$790… Without coupon, damn good value really.. Anyone got a coupon for these units? :P Hoping it will work after 12.

    • Unless I'm mistaken I think the ThinkPad Edge 15 with the above specs actually went up to $999 overnight, I've just played with it and entered the coupon which brings it down to $784.50 … $5.50 discount, hardly 40%

What a jip, I was readying myself to buy that if it came down below $700

EDIT: I'm revoking my +1. I hate when places announce a big sale then bump all their prices up when the sale starts, dell is well known for it too. Almost ACCC territory.

      • No, I think you will find the increase in price you are talking about is due to the inclusion of a 3 year warranty, not the standard 1 year. Take out the 3 year warranty and you will see the price go down to about $785.

Anyway, the discount codes are not for the EDGE series AFAIK, how did you get it to work?

Tried it on a T410 and T410s, but all I get is a message saying "Coupon not valid for current shopping cart" - anyone get this to work? Or am I just too early?

    • yep same. the coupon code field says it is case-sensitive, tried both all lower case and all upper case, both didn't seem to work.

      • tried again on T410…working now.
might've been to sleepy to notice last night (and on a netbook), but had to scroll down to see discount which shows up just above the total.

    • Yeah it's not working for me either mate.

      :(

      • It's working for Thinkpad series only, I suppose. I tried it with T series and it worked.
But did not work on ideapads.

  • Yes it only works for Thinkpad series only. Too bad.

If my maths are correct, it is 28.4% off not 35%

    • Others will probably neg you for that comment but I'm giving you a +1 since I can't neg this deal myself, my frustration relates to the ThinkPad EDGE in spec mentioned above for $799 increased to $999 then discounted to $784.50 which to my maths is under 2% discount.

False advertising. Poor tactics from an otherwise good company.

      • I'd jump on one of those Edge laptops if there was a working code, under $700 and it'd be unbeatable (for an aussie deal anyway :P)

        Your maths is wrong.

        1% of $999 is $9.99 (10% of anything = whatever * 0.1, therefore 1% of anything = whatever * 0.01)
        Therefore 2% of $999 is $19.98.
        $999 - $784.50 = $214.50 (greater than $19.98, therefore greater than 2% discount)
        $214.50 / $9.98 = ~21.4929% discount

Faulty maths aside, it is still a dirty, dirty trick played by Lenovo to raise the price like that right before the sale.

        • Your understanding of his post is wrong.

He was comparing it to the original $799 price.

      • Click_It, see my comment above. I don't see where there is false advertising.

    • If you read on the Lenovo website it says up to 35% off—not a flat 35% off.

Your reasoning for a negative vote is not valid.

  • His maths is fine, your reading is wrong.

    2% of 799 is 15.98

    799 - 15.98 = 783.02

Therefore the discount is less than 2%

I have no respect for businesses who advertise in such a dishonest way.

  • Oh bugger, not valid for T410s it seems :(
