  • Any recommendation for GOOD car protection / wax? Is it necessarily the higher you pay, the better the product? I think I need to clay bar first (it's a 6 year old car) and then apply some nice wax on top.

    • I use a spray wax after every wash, tried them all and still using Eagle one wax as you dry. Cheap and lasts for months. Not sure if Repco sell it, still have a couple of bottles left from Autobarn sale.

      • That would be fine if you wash your car every 6 months otherwise that's a crap load of wax.

    • I found Nu Finish (in the can) surprisingly good, also has some solvents in it that helps get rid of stains etc. I use CT18 truck wash (sprayed on and left for 10 mins then washed off), followed by the Nu Finish. If it can make my almost 30 year old landcruiser shine then i'm impressed.

      • Their marketing touts a "once-a-year" endurance, have you found this to be the case? Also, no buffing or scrubbing? that's quite awesome and should be less tiresome to apply right?

        • The finish definitely lasts, even through washes (as long as the soap you're using isn't too stripping). The no buffing or scrubbing bit is partially true, if compared to regular wax, but a bit of marketing BS otherwise. You still need rub on with a damp cloth (with some amount of effort) then buff clean with a dry cloth. Takes around 3 hours to do a large 4wd.

You won't find the really good stuff @ Repco/SCA. I use 3D products -> HD Poxy as a wax/sealant. Meg's ultimate compound to cut and meg's clay bar to prep it with. www.carcareproducts.com.au <- You can spend a ton of $ there on products!

      • +1 to that, Car Care Products are the go to place if you take your detailing seriously or want something a step above what's available off the shelf.

A lot of the stuff isn't that badly priced compared to what you pay at Supercheap/Repco/Autobarn either.

2 layers of this and it will last you a good 2-3months.
As a detailing hobbyist, I've used many types of wax in the past 7 years, dodo juice, swissvax, meguiars, menzerna, autoglym from cheap to expensive and say that mothers step 3 carnauba finishing wax is the cheapest "most effective" wax I found. Applying Carmina wax is also important. You never crack the wax, you just rub it with application pad until you create some friction/heat then apply on car. Leave on car for a minute and it will turn white. Then you can easily rub off with microfiber cloth.

      • I've used mainly duragloss and a couple of other brands, I might give this a go after my next clay. Thanks.

      • Thanks for your input. That's quite expensive for just the wax, but if you say it's good then I'll try it. I've never put on 2 coats at once, so that makes it last longer eh? Also after clay bar, should I use a polishing compound first THEN the wax? or should I just jump to the wax. Car colour is white

        • Have you got a machine? if not, just do a quick wash and wax.

If I've only got 2 hours to clean my car, I'll just do a quick wash and a spray on wax.

If I've got over a day (say 20 hours) ahead of me, then I'd do a proper wash, clay bar, machine polish with Menzerna IP2000 or FG2500, then use this Mother's wax twice to seal in all my hard work :)

I wouldn't bother with clay unless you're going for the full enchilada.

Does Repco has gift card to sell in Coles or Woolworths?

    • What

      • +1

Can I buy Repco gift card from Woolies or Coles?

  • Time for a new battery

    • +2

Discount does not apply to purchases of transmissions, satellite navigation devices, automotive, marine & deep cycle batteries

    • Should have gone last week… They had 25% batteries. The wife's car conked it on Saturday. (Battery gone) and grabbed a new 550CCA battery for $120 after discount

    • +4

You could sign up as an Autobarn member and get 20% off your first purchase which you can use on a battery.

  • 35% is alway

  • any requirement of the membership? I ran into the store the other day and was told to get 20% if I was NRMA member.

    • Yes, it's in the title of the deal, auto association membership required.

      • thanks, how to join? is it free?

Sometimes Repco discount is a joke.
Last time I tried to purchase a car battery before, drive all the way there, at the counter their staff worked out the discount off "Retail Price" ends up being higher than what the price tag showing on the shelf. I ended up did not buy any.
I went to Autobarn instead and got a better deal.

    • Is it the marked price that's discounted or the rrp?

    • Just living up to their acronym: R.E.P.C.O

  • Any good dash cam recommendations?

  • Does being a REPCO member give the discount too?

  • +4

Nothing against op, but store wide with so many exclusions, is definitely not storewide

    • I used to think that Repco was pretty legitimate but now it seems everything is priced to allow 50%-off sales. So after the exclusions you’re probably paying too much.

  • Yes I drove there to buy a car battery and was told they were excluded. How is that storewide?

  • +1

The best discounts I usually see for these is Repco-branded filters. Reasonable quality, too.

  • Does Repco sell Motorcycle oil? Hard to get a discount on fully synthetic motorcycle oils so this would be great.

    • +1

They do sell motorcycle oil although they don't sell 4L jugs of Penrite Ester-PAO mc4st (or at least not at my local store) so I get my stuff during Penrite sales at SCA.
If I remember correctly for my local store in Vic, the extent of their motorcycle oil is Penrite, Fuchs and possibly a generic oil.

  • So 33% of some stuff

  • does it include meguiar stuff? Running low on washing shampoo.

  • +1

    hang on …

so anything listed in the latest catalogue on special will not get the 33% ..

i.e. I buy $100 worth of items from the catalogue = no 33% off

thought it was too good to be true … lol

  • I wouldn't have thought that Auto Club members would be Repco's Biggest shoppers?
    Is that just me?

    • I get what you’re saying. Someone who pays for someone to come change their tyre probably wouldn’t be tinkering around in a parts store.

      • +1

Most of these clubs offer membership without roadside assist, I'm a member and I don't have roadside assistance.

However, being competent at changing a tyre and having someone do it for you when you're stuck on the side of a busy road isn't the same thing. If I had an older unreliable car I'd probably get road side just for the towing.

        • Well if you don't have roadside assist then your just using it them for car insurance yh? So why wouldn't they open the offer to people who have car insurance. Is the promotion to try to get people to join those AUTO Clubs to get 33% of some items?
I would have thought a better market for them to aim at would be people who are members of a car club..

  • Went in for batteries today for the mrs and it doesnt cover it supposedly.

They did hand off a voucher for tues 27th feb i think 33% off and march 5th is 35% off. Dont know if batteries will be excluded on these discount days. Do repco discount days udually exclud car batteries??

Did buy some fuel additives for the first time on this sale though. Have no idea if a bottle of fuel system clesner will do anything. One bottle per 10 000 km so not too bad. The regulsr fuel injector additive then prescribed if regular maintenance is needed is every 3000 km. Does anyone bother topping these in their tank when they pump fuel??is it a gimmick or worth the maintenance and upkeep they bring by cleaning internally??
