  • Got this deal last week, what should I do with my $550 gift card :S

    • I used mine towards TV

      • I didn't catch up with Lg oled last christmas. Shame ;(

    • $550?

      • +2

i got this deal with $200 last year and recontract again with pixel 2 like a week after and the manager gave me $200(was $100 but the manager gave me $200 lol).

I just port my partner's number last week to telstra so i got another $150.

        • -3

          cool story bro

    • Post on the classifieds here and people will buy your gift card.

  • +1

wouldn't mind upgrading my current Telstra plan…. is it possible to get around the new customers thing?

    • +2

Port out to Vodafone or optus first.

      • +1

Convert to prepaid before you port out to avoid the $8 fee

        • Just to clarify. Port out to voda/optus pre pay then port back to telstra?

        • +2

@Sanvy: FYI I would recommend calling the telstra sales line to see if they can do a good deal for you. Managed to get 21GB data + unlimited calls/mms + shared sim for $35/mth instead of 65$. recently got this offer on the phone about 3 days ago

        • @gelangielol: That sounds insanely good. Do you literally just say "Can you do a good deal for me"? Would that deal be available to everyone?

        • @gelangielol: but you don't get the gift card…

        • @gelangielol:
Hey there, my contract is ending next month so I might try the sales line. Just wondering if you had to use any special powers of persuasion to get the deal you described above? Do u reckon others could just say "A mate (all ozb peeps r mates right) got 21gb + unlimited for $35, and I'd like the same please or I am porting to Optus/Vodafone?"

        • @gelangielol:

Were you recontracting or new customer?

        • @gelangielol:

Yep any more info you can provide would be great,
my contract has run out with telstra, and i'm in need of some more gb per month and the deal you have received sounds perfect.

        • +2

          @Sanvy:

Yep. I did exactly this on the last $200 deal. Went to Voda, ported onto a $2 sim. Waited 10-15mins for the number to be active, then walked into JB and ported back. Cheaper contract, more gb and $200 gift card. Winning all round!
Took all of about 30 mins to do

@Maz78: HAHA, Fantastic. I've been wondering if this works and how long it actually takes through-and-through!

        • @gelangielol: I just tried asking for this offer via online chat, and they wouldn't oblige. I'll try calling Telstra next. But it seems like you managed to get a really obliging Telstra rep, hehe.

        • +1

@Tricky83: my contract with telstra was ending. Optus had a pretty good deal at the time 15gb for 30$. Also I'm a long time customer (4yrs)

I did try asking for a better deal with telstra online chat but they would not budge and said it was impossible.

Later I was recommended by telstra retail to call sales. Told sales support that i would want to recontract but the current bundles were too expensive and I had a better deal on hand with another company. I specifically stated that I would want more data but at a cheaper price. Also told them that my limit would be 35/MTH.

The sales rep called Tony then said he would give me a deal I would like after pulling some strings and managed to give me what I wanted.

I would like to show you my bill, however it hasn't been generated yet

          @Tricky83:

JB shouldn't give a stuff as they get a $ from Telstra for the signup. Not worth asking Telstra directly either.

        • +1

@gelangielol: Cheers, I'll try this approach as well. Thanks for the detailed info. Much appreciated.

        • +1

@Maz78: Yeah if I don't have luck negotiating a BYO plan direct, I'll see what JB can do. Cheers for the info.

        • +1

          @Tricky83:

          No probs mate
          ;)

      • How do you port out to another provider without signing a contract with them?

        • +1

          Prepaid.

  • +1

Feels good that I got an S8 included with the same plan and $50 extra JB Hi-Fi credit.

    • How did you manage that if you don't mind me asking?

      • Ended last year. You had to first get this for the gift card then upgrade. Managed to get 5GB extra data and a discount.

        • Ah nice, shame i wasn't ready to recontract at the time, that's a sweet deal.

        • @Hardicus: Keep a lookout, might be an even better deal that pops up around Christmas time.

        • I also got $105 CashRewards on top of that :)

  • When it says $10 credit per month, does that mean it's 39 per month or what?

