When Should I Buy a New iMac?

I'm looking to buy a new iMac, not in a tearing hurry
the retail price on the apple store is $2999

Are there discounts to be availed of if bought at certain sales eg Easter time or EOFY
Or is it true like the sales person at the Apple store said- Apple does not do discounts

Appreciate your help

  • JB has 5% off apple sales sometimes

Well, only if you want to fit in with all the other cool kids, with your $3000 Facebook terminal…

Hit up ebay when the 20% off codes get posted. Should be able to find something decent then. Bing Lee has a 15% off code? Do they do Apple Macs?

  • sometimes 5 - 10% off at some stores (not Apple), but most likely on older models

Q: When Should I Buy a New iMac?
    A: After your lobotomy

  • Are there discounts to be availed of if bought at certain sales eg Easter time or EOFY

Yes/no, hard to tell, sometimes its 5% sometimes its 10%, but the higher discounts are more towards end of line times.

  • Occasionally JB Hifi will have 10% off Mac sales (and in recent months it seems like it's becoming a regular event), and more recently the Good Guys and Harvey Norman have joined them. Apple themselves however never do sales.

However these sales are only on default configurations, so if you want to customise the computer in any way, you'll need to pay full price. I think this is why even a $3500 top line iMac only comes with an i5 and 8GB of RAM out of the box.

  • You're wondering if discounted iMac's is a thing?

  • Ask someone who has a student edge account to get one for you at discounted price.

  • Hey mate, if you’re looking for a new iAnything always check to see if a new version is about to be released so you get the most bang for your buck. A good site is the following:
