Logitech G910 Orion Spectrum Mechanical Keyboard at Harvey Norman for $126

540

Historically low price thanks to Price Hipster. Had my eye on this for awhile now. Good reviews generally. The macros come in handy.

Save $10, normal price is $136 at HN

How can they advertise 30% off if the normal price is $136 and sale price with 30% off is $126???

      • +1

        you don't believe the RRP

I've had this for around 2 years now, love it

I had the Orion Spark, just got this today as well.

    • Do you run the ARX app alongside it? Get onto it if you're not, shows system vitals at a glance. ;-)

      • +1

ahh actually i never bothered with it. will have to check it out!

  • Been using since Christmas, great keyboard. Only annoyance for me is I reguarly press the programmable keys instead of the traditional keys on the left.

n00b, nah but great keyboard, upgraded from a old school G19

      • +1

Is it really an upgrade from a G19 though? I'm still using the G19.

        • Mine kept disconnecting when playing games and stuffing up so it was a reluctant upgrade

        • @solidussnake: Disconnecting when playing games? O.o So you'd lose signal input? Do the lights go out as well when that happens?

        • @Munki: yeah i would run sideways and the lights would go and i would have to reboot or keep trying different usb ports

        • @solidussnake: If the lights go, it sounds more like an issue with the power chord - not the USB?

        • @Munki: nah it would work solid for a couple hours than spaz out randomly!! probably something to do it its on board memory

        • @solidussnake: Ahh damn that sucks man. Mine seems to be still going strong. Then again, I rarely play games nowadays. I still have the plastic cover on the LCD! haha

How are you finding the G910 compared to the G19?

        • @Munki: the keys are more solid and the flashing colours sync up with the mouse which is pretty cool but i miss the screen as it showed all 4 cores of my cpu :(

        • @solidussnake: What mouse are you using? I'm still rocking the G9x.

      • My G15 is still going strong haha

Program the G-keys to be the same as the keys on the left. e.g. G1 = `, G2 = Tab, etc.

It's been as low as $108 before.

I bought this a few months ago due to another OzBargain post. I haven't really used any of the features at all. Bought it for bargain sake! Can someone tell me if there is any special good use case for these programmable keys and lights?

    • I don't own the keyboard but surely there's keyboard shortcuts you use regularly for your browser like switching tabs, new tab, restore last closed tab, or alt+tab, win+r, win+x, etc.

    • Get onto the Logitech ARX App which accompanies it. It's available on the Android store. If you have a spare old android phone or a small tablet, it's a great use for it. ARX monitors system vitals at a glance, which is really handy while in games or process intensive work. It'll show you how much load is on the GPU, CPU and Ram, and the temperature of your GPU and CPU.

      • Because, I ordinarily need to see that…

        Good advice :)

I know people won't agree with how unnecessary that info generally is. Shrug. Flamesuit on.

Haha, yeah. For me it's important. When my computer is chucking a fit, it's handy to point the finger without having to wait for the mouse to be responsive. Like when video editing, crypto mining, or trying higher game graphic settings. It's most handy when you're trying to Overclock anything.
I kinda like to be sure the temperatures of my computer aren't getting too hot.
But yeah, there are other handy features to the app; ut yeah, if you aren't one for bells n whistles, then you probably don't need it.

I use one of mine as a shortcut to nircmd; one button press puts all my monitors to sleep (I know they don't use much power, but I like being able to switch them off on command). That's my only proper use.

    • If you like coding, you can get the SDK and program the LED individually for example if ozb has a bargain, light up RED color B A R G A I N !

  • I have this exact keyboard and when paired with the ARX App (which you install to any small tablet or spare smart phone laying around) it is awesome.
People always ask me about it when they see it.

  • Can anyone recommend me a keyboard to use with my smart TV ? Been looking for something for a while

  • Anyone who has used this before, are the keys quiet enough for use in a work environment? Looking for a mechanical keyboard for work. Also as cool as the lights are, to avoid the gamer look in the office, can the lighting be turned off?

    • It does make some noise. In particular if you are fast typer and thump your keys heavily, then it will be noticeable.

Personally I think it's a great gaming keyboard but I think there are better options for typing or general office work.

      • Find something with green or blue switches. Your colleagues will thank you for it. ;)

        • Slap.

          (s/he might take you seriously)

        • Maybe if I buy them noise cancelling headphones too ;)

        • @mryan64: Buy yourself the headphones and let them all suffer.

    • I had to switch from Corsair Strafe (cherry red) to the G910 (romer G) to reduce the annoyance to others while i used it in the office.

To be quite honest, during fast typing the romer G sounds similar to a standard office keyboard (dell/hp/logitech non-G).

I personally would recommend (myself waiting) G810/G413 for office use. Smaller desk estate and less glam.

      • Wow did they actually complain on you? I was actually worried with my Corsair Strafe MX silent (has the cherry red silent switch), but its actually been quite good. But I feel I could have got away with a brown personally. And that would have been better. Ah well, when this one dies.

  • How do Romer-G switches compare to Cherry MX Red ones?

    • I've got both Cherry MX Brown and Romer-G.

I'd save they are very similar except that Romer-G is quieter and shorter switch actuation.

      • Then Romber-G is very similiar to Cheery MX Speed/Silver.

        • Far from it actually. MX Silver is a Linear switch, Romer G is tactle.

  • Should also mention (was tempted to create another post):
