  • Great price! I bought it for $ 926 (including delivery) at TGG eBay 20% off deal in October

    • +1

      I bought it on 31 Dec for $898..

      edit

      It was 55" TV by the way

      • Is the TV a bargain at 1000 bucks?

        • certainly no…

        • @strayaali: so price aside, do you regret buying the TV?

        • @JuliusSeizure:
          Its alright I guess… smart tv, 4k n one remote to access my fire stick

  • great price, hope the 43" comes on sale soon too.

    • I picked up the 43 inch model for $598 for our bedroom when JB had it on sale a few months back, very happy with it.

  • Can this tv be turned swivel for different viewing angles?

    • +1

      If you mean have the base stay where it is but swivel the TV itself, no afraid it can't.

      • Thank you yes hsvprez

  • +5

    PS4 Pro owners do note that this TV has no HDR.

    • You sure?

      The specs sheet says:

      HDR (High Dynamic Range): HDR

      • +15

        Yes. Dont get tricked by Samsung. It supports HDR content, has a 10bit screen but it doesnt have a wide color gamut which is basically usesless.

        https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/samsung/mu6100

        • Does it do anything at all?

        • +4

          @lostn:

          It takes in HDR input. But the screen cant show the full colors. When you play a game like Horizon Zero Dawn on the PS4 pro, it will say HDR enabled, it there is absolutely no damn difference between HDR On or Off.

          For true HDR viewing pleasure, either get a high end Sammy or LG. Make sure the panel supports 10bit and wide color gamut.

        • +5

          so terrible samsung, thats like saying the tv supports 1080p but simply downscales a 1080p video into 576i
          I give up on Samsung

          @carlb:

          Ask anyone in the TV industry, Samsung is the only company that does this misleading practice.

          @carlb:

          With Samsung, if it doesn't burn down your house, you're good to go.

        • I understand some of these words…

          @KaTst3R: i'm not sure if you're being sarcastic facetious or believe that

          I think of them all pulling bs about QLED ULED suhd fast motion fake hz ratings

          @carlb:

          Some people are pedantic over technical specs, like myself. If a company advertises a feature but it turns out to be misleading, you can see why people might get upset about it. It is like MSY selling a prebuilt PC with a SATA3 SSD but the motherboard only supports SATA2. Yes it doesnt affect functionality, but that is not what you are paying for. This TV is cheap and perfectly fine for the average consumer, but Im just stating a word of caution for anyone who is looking to buy a 4K TV specifically for PS4 Pro gaming with HDR, cause I just saved that guy some disappointment.

        • +1

          @KaTst3R:

          Hisense N7 series has HDR10/wide colour gamut.

          The rtings.com review of the MU6100 isn't for the Aus MU6100 - it has much lower specs compared to the Aus MU6100. Eg the Aus TV has local dimming (the review TV doesn't), Aus TV is edge lit (review TV isn't), Aus TV has voice recognition (review TV doesn't), they both have different remotes etc. Plus the TVs look different.

        • @particle: Agreed.. that model is definitely different to the Aus one.

          Not sure how reliable that review is.

        • -1

          @particle:

          Read below review by techhead.

        • wtf is a "UHD Dimming" on the Samsung specs list

          is that just jargon for crappy no dimming

        • @particle: Is local dimming the "feature" where if most of the screen is dark, it turns off the backlight even on parts that are not dark?

        • @KaTst3R: Yeah, I mean you just stopped me from buying it for Horizon, so I am that guy.

        • +1

          @cc789:

          My friend bought this TV and Horizon is the reason how we found out about this fake HDR scam. Needless to say, it was sold off within a week at a small loss.

        • Hi - the equivalent US/Euro model is the MU6300 (see: https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/samsung/mu6300)

        • @lostn: Global dimming is where the TV dims the entire screen based on its content, including both dark and non-dark parts of the screen. Local dimming is where different parts of the screen are dimmed based on whether that part is black or contains content.

