  • How good are these for roller chairs? I always felt unstable with a slippery plastic mat under my chair. Especially since my gaming chair can tilt 180 degrees. I assume no issues if using the blunted flat feet plug ins.

    • I have one and haven't experienced any issues, but that is with a standard office chair.

    • I think it's great. I have been using the 920 x 1220mm mat for a few years now and I have never felt unsafe sitting on a chair with wheels.

    • They are kinda soft, in that when you sit still for a min then create groove that kinda hold you in place, but the moving it easy as they arn't very deep grooves.

    • +1

They are fine for roller chairs.
But they WILL crack, especially if put on anything other than a hard flat surface.
And from personal experience Matshop make it very difficult to claim a refund/replacement if that happens under the warranty period.

I love when OzBargain delivers the exact thing I was looking for

  • +22

WTF! They just jacked the prices up.
Carpet mat was $33.00 just before and are now up to $45.00. Other mats went up in price too.

    • +12

Im sure it's against Australian consumer law to increase a price to then offer an advertised discount..?

      • +12

I was going to buy 5 for myself and 4 of the kids and the price changed while in checkout.
        They can get stuffed.
I obviously like to save money, but I'd rather spend a little more elsewhere if businesses pull this crap.

    • +1

Is it the same size you're comparing? There is still a $33 mat from my end.

      • +1

I took a screen shot of my checkout page with the cheaper pricing to show the wife as she had the same page up with the sudden higher price just moments later.
Definitely the same items and they definitely went up in price during checkout today. Hence my immediate response here, above.

    • Hi @rattle, the special on the PVC Chair Mats was scheduled to end due to low stock. Just confirming the mat was on special and it is now back at the original price it was never increased above the original price.

      • +1

        G'day Matshop.

The reason for my replies was that the price increased while I was in the checkout process and this is a significant blow to the wallet as I was buying 5 in total for our house.
Myself and others here on Ozbargain have seen very clear price jacking by sellers on Ebay when so called 20% off sales occur, so this obviously sent off alarm bells.

I was obviously disappointed at the sudden price increase (for whatever reason), during my checkout process and having to suddenly pay so much more for 5 items was a hard pill to swallow.

Thanks for taking the time to reply,

        rattle.

@MATSHOP ( store rep ) can you help?

  • +21

Oh dear MATSHOP. You just trashed your business. Do you realise how far reaching this forum is?

Edit: I just contacted Matshop with this message:

    "Hi
You should address the Oz bargain forum ASAP.

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/363430

You have committed the cardinal sin of business by price-jacking during a discount sale. Many people with LOUD voices are very upset. I know how brutal this mob can be. I will post this to the forum to let them know I have notified you directly.

    Regards"

Given that price-jacking is a breach of the Trade Practices Act, I think the ACCC should hire a "researcher" to just sit and read OzBargain. There are multiple cases every day.

    • Hi @Lps, the special on the PVC Chair Mats was scheduled to end due to low stock. Just confirming the mat was on special and it is now back at the original price it was never increased above the original price. Thank you for contacting us.

Costco (Sydney) has Dimex (made in USA) chairmats at similar price, if you have access to it.

    Hardwood: $22 (114cm x 134cm), rolled.
    Carpet: $32.5 (114cm x 134cm), flat.

  • +10

I thought "damn!" when I saw this deal as I only bought something from them last week.
Turns out I actually paid LESS.
    I.e. PVC Chair Mat 114 x 135cm lipped shape for carpet - paid $33 no discount. Now it's $45 - after 20% = $36. Very bad business practice.

    • +4

yeah I got something last week from them too, and that same email, Not even going to bother to check the prices. I'm fairly disgusted and I wont be purchasing from them again.

    • +3

Agreed. Bad business practice and potential for ACCC fine.

      • Hi @smalldeadchris, this chair mat was returned to it original price due to low stock. We have been in touch with ACCC to make sure that this wasn't the case. Cheers.

    • +3

That, if true, is a clear breach of the ACL as those who followed the Kogan saga know full well. ACCC fined Kogan $32k for raising prices before applying a (fake) discount.
      Big NEG from me.
      Hope someone reports them.

Be the fury you want to see in the world

      • Hi @irate, this chair mat was returned to it original price. We had to take it off special due to low stocks. We have been in touch with ACCC to make sure that this wasn't the case. Cheers.

    • Hi @rictee, the special on the PVC Chair Mats was scheduled to end due to low stock. The price was put back to its original price it was never increased above the original price.

    • Hi @rictee, this chair mat was returned to it original price due to low stocks. The 20% off was for all products on the website not just this chair mat.

I will revoke my neg when Matshop inevitably come here offering a discount equal to or better than the original price available on their website.

    • Hi @meconium, did you take advantage of the below offer? The mat was on special and it is now back at the original price as we have ran low on stock. The price was never increased above the original price.

  • It seems strange that they put the price up so suddenly.
The discount code was hardly a secret, they would have sent it to all of their customers / email subscribers.

  • Neg due to price jacking.

    • Hi @jackal, this chair mat was returned to it original price and was not price jacked. We had to take it off special due to low stocks. Cheers.

  • Neg due to price jacking.

    • Hi @pinchies, this chair mat was returned to it original price and was not price jacked. We had to take it off special due to low stocks. Cheers.

    Hello All

Oh dear, sorry for my late entry here, as Mat Shop did not post the deal on Oz bargain we were unaware of the concerns.

Firstly let me assure you that Mat Shop has not price jacked in anyway shape or form. The Special on our Budget chairmats was scheduled to end, as we are almost sold out. The price went back to its original price. The original price has not been increased or upped, simply the special reduced price ended. The original price of $33.00 still represents excellent value. As an example see a comparable here at $59.00 not including delivery - https://www.bunnings.com.au/matpro-smooth-backed-indoor-chai…

As a gesture of goodwill and to Thank headphone Jack for promoting us,we will provide the special that headphone Jack posted until stock runs out or until 5.00pm close of business today 27th Febuary 2018 - simply email your details to [email protected] and we can send you an invoice for the order.

My apologies, We love our Oz Bargainers and know the high standards you guys have. I hope I have cleared things up - feel free to call me 1300 628 746 if you have any concerns or queries. Cheers Joanne

    • Thank you Joanne.

      • No problem, we appreciate your support. Thank you :)

  • Bunnings have these on sale for $25 or so. Bought 2 last week.

Might be store dependent though, not sure.
