  • How does it compare with S9?
Any student discount with the plans?

    • I asked about student discount and got a flat "None". :(

  • This is a great deal. Feel sorry anyone bought 2 XL outright recently…

  • Went to Telstra Epping plaza and signed up!
She told me that I wouldn't be getting the phone until the porting had finished (this was at 5pm and the store closed at 5:30).
I was scared it was gonna take a while but took less than 2 minutes!
Finished setting it up and very happy so far. Confirmed to have received the earphones and home mini. I thought the earphones were gonna be usb-c ones… but they're not.
They only had 2 Just Blacks left not sure on the other colour.

    • Did you get an extra 10gb?

      • Nah just the 15gb :( wasn't aware people were getting bonuses.

  • Sarah Jane (online chat)
"Google Pixel 2XL $59/Mth, 15GB Plan, 2 Year Contract- is available for port in .

However Google Home mini is not included on this discounted offer"

    Me:
"Ahh, thanks Sarah. Is there any other rep I can speak to?"

    Sarah Jane (online chat)
"I can assure you it doesn't have Google Home Mini.

Google Home Mini is included on our standard plans"

    Me:
"Pretty sure it is, plenty of others have had this deal honoured. Is there another rep I can speak to?"

    • I got that from Kimuel. Then tried another person called Beatriz, said there are none in stock. Will try person #3

      • They said they are actively investigating reps that honoured the deal…

    • Good news - Anna May honoured the deal. Keep on trying (I was lucky on the 2nd attempt, score!)

  • Got told f&f will be back soon with the s8 again for existing customers but expired unless port in which is till 30/4

  • Can anyone that has signed up to this deal and who has a copy of the contract advise what arethee fees for cancelling the contract early? My work pays for my SIM, but I want a P2 XL and the outright cost without a promo is excessive.

    • Wouldn't it be at least 24 x $59? Which is more than the RRP anyway.

    • $2120.84 apparently

  • I got deal from telstra sales phone line. No google mini included or extra headphones. She said it simply doesn't come with it. Jb in my area don't have any stock either and will not let you order without them having stock. Which could be a few days or week, at which point the deal could be pulled or Jb stop bundling up.
…do I cancel order I just placed and wait for Jb? Do I try calling telstra again? So annoyed at myself for wanting more simply because others are getting it…i don't even want the mini, just the headphones

  • I am also being told the Home Mini isn't included by Mary Ann.

Despite pasting in the comms from Giancarlo she isn't moving.

  • Is it for the regular Pixel 2 or only 2 XL??

    • It's all in the link I posted.

  • ahhhh this is so tempting, still on my kogan plan for another month and a bit. Hopefully there'll be a similar plan around then.

Finally get to use my daydream I posted a while ago and it’s awesome!

    • +1

Oh yeh forgot I bought one of those… :D

    • +1

That was one epic price for the Daydream!

    • When I was in JB signing up for this deal I spotted the daydream headsets and the rep said the Pixel XL doesn't fit them? Is that correct?

      • Worked perfectly for me last night, not sure what they meant lol

        • Yeah that's what I thought - gutted I didn't keep the one I got now…

  • +4

Just an FYI, I managed to score this deal on the online chat.
The guy screwed up i think cause the T&C i signed was 12 months :) if you are lucky you might get the same.

This is the terms and agreements they put forward:
•You’ve chosen a Go Mobile Plus BYO Plan at $59 per month for 12 months.
•It includes Unlimited calls to standard Australian numbers, unlimited texts and MMS to standard Australian numbers, and 15GB monthly data allowance.
•If you exceed your included data allowance you’ll automatically be charged $10 for each additional 1GB of data (or part thereof) for use in Australia. Unused additional data will expire at the end of your billing month.
•You can share your included data allowances between this plan and up to 5 other eligible data share services on the same account.
•If you cancel your plan early, you’ll need to pay an Early Termination Charge + handset payment contract of the phone.
    • Google Pixel 2XL 64GB included

When I asked about the ensuring the handset was free (and not charged), I got told it was to do with this offer:
You must be referring to our regular mobile plans that includes the handset payment contract and Google mini. But for Porting request, you can take advantage of the $59/month BYO 15GB + Google Pixel 2XL (free handset) on 24month contract

    • You got the Go Mobile Plus plan - that means you can hit up CashRewards for your free $90 cashback!!!

