  • Anyone have any experience with these?

I am just amazed that you can run the thing on petrol or diesel.

Yes, did a fair bit of research after hearing from friends that cheap ones often fail early and not work as their supposed to, although I have a feeling some people use them wrong or for too large of a motor. Also as with any rechargeable battery, you need to maintain properly too.

I went with a Suaoki 18000mAh Booster/PowerBank/80PSI Air Pump kit in a nice case from ebay with one of their % off sales. Has a built in LED torch as well as multiple tips for laptops which I was looking forward to ( none fitted my many laptops/ultrabooks, you might have better luckthough I hope :-)

Had it not been used fully charged since May last year, girlfriends car had flat/shot battery two weeks ago and started her 1.8 Lt. VW Golf petrol real easy twice from dead flat from around 90% full ( digital display works well ). Still has over 80% left now, so worked really well.

      • How many starts do they rate the battery in the Suaoki for?

        • Depending on engine size/temperature/compression inside motor/condition of flat battery around 20 times ( probably best case ). Realistically if you can start a motor ten times, that is really good, and this one can do it easy. Best not to heavily drain/flatten these types of batteries, so charge when below half.

This is a tool you require it to work well when needed, so reliable quality is worth paying a small premium for in many cases.

I read many good reviews on this model, also from Amazon in English lol.

How much did you pay? I reckon these look a little cheapish, while a good price, probably something not worth skimping on?

        • I got mine for around $93 delivered after a 10% off discount code from an Australian seller on ebay. They currently range from $92.99-$149.99 on ebay. I was going to put a link to similar listing ( my seller does not sell these any more ), but forgot earlier.

Like you say, get one that you know is decent going on peoples feedback for a bit more with Aussie warranty ( still only from ebay seller, so maybe not always great ), and still cheaper than most car parts stores. If you want a slightly more powerful unit with a 700Amp/150PSI Air compressor built in larger form factor, that is available for bit more too ( new model ).

I got myself an Anker one last year and it cost me approximately $110 at the time. I was able to jumpstart my Suzuki swift after I went on vacation for a month and a half and the battery died. I took it out to charge the powerbank after 6 months and its still had more than 50% charge. So I can confidently say that the Anker ones are of good quality.

Not worth the money , especially if you can’t even exchange it .

I got a 400A LiPo (can't remember the rest of that, but the type that is far less likely to catch fire) one about a year ago. Started my Saab Aero 2.3 litre which had a completely flat battery and still had 88% left. Worked great. Small and light enough to keep in the car. I think it was about $130.

    • Just wondering where you purchased that one from?

        eBay. It’s red and black.

Mine is a bit bigger than a large phone and thick as a VHS tape. That one looks the same. Comes in a plastic case with charger and cables. That’s about 280x220x70mm. Pack that in a cardboard shipping box and you might get those measurements.

Suggest you look for brand one.( not cheap one )
    do research.

  • Have a similar one. Our V8 petrol had a dead battery, a light had been left on. My hopes were low - however the motor only just cranked, and bless my soul it fired into life. This would be very unlikely to crank a 6 or 8 cylinder diesel though. If it isn't fully charged, then it's unlikely to be much use TBH.

  • Maybe ok to try if on a low budget and no need to be crucial emergency tool as this has reasonable reviews on alliexpress, just make sure you're not in a hurry to get it lol.
