        Says Lexington Steele

  • Looks like JB is trying to clear out old AMD Dell stock before the new Ryzen laptops come out.

Edit: just realised that JB is having a 30% off most laptops

Min gtx1060 or no cigar, especially compared to last weeks Acer Nitro 32gb 1060 $1699 deal and the recurring Dell 7000 gtx1060 $1359 deal on their ebay. These need to be the bar around here imo.

    • Personally, Under $1100 for 1050ti, or around $1500 for 1060.

      • Agreed.

      • $1900 for 1070.

        • True. Im holding out for a good 1070 deal.

        • @ninjataki: I really want a 1080 but the prices are ridiculous. Like $4000 AUD delivered.

I'm all for gaming PCs, have had them for years.. but honestly, lately, when you look at these $1.5 - $2k laptops with a 1050Ti or 1060 and call it a bargain.. you gotta really ask the question, how much more worth are they over an Xbox One X or PS4 Pro, for example, at less then half the price, for gaming purposes. Now settle down, I've built and upgraded, as a hobby, a number of gaming PCs over the years and scoffed at console peasants like the rest of us. I get the multi use of a laptop and the built in screen on them as well, but for gaming purposes, I mean come on, thermals, screen size, battery life, not exactly the best on a laptop. But maybe I'm just getting tired, consoles now work pretty well in my opinion and clearly judging by the market share, by a lot of people's opinions. And sometimes, when you only get 30 minutes a week to play games, give me that $500 little black box please and let me just enjoy this without worrying about some random driver error or another Windows 10 update that breaks something else that worked perfectly just a moment ago, delaying my ability to play a simple game for more than 45 minutes before I get to the 'continue campaign' screen… And bitcoin miners certainly haven't helped the GPU situation for anyone wishing to upgrade. It just feels like PC gamers are being push out. A console that came out in 2013 is still optimised with love, pumping great games at acceptably playable quality and my 1080 cries only 1.5 years later (respective of graphics settings, granted, but keep in mind the sheer raw power comparison). Something doesn't add up here. But let's be real, we could see this coming for some time now. Developers don't need to optimise PC games that much when 90% of their sales come from consoles. But having said all this, I won't give up just yet.
