasty hidden charges there might be!

    • They are above board. However you do have to be careful to opt out (like I did) before end of the trial or you will get charged for the ongoing plan.
