Can someone explain in real terms what the difference would be buying this vs a 65" Hisense or Samsung, both of which can be had much cheaper? This is a bargain site after all.

    • Are you comparing this to Hisense LED or LCD or OLED? And Samsung QLED?

OLED is relatively new tech and only LG can produce the panels commercially atm. Hisense will sell OLED as well for about the same price.

It's a debatable, but I think OLED gives the best picture quality

      • Over $3k better?

        • Well, that's subjective… The sounds on this TV is also considered the best on a TV, design, software, etc… Probly not $3k better but that's the price you pay for new tech. If you can wait for another few years, I'm sure price will go down further.

Relatively new technology is OLED, I am wary of screen burn problems & brightness handling.

        • Doesn't it also have a shorter life span than LCD/LED?

        • @syousef: Like I said, it's relatively new so not enough data to confirm. But how long do you use the same TV for? I think people usually change TV every 5-7 years? I'm sure it will last that long.

        • @zed264:

In general I keep a TV until it's dead or the technology changes enough that it limits me. I still have CRTs but I must admit they get almost no use. I don't see the point of spending hundreds or thousands on a new TV for a slightly different picture or some gimmick. I'd rather have more TVs in the house than change over every 5-7 years. At this point I still don't own a 4K screen.

@syousef: Fair Enough. One of the debates that has been going on forever, not only for TV but all appliances, cars, phones… Each to their own opinion :).
