    Already have the premium version of ES File Explorer from one of the previous deals, but since this is free, I'll be hoarding it ;-)

      Premium version of ES is heaps better.

      I use it primarily for shared drives from work that I can access while connected via the work VPN service, dropbox and mediafrire support.

        I stopped using ES when they bundled that DU charge booster bloatware (I realise they probably addressed this, but it was a dick move) Solid Explorer became my go-to.

          I dont think the pro version has the DU booster. Pro is lighter compared to their free version.

          @liveyourlife: This was during the transition to a paid model. You will see plenty of stuff if you Google it. I had been using it since it was first introduced, happily I might add, until they got bought out. Then it just got progressively worse. One day, ads, on your lockscreen, completely outside the app itself. Essentially malware. Caused a lot of happy customers to jump ship. I subsequently paid for Solid Explorer. I would have paid when they moved to that model, I always remove ads if it's an option… if they hadn't infected my phone that is.

      lol I read opening line that it is best so decided to install… then I got to google play and saw the exact same text and realised it was the developer's opinion of himself, not the OP's description.

    I think this app is taking too much battery ! This comes to be in second position in battery info, (Android Oreo).

    Sorry but I can't move away from ES with root support, Samba, FTP, SFTP and more. Plus having each one in a new tab is lovely.

    Is there a file manager for Android that supports SMB v2/3? I've tried all the popular ones, but since Microsoft nuked SMB v1 (in the wake of the WannaCry ransomware I think?) none of them work for my network shares at home.

    Tried it. It is unable to detect any micro-sd card in a card reader or a thumb drive connected via OTG, Not worth it, had to uninstall. File Manager+ is way better.