      • +2

How do you get the cashback if the sale was done through Live Chat and technically not online checkout?

        • You can't get it for the Family & Friends plan (like 99.9999% of people signed up for - that's what the this deal is for anyways), but because the rep stuffed up and signed you up for the Go Mobile Plus plan, you can file a CashBack Claim on their Contact Us page (https://www.cashrewards.com.au/contact) and give them all the details and you'll get a free 90 dollaridoos!

        • @KLoNe: Ahhh re-read the T&C above and realised 'friends and family' was omitted. :)

    • +1

Do you remember the rep’s name at all ? :)

    • +1

What I wouldn't give for a copy of this invoice to show them and hopefully match it..
Btw you got the pixel 2 XL + plan cheaper than it would cost to buy it outright.

      • +1

Man, their system must suck if it didn't pick up on this/allow such a bad human error.

      • unfortunately i dont have a copy of the recipt, but since it was online, I am keeping my conversation history and reference number of our conversation as it is the only time he got me to accept the T&C's.

    • +3

Wow, so you could port away again in 12 months and only pay $708 for a Pixel 2XL + 15GB per month. Bargain of the year, even if it was a mistake!

  • purchased online, no earphones or google home mini.

    • +1

the phone, google mini and earphone are in a bundle so should come together

      • oh thats good news, still waiting for my delivery, fingers crossed.

  • Yeah, online reps are saying the google home mini isn't included with this offer - only if you take the original plan price is the mini included.

    • Luck of the draw - mine was honoured (2 minutes ago).

      • It seems so, do you remember what the name of your rep was ?

        • Anna May.

        • @sletts:

          Cheers

        • @sletts:
I once knew a trick named Annie Mae oooh

      • My rep who honored the deal with the Google Mini was Aljon if that helps!

  • I was just told by online rep Jonathan that the deal doesn't exist and that I shouldn't pay attention to Whirlpool or OzBargain.

    • +6

      Haha

      • My response was to disconnect and try again. Now chatting to Priyanka instead.

        • Their online chat team are probably getting hammered

        • @John Kimble: I had a wait for about 15 minutes the first time.
The second time I just went in through 'other enquiries'

        • +15

@2be8: lol. Jonathan is a dick

        • should report this guy to management.

        • She does not know about the deal. I had her and she was not aware

        • @knowwhat: Seems to know about it now (sans Google Home Mini that is, but I didn't ask about that)

        • @2be8:
          Did u get the deal?

        • @knowwhat: Told I need to go instore unfortunately. She said I could 'order online' through the website but I don't believe that to be the case. Gonna try JB tomorrow night and hope for the best.

    • Yeh doesn't exist, the 304 upvotes and people saying they signed up are all lies! :)
      Definitely speak to another person.

  • I'm a current optus customer with 7 month's left on my iPhone 7 plan and have been told it'd be $305 to terminate early, thinking about taking this plan up as based on bill savings I'd be $17 ahead.

    Couple of questions:
    - I'd qualify for a 'port in customer'?

    • does telstra have an option to upgrade your phone / extend contract when a new model becomes available, if so how much is it?

    • how much do you think I could get for my second hand iphone 7 128gb. It has a minor Crack in the screen and a major crack/missing camera glass protector (the camera is fine but the glass protective layer is missing and as a result the camera is dirty) apple quoted me $480 to replace the phone as the camera 'screen' can't be repaired.

    • same situation, i have 5 months left.

  • Any other Boost customers been able to port in?
Someone posted on page 3 that everyone accept Boost? I have a phone on hold for collect tomorrow …. On Boost.

    • I've just been told that I can port over from Boost, and am getting set up now. I didn't bother to ask about the Home Mini.

      Rep:
"Any Telstra employee or JB HiFi employee, friend or family member who ports-in their service to Telstra will be able to take the $59 Friends and Family Go Mobile Plus BYO or My Business Mobile Team SIM plan for 24 months and choose one of Telstra Signature® 2, iPhone 6 32GB, Google Pixel 2XL 64GB or Google Pixel 2 64GB, with no additional handset repayments. This is a unique limited time offer to switch to Telstra, while stocks last or unless withdrawn earlier"
      Me:
"Ok, great. That's exactly what I would like. Now, I'm currently on Boost - am I able to take up that offer?"
      Rep:
      "Yes. you can."

