  • How much data do you get?

    • Looks like 6GB. Running on Optus 4G network.

Meh. Optus SIM deals are better. $3 for 15GB I think…

Edit: Not on special at the moment. Maybe Wednesday. Normal price is $10.

        • Where can you get it for $3? More info would be good as seems like you have some insider news

        • +2

whats the deal exactly. is this no contract and can i do a runner after 1 month for $6 etc ? just looking for a data sim for a tablet

  • "Invalid or expired promotion code. Please contact us or your dealer." when trying to apply the promo code to any $30 plan other than the Smart Data Combo (No expiry date) but that's a different product.

    • +1

And before anyone thinks they could park their number on this "no expiry date" plan, beware there's a $0.98 monthly account maintenance fee, so $30 would last a maximum of 30 months

edit: for $6 this deal beats the vodafone's 365 plus plan by a mile

  • Can I use the SIM for the Smart Data Combo (No Expiry Date) Plan $30 instead? https://www.etel.com.au/en/plans/smart-data-combo
Account keeping fee $0.98/month means the account will actually expire ~30 months without any calls etc.
    Perfect for receiving calls only.

    When does this promotion expire?
How long after order does the SIM need to be activated?

"A $20 port out handling fee applies if you port the service away to another provider within 6 months."

    • Porting Policy: If you applied for a new number from E.Tel, a port out handling fee of $20 applies if you request to port out your service to another service provider within 6 months of use. This fee does NOT apply if you disconnect your number.

      • In CIS, and it only mentions 20$ fee without saying anything about the number.

I'd be steering well clear of this mob. Too hard basket

  • I used this Etel plan while i went away on holiday (in Australia) during Christmas and it really isn't too bad at all. I think what attracted me to the plan was the bonus credit they give you. If you recharge $30 within the first month they actually give you an additional $30 credit bonus. So essentially you pay $6 for the sim card with $30 credit in it and you recharge $30 (total $36 cost) you end up with $90 worth of credit.

Ordered and received the SIM, the discount code works perfectly.
It uses Optus Network, pretty good reception in our area.

Got $30 credit in the account, data rate is 0.01/MB. Works out to be 3GB with no expiration date.
    Perfect for my tablet.

  • $6 is definitely a bargain. I saw these guys at UNSW open day promoting this exact plan and got a free sim from them. Ended up using it as my second sim slot and so far so good. They sent an sms reminding me to recharge within 30 days to get the $30 bonus credit, but I haven't pulled the trigger yet.
