  The last el cheapo USB-C to audio jack I received was reported as incompatible on my phone. Don't know about this one as it's not the same.

  Is this intended for type C phones with no headphone jack? Like Pixel 2? Because I'm struggling to think of any other use case for it. My S8 has the 3.5mm jack. You could use a 3.5mm splitter which would work on a lot more devices.