          Local dimming isn't as accurate as OLED tho which is the best for blacks, where each pixel produces its own light and dims itself.

          But while OLEDs are best for dimming to black, their downside is that they also dim very bright scenes, eg running Windows with white Explorer windows open, or a white flash in video or white background scene. In these cases OLEDs can dim the bright content significantly (over 50%), while LED LCD TVs maintain their full brightness in the same bright scenarios.

        • @Phorm: The MU6300 review TV has a similar look to the Aus MU6100, but the Aus MU6100 has got better specs, including local dimming (review TV doesn't) and being edge lit (review TV isn't).

          The performance is also different. The Aus MU6100 takes 4s to turn the TV on, select YouTube, and also wait for YouTube to launch. For the review TV, just selecting YouTube took 5s (and those 5s don't count the time it takes for YouTube to launch, nor how long it takes to turn the TV on).

        • @particle: Hi, thx for the update re specs - makes me feel better. Been running it now for about 2 months.
          Pro's: GREAT 4K picture (Planet Earth II, via Stan), can only imagine proper HDR. Sound is so good, cf to my older Pana VT20 (plasma), which even has a sub-woofer. Motion tracking, v good, as good as plasma. Apps: good range, and fast load. Channels change/load fast. Wifi - what can I say! Streaming 4K video via wifi and NO glitch/buffering. Kodi box MUST have Ethernet, and PS4 is iffy.

          Con's: SD channels are locked in "zoom" mode, taking about 3cm off all sides, which makes the pic worse than my plasma. Running SD channels thru my old STB solves the issue, but waste of power and hassle - and watching soccer on One via STB creates massive artefacts. Had enough of a paper trail on this with Samsung support (who cannot solve and keep 'escalating') to get a chargeback on cc. Lack of subtitle button. EPG menu clunky.
          Family convinced me to keep, as so convenient.

          Hope this helps.

      Cheapest N7 is $907

        OzBargain isn't always right, who would have thought? Pfft..

          Feeding the attitude back to you beta boy. Ask nicely next time, maybe you’ll get a different response.

  • When does price change online? Better to go in store or buy it online?

  • +1

    It's crap HDR, I wouldn't touch it

  • +3

    I have the 55 inch version (paid 1K 10 months backs) and wouldn't buy Samsung again. Wish I'd kept my previous Kogan. HDR is basically "HDR ready" and you won't see any difference as others have mentioned. Tv has that awful "global dimming" which you can't turn off and the screen goes nearly black when you select an input which is unconnected which is infuriating. The mpeg2/mpeg4 decoder for TV is the worst I have seen, smeary and blocky with too much 'softening' applied as crude noise supression. Picture is poor despite trying to tune it. Smart functions crash often, overscan is zoomed in too fsr and menus locked out. The remote is the worst, terribly cheap and terrible design. Cramped buttons and horrible shape.

    • +3

      I went to buy it after Christmas and the salesman at JB basically described what you have and said not to get it…. I opted for an equivalent Sony and I'm happy with the choice (although not a big Sony person).

      • Which Sony did you get? x70e I'm guessing?

        • yeah I think that's it, it's nothing special….but I'm happy

  • Any feedback on what the sound quality is like on this? Considering for a bedroom where no soundbars or extras are wanted.

    This is now $704 delivered at Appliance Central eBay code with PREWINTER

    • Good for people in the free shipping areas. Coming up with a $62.00 delivery fee for me.

      While I am debating whether to buy online and wait, or head to JB to have a look, they bumped the priced from $880 to $920. Nice PRICEJACK!

  • With the latest eBay 20% off sale, this TV can be had for $704

    (note - only 5 available at that link, so get in quick :) )

    edit: beaten above!

  • Do Samsung TVs have a freeze frame button for live TV? If there's a screen with a lot of data, like sports results, normally this button will pause the image (though the sound continues so it's not a true pause) until you unpause it? I can't find it on mine. My Panasonic can do this. The button is called HOLD.