      • Please confirm when done…. Actually goes through…..

        • Will do.

Edit: Told now that I need to go to JB tomorrow night so I'll be trying my luck. Might pick up a $2 optus SIM or something to port to just in case porting in from Boost is a bust. That's what I did last time :)

        • So, Tried again today and found:
          1. Can't be on Boost, according to JB (didn't ask a Telstra store)
          2. JB will not do it if I have ported out from Telstra within the last 30 days
          3. If you port to Optus at 9am, then the Telstra store system will potentially say you're still with Telstra at 5pm
          4. Stock of the Pixel 2 is rare as hens teeth

I have a Pixel 2 XL reserved at a Telstra store - I'd actually prefer the Pixel 2, but no Telstra store has any in stock so far as I can tell (although if you know one that does, please shoot me a PM) - but when I reserved it they said my phone was still showing as being on Telstra, despite the fact that I was taking the call on my phone number on an Optus SIM.

If tomorrow it is still showing up as being on Telstra I'm just going to give up and try again in a week in the hope more Pixel 2 stock has arrived.

        • @2be8: 48hrs here still on Telstra system as Boost even though using Optus sim!
Hoping tomorrow with have removed number from Telstra system?
Have u put credit on Optus sim?
          How much?

        • @PLANT: i haven't done a recharge, no. You?

        • @2be8: Nope

        • @PLANT: Gonna recharge $10 tonight, will see if the change has occurred tomorrow. Otherwise I will probably just stick with optus and call telstra stores every couple of days until it changes and they have pixel 2 stock.

Kinda bummed everyone is out of pixel 2 non-xl, but missed the f&f at christmas and not gonna risk missing it again.

        • @PLANT:
Recharged last night, still showing up as Telstra this morning.

        • @2be8: Did you end up coming off Telstra's system as a boost number?

        • @tryagain: Yeah, I think it changed over about 4 days after porting. Took me another few days to actually find somewhere with the phone in stock.

  • +1

We are experiencing a high volume of enquiries at this time

    Thanks guys.
Looks like we are ozbargaining Telstra's live chat :P

    • +1

All agents are currently assisting others. Thank you for your patience.

      • "We apologise for the delays" will probably be next haha

Just got put on to the virtual assistant D:
And then transferred right back into the line lol!

Please note, we are experiencing longer than expected wait times. It may take longer to speak with a human chat consultant.

  • +1

damn this is a great deal, I hope i'm not too late to try in-store tomorrow @ JB

    • Expires 30/04/18.

Think you'll be able to do it tomorrow.

      • I thought the main issue is stock ? not allowed to back-order etc. I hate the pixel 2xl and just checked that its only worth $800 on ebay.. not as high as I had hope but still a great deal.

        • +1

Not sure where you're seeing it for $800, cheapest is $980 currently.

        • That $800 is for a new Pixel XL, not Pixel 2 XL I am quite sure.

        • +1

@pennypincher98: Yep, $1k for the P2XL shouldn't be too hard.

        • Ahh sorry I see what I've done… that makes this deal even better! I will try my luck tomorrow and hopefully get the google mini and earphones too.

        • @KLoNe: Seen one on ebay already for less than $1000. With a whole flood of them appearing at once this is probably the best you'd expect.

  • Can someone who got told they would receive the Google Home Mini in the live chat please copy what they would receive from this link (You need to put in your reference number):
    https://www.my.telstra.com.au/myaccount/track-my-order

  • Just signed up. NUmber originally Telstra Prepaid, port to Kogan Mobile (had a spare sim) then back to Telstra.

Note, request the $9.95 delivery fee to be waived and they will.

In regards to the Google Mini:
"Lovely Rose: Please also note that The Google home mini offer is being provided directly by GOOGLE. Telstra don't have controls on their stock availability. "

  • Really tempted to jump on this, currently have a Nexus 6P and on Telstra pre-paid.
So if I port to say Vodafone pre-paid then go in store this should be fine? Also does anyone know what the cancellation fee is? 24x59? Or something else?

  • Purva told me I need to go in store to find "the best deals for new customers" - go in store or try again? Hmm. Decision is easy for me :D

Edit: she has also told me I can't order phones online. LOL.

    • +4

      Purva is drunk.

      • +2

Haha I reckon!! I asked her what the sales part in the live chat is for and it's gone dead silent.
