Thank you to the people who edited and improved the information in m post (the L plate is appropriate!)

Update by OP: The offer had the WRONG date…. which Kogan fixed once I'd brought it to their attention. They tried to tell me it could be refunded, and I replied I understood they had a legal obligation to honour the date. I again got an answer - we can refund. No addressing the legal question I'd asked. I replied again asking about legal obligation to honour what was advertised, or send me a voucher in June for equivalent. Today I get this "

Thank you for getting in touch with us again.
We have successfully extended the validity of your voucher until 31st of July 2017.

Know your rights. If it's advertised as far as I'm aware they have to honour it.

2gb for $7.90. Kogan could have done better than that.

    • It's not just data. This is a phone plan with unlimited calls, text and 2GB of data.

though as a repeat customer you won't be able to take advantage of the offer, or any of Kogan's deeply discounted SIM offers as they're usually targeted at new signups.

      • +1

I always do a new signup, no problems so far.

        • Hi. I know there's better deals - it's because you can buy it NOW for the price but not have to activate it BEFORE 31/7/2018.
All their other deals have to be activated befored 31/3/2018.

I got it for my brother who's coming to Aus in June.

        • @Msfrugal:

I was answering to scrimshaw. Buy prepaid. Use it for 30 days. Discard. Put a new sim in. go on Kogan website and register as a new customer. So far had no any problems. Since even after a sim has no $$$ on it, it is still active for some time and technically I wouldn't be a new customer, just getting more sims. Still, get a new sim, pop in and good to go.

        • @bargainparker: sorry - newbie error - i meant to reply to @jamba

Well you can get the large 32GB for the same $7.90. I don't know why the OP just didn't buy that. I mean a whole 32GB for the first month. It just doesn't make sense paying the same $7.90 for only 2GB of data when for that same price you could get 32GB.

      • "ends 28 February 2018"

        • +1

Yes and so does all the other $7.90 deals. It means that's when the sale ends. Activate by 11:59pm AEDT on 31/03/2018.

        • @hollykryten: My bad.

"Voucher expires at 11:59pm AEDT on 31/07/2018" is four months after "Voucher expires at 11:59pm AEDT on 31/03/2018". If you only need service up to the end of April, your linked deal is definitely better. I don't plan on dropping off the grid until after August, so I'll keep OP's deal in mind.

      • I don't know why the OP just didn't buy that.

        • I do wonder if it was a typo by the person who wrote the product page. I mean it seems very odd that all the other product pages for the $7.90 deals would say activate by 31/3/2018 but this one alone product page showing 31/7/2018.

  • Not great value. Vodafone SIMs are 9GB / $10 at Coles.

  • It's a pity that the free XL voucher is sold out.

    • +4

I have a voucher for the XL if you need one?

      • It's ok for me. I'm already an existing Kogan Mobile customer.

      • Do you have a spare one? Wouldn’t mind taking it off you if you do. I had missed the expiry date :(

        • No problem. DM me and i'll send you the details.

        • I have spares as well, but looks like you need to port over to use them

        • @cwongtech:

          Hi cwongtech
Do you still have any spares? I missed out due to thinking you had until 31/3 to sign up, bit of a fail really

        • @Roja:
Yep, you need to port over a number yourself though.
I can supply the voucher code.

        • @cwongtech:

Awesome! Yes I do have a number to use from the recent Amaysim deal.
My PM is turned on (:

  • No deal. The 32gb sim is the same price.

You missed the point. Expiry is a lot longer.

      • THANK YOU wxyz234 - EXACTLY the point!

Now $7.90 per month for 12 months, that would be a good deal!

  • anyone have a kogan sim card i can buy in melb?

    • In case you don't realise. You do get a SIM card for free with any of these $7.90 deals. Actually you get two of them with one being for a friend or a spare.

      • But you only get 1 voucher code.

    • Buy a sim card? They're free. If you're in a hurry and can't wait for it to arrive by mail, PM me and I'll check if I have any left at home.

    • If you still can't get it. PM me. I have stack of them and a few coming in this week, for the free vouchers I ordered last week :)

      • I have PM'd you mate.

  • Anyone know where I can pick up a sim card from a retail store in sydney? I don't want to wait for the postal delivery.

    • Want to switch over before the next monthly charge for my existing plan kicks in.

      • Ask here and someone might have them. I have stack of them but I am in Melb.

    • Kogan does not have local retail presence. They sell straight out of a warehouse to keep costs down.

your SIM may take up to a week to arrive

  • Would someone be able to tell me what happen once the 30 days lapses? that is can I continue to top up every 30 days and it is only $7.90 or does it go back to $20 per 30 days? Thanks in advance.

    • The $7.90 is for that 30 days only. If you wanted to continue with Kogan you would have to select one of the plans offered on their site.
By the time that sim runs out they most likely will have another 30 day offer running… other telcos frequently run hot 1 month specials also.
      They are all here.. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/cat/mobile
Just keep an eye out here in OZB.

I have just bought the voucher and the email that I received (with the voucher code) says "Voucher expires at 11:59pm AEST on 31/03/2018." So not a longer expiry?

    • Hi. I contacted them about it as I saw the same thing - they said its a mistake, 31/3/18 expiry - but i think they have to honour as advertised. Waiting for confirmation from them.

    • Because I brought the error to their attention they changed the expiry date yesterday….. I've been told I can get a refund.
I asked were they not obliged to honour the deal?
Was told I can get a refund.
Wrote back I understood that but they hadn't ANSWERED the question (just like a politician).
Repeated the question - are they not obliged by law to honour the expiry?
And said I'd be happy for them to send me card and voucher in June for equivalent or higher.
      Still waiting to hear back.
Did you contact them? you bought the voucher before they edited the webpage I believe - so you may be able to ask for the same. I'll let you know what they come back with.