    • No, it means the Telstra price is $59 but JB are giving you a $10 credit to bring it down to $49. I wondered that as well and checked when I signed up last week as I was hoping the $10 credit could be put towards the unlimited international calls option.

      • Thanks banana. Still a good deal, thanks.

  • Now if telstra didn't charge for data share sims every month , it would put them close to on par with Optus ….. I've got 17GB , unlimited calls / sms and no monthly on the data share sims … costs me $40 pm, another 7 mths left on contract.

  • Does anyone know if I go over the 20gb limit, do I get auto bump for $10/GB, like optus?

    • Yep that's industry standard now

      • Thanks mate

  • Can I have two numbers using the same data and split the cost of $49 between us?

    • +2

You can get a second sim for $5/mth which shares data but gets no included calls.

      • Thanks for clarifying. I'll have to pass up on the offer then đŸ™‚

  • Got this in January, bought a 2ds and hacked it.
Now I have enough data for effectively unlimited Spotify on the go!

  • Girlfriend took up this offer about two weeks ago. Included 6 mths Apple Music subscription too.

    • No need to use that garbage when you have 20gb of data for Spotify.
$1 per month if you join a Philippine family subscription lol

      • To each their own, I prefer Apple Music. And it's not just the data that's unmetered, but the 6 mth subscription is included.

        • -4

Yeah true, the $6 worth of subscription is included I guess

  • Keep your $150 gift card and give me an extra 10gb/mth making it 30gb to match the jeenee/optus mth to mth deal I have now and I'll be interested.

Currently getting 30gb unlimited calls/text and no contract for $45.

  • Telstra does data free streaming for Apple Music from memory? So tempted to just quit Vodafone early and jump in this one.

  • Is there a deal similar to those Xmas ones @ Telstra floating around with the $59/month Pixel 2 and Home Mini and what not?

    • Nope. That's long gone. May be try Optus, they have S8 for 59$.

    • +1

I recently got my pixel 2 plan dropped to $49/month from $59/month and increased data from 15gb to 20gb

      • +2

That's good deal. Share it, if you get it.

      • Wowie, I'm gonna give it a go on livechat!

How did you manage to convince them to drop it down by $10?

        • You had to be an existing telstra customer with the additional service. This was posted last time but it was speculative.

        • @tarken:
actually I got it a different way.

I found some false advertising in their fine print so they gave me $10 credit per month and 5gb extra data per month over 24months.
I'll do a write up on ozbargain one day… with the screenshot of their website with the false advertising fine print

        • +1
  • Any idea how long this offer will be on for?

  • Currently on Telstra prepaid what is the best prepaid SIM I should buy port over, then port back to this plan is this possible?

  • +1

Just signed up, JB at Frankston gave me a $200 voucher and an extra 5gb bonus so 25gb all up.

    • Oo would love a copy of the receipt if you can

  • Don't get why people would comment their better deal and don't share how they got it on the getgo.. It's like they want you to beg first lol

  • Does it say anywhere when the deal ends ?

  • Yes, proof or it didn't happen people.

  • Just signed up to this at pitt street JB HIFI across the road from the Ivy complex
ported my phone number and got 25GB of data and $200 gift card.

    • How did you ask for the $200 gift card instead?

      • +1

I didn't ask, the gent there told me the deal was $59/mth with $10 credit p/mth, 25GB data and $200 gift card.
I kinda just rocked up asking what deals are on.

      • +2

Same thing with me. When i was waiting for them to comeback with the giftcard I was reading the email and it only said 15gb, guy then assured me i will get 10gb bonus on top. Then they gave me the gift card with $200.

  • Hi all,
I was at JB yesterday and was told it was the final day. Went back today anyway and they said they had received an email that the offer finished yesterday (26th). The guy said a new deal would be coming out on Thursday.

  • Called the Carindale branch (QLD), was informed that 20gb + $150 gift card ended yesterday and the new deal is 25gb + $200. Also no news of any bundles/promos with the new Sammy phones yet, besides the stock free wireless charger (no VR, wear etc).

    Hope it helps.

  • Can I get number share for my apple watch 3 with this plan?

    • I believe that's an extra cost/service. $5-$10 p/m I thought..
