    Sony MDR-Z1R Premium Headphones $1499 (RRP $2399)

What's the highest price you guys have actually sold one for?

    • +1

We've sold many units at $2399. From time to time we receive a deal, depending on supply and demand, and we pass those savings onto the customer. This product has been out for a year now

    I'm.. so disapointed with the WF-1000X. :( :(
My expectations was just too much I think and it failed

    • That’s the problem with expectations.

      • Expensive lesson. Don't be overly skeptical about reviews and trust them a bit more. lol

        • +1

I spent ages looking at mainly 5 star reviews of the WF-1000X's but then found the user reviews on Sony and Amazon. There are major issues with the right ear connecting that mean that you should not go anywhere near the 1st gen of this product.

        • @carleast: That problem is mainly interference which is problematic when you have got lots of 2.4Ghz waves blasting around. They don't talk about the 0.5 sec lag between the phone to the buds too when you are watching a movie or youtube. Not to mention the NC is super crap when I was expecting at LEAST QC20 quality (my bad, high expectations).

Thanks OP, bought 3 of Sony MDR-Z1R Premium Headphones

    • +3

Great but you only need two for stereo

  • OP, please do a special on the focal clear. Been sitting on the fence for a while. Also how the Sony z1r compare to focal clear since the rrp is within the range of clear?

    • Hi Andy, sorry there won't be any deals on the Focal Clear! We do have the Focal Elear and Utopia on special at the moment though.
Best to come in and compare the headphones for yourself at one of our stores! I can't speak on your ears behalf but I personally prefer the Focal sound over the Sony. However, the MDRZ1R does sound fantastic out of the matched Sony TA-ZH1ES amplifier!

Reviews for the WI-1000x seem quite promising and I'm looking for some good ANC wireless ones that's not full over ears….anyone who has it care to give an opinion?

    • I gave an opinion below.

I liked their performance, but I had some quibbles with it. Design choices that could have been different.

I went in with the expectation that it would block as much noise as WH XM2. It doesn't.

      • maybe try some comply foam tips

        • They were comfy already.

          Didn't want anything that crackles.

        • @lostn: get the isolation comply tips, they actually block out noises which helps

        • @Ftpxq: They seem a bit dear, but I'll look into them.

I'm a bit confused because they have many models. T-100, T-200, Tx-200, T-400, T-500… they can get very expensive.

Cheapest I can find are theseand I don't know which model they are.

        • @lostn: don’t know about those but wi1000x uses the t200, If your down at the cbd maybe get em at jaben audio for like $27. Be sure to get the right fit

Get the wi-1000x highly recommended. Great audio quality and noise cancelling is quite good as long as the fitting is good. I use it everyday on PT

    • glad to hear! sorry but what's PT?

      • I'm assuming PT means public transport

  • Public transport, one of the coolest feature is the noise amberience and noise cancelling features. It very smart and switches between profile based on your location, your movements and noise level. E.g if I running or sitting down or on public transport the earphone adjusts it accordingly. U will have to see it and use it to to really appreciate it. Only down side is it kinda glitches if u get msg or notification. Is the only annoying thing, but can be easily fix by putting on notifications on silent. I have all 3 of the latest wireless model the wireless earbud is the worst, the w1000x mk2 headphone is good especially for bassier music but I prefer the clearer sound from the wi-1000x.

  • What's the warranty? Is this local stock or grey imported?

    • 1 year warranty from Sony Australia. Local stock of course, as the description states. All online orders are shipped out from our Melbourne warehouse

Got a Z1R, was tracking this pair of headphone for the past year or so, narrowly missed out on an ebay deal previously that had the Z1R @ 1400 new and 1499 is close enough.

The Z1R based on my experience is probably the best closed back headphone, the leak is insignificant enough for portable use in public. The sound signature is very hit/miss though. Highly recommended to try these in store before making any decisions.

  • I have the WI. The NC is not as good as the WH, though it might be because without the cups, the passive noise blocking is not as good.

When you are using it in wired mode, you cannot turn ANC on. This is bad design.

For example, the WI is paired with your computer. You now want to use it in wired mode in an audio player that has no BT support. You can only listen to it with the WI turned "off". You will get audio but not ANC. If you turn it on, you will lose audio because it will try to connect to your PC. Even if your PC is off or far away, it will try to connect to what it's paired with and fail. You won't get audio through the wire.

So wired mode is pretty useless.

  • Have you guys just neglected to maintain your listing or is the website broken, WI-1000X price isn't even close to listing. Ahh well eGlobal and DWI on the list now.
