  • Not the best review. Doesn't seem ideal for either photographers (shifts due to viewing angles or looking at different parts of the screen) or gamers (slow response)

    • The words "slow response" don't appear on that page. What you're reporting is statements like: "The screen shows good response rates in our tests, but may be too slow for competitive gamers." The worst latency, 22 milliseconds black to white, is better than 82% of monitors ever tested, but competitive gamers are not satisfied with the best 18%, they want to be the very best that no one ever was. That's why they still use CRT monitors in Streetfighter tournaments.

I agree with the general sentiment that this monitor is not suitable for those who are demanding extremely high standards of colour quality or extremely fast refresh times. "The somewhat limited horizontal viewing angles and not perfectly calibrated colors make it slightly less suitable for professional photographers. The input lag reported by Prad.de might restrict gaming use slightly. However, the Brilliance 328P is perfectly suitable for office applications and multimedia playback." If you're a hobbyist photographer or playing Fortnite on the weekends, this monitor is more than fine.

      • Uses a VA panel and is notorious for ghosting.

      • You clearly don't understand how seriously some photo hobbyists take their hobbies.

    • The review verdict from that page is quite positive imo:
The Philips Brilliance 328P6VJEB is a large and relatively cheap 4K display (Amazon: about 676 Euros/~$794). We liked the color representation, contrast, ergonomics, color coverage, energy efficiency, and flicker-free backlight. The somewhat limited horizontal viewing angles and not perfectly calibrated colors make it slightly less suitable for professional photographers. The input lag reported by Prad.de might restrict gaming use slightly. However, the Brilliance 328P is perfectly suitable for office applications and multimedia playback.

The screen shows very fast response rates in our tests and should be very well suited for fast-paced gaming.
In comparison, all tested devices range from 0.9 (minimum) to 636 (maximum) ms. » 3 % of all devices are better.
This means that the measured response time is better than the average of all tested devices (42.2 ms).

      • -1

If you want to play on a monitor that is running 42.2ms response, more power to you. I'm not spending my money on that.

        • -1

          I don't know, I don't care either, I don't play games.
My point is that, it says very fast response.
it says better than average of all tested devices.

It's your money, it's up to you.

  • 60Hz, 4ms.. definitely not for gamers.

    • +2

tbh, 'gamers' is ambiguous, 60hz and 4ms is normal. its probably not for twitch gamers or ppl who are picky.

      • +2

Sorry I should have said competitive gamers. The ones that get right in to playing ranked online games.

        • Wow.

        • Are all OzBargainers gamers?

        • If you're a console gamer, 60hz is all you've known. And those people still play online games.

    • It's a 31.5" 4K monitor. What kind of frequency are you looking for in a 4K monitor? Can you tell me the model and price of anything comparable? Because I'm not seeing any 31.5" 4K monitors with more than 60Hz. Also a GTX 1080Ti struggles to get 60Hz at 4K for most every single game. Seems like this monitor is not for any gamer of your calibre simply because modern hardware cannot produce the 4K framerates you demand.

No gamer would have ever been looking at a Philips display in the first place.

Philips excel on productivity duties. Photographers, videographers, office work, etc.

The colour accuracy, coverage, and contrast ratios are beautiful to work with.

Hell of a deal. Only $100 more than I paid for my gorgeous 1440p Philips display 6 months ago, which was an absolute bargain at the time.

    • +1

I got the 32" 1440p 6 months back too (for about $430ish I believe) and it's absolutely fantastic to work on - my partner and I are both designers/photographers/coders.

      • Yep, that's the one I have. Brilliant for working on. A little bit of black smear when scrolling, but the colour accuracy and perfect contrast override that small issue.

Nice monitor and decent price OP, thanks for sharing
For anyone interested, there is a whirlpool chat on the panel, but the one item I found of interest is a foreign language YouTube "unboxing" video. No idea what the guy is saying, but you get to see the boxed unit, and its included extras here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=icaOBUVafR8 then another link to a working video clip on the panel here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K2YfIZXAWSg ,This guy really likes the included 3 watt speakers for sound quality, but does think the colours look a little washed out if you are into editing, and gaming lag for competitive gaming as already stated above. At this price I think it a low risk entry into 4K, even if I miss out on using my new G-sync 4K Gigabyte Ti card to its best (I am not into the very latest games anyway), and I am also not a photo or video editing professional, so talk of absolute colour accuracy are of little interest to myself, a solid build panel, and decent quality picture VA panel will fit for me.

    • No problem, happy to serve.

I'm getting this error when putting the PRINT code in "This code can't be applied to your order."

Seems like the 20% not working.

    Any pointers?

  • +1

    ok got it working.

Had to change country of ebay account to Australia.

All good, thanks for the post, picked one up, and I was about to go buy this exact monitor from scorptec for $599 this week!
