What actually is it? A gizmo that melts the filler (guessing some sort of wax?)
Could I do the same thing myself with one of these

      • +1

Yes your correct. You cant melt those crayons to fill gouges, it doesn't work I have tried. Admittedly I used a cigarette lighter but I don't have a blow torch lieing around. So if you have a gouge in your floor (dont buy if you want to fix scratches, for light/medium scratches get a walnut and go for your life) with a bit of patience you will fill the gouge with wax and it will be a close colour match. For the gouge I had to used epoxy and have been waiting for this product to colour match it

        • I was thinking of using something similar to the Aldi kit like a low temp soldering iron.

I'd probably need a variety of the lighter colours so the Bunnings ones would quickly add up anyway, the Aldi probably still a better option in the long run.

        • @bamzero: i've never used this thing but I assume there's a bit of a learning curve. I'll be practicing on scrap pieces of timber

I have a good contact if you want to rip it up and get some fancy boards

      • sounds ideal…hopefully he can scratch and chip the new flooring during installation so i can get to using this kit asap :P

  • If you have a lot of gaps in the floow what should you use? This seems to be just for small patches?

  • anyone used the tile repair kit and can comment…?

this had me stumped at first too…

push the safety switch toward the tip of the tool making sure you dont depress the on button at the same time
once the safety switch is engaged at its final position (as far as it can travel towards the tip), then you can depress the on button and it should work!

      • Thanks mate.. i was holding the button while pushing the switch. Will give it a another crack

i did that too for about 45min and was thinking i had to take it back…:D
the safety switch is pretty stiff at first then becomes easier to shift as you use it more…good luck!

        • @franco cozzo: glad i'm not the only one
