    lmao keen to use

"Postal Service - No Tracking" US$0.00 on my $530 phone

    • No actually it's Free Express Shipping

      • +1

        Then why did you write

"2- Select "Postal Service - No Tracking" US$0.00
        3- Untick shipping insurance"

        on the original post?

        • +4

          My bad. Updated now :)

  • +3

Mix 2s is coming in a week.
The only problem is no many ppl can get it in the next few months.

    • Is this better than the $1829 iPhone X 256gb?

      • +5

This is more bang for your buck imo. Others might think otherwise…

      • +1

You can almost buy 4 of these and share it with your family and friends.

  • +13

too bad no headphone jAck or SD Slot

    • +1

Looks like one of the Sim slots doubles as an SD slot.

      • +5

        I own one - unfortunately it doesn't.

        • how is the camera in this one? I have the original Mix and its pretty awful.

        • +2

          @cosmickinect:

I haven't played around with the camera too much, but found it pretty acceptable. So far it seems better than the camera on my Onkyo Granbeat and Sony Xperia Z+.

Audio quality for video recording is pretty bad, though, but I suspect you'd have experienced that with the original Mix as it's apparently a software issue.

        • +3

@cosmickinect: Check out Marques Brownless youtbe review on it, he covers most of the bases including the camera

      • +3

Even though this doesn't. Dual Sim phones where one sim slot is used for an SD card are disappointing.

As soon as you need more storage they are a single sim phone like most others

        • Exactly my issue with my Redmi Note 4X….

        • I'd doing the run-around right now for the same reason. it's a very short list, and to find something on close to pure Android is even harder. I have MotoG4 at the moment and i might have to stick to that line by the look of things. OnePlus 5t has a version with Dual SIM and 128 onboard if that's space for you.

        • @peterpaoliello:

I believe that the Moto Z and Z2 have dual sim + separate SD and they would be above the G4 in specifications

    • Thanks for saving me 30 mins frantically reading reviews…

  • +1

Seem to have a typo in your description - it should say 6 GB RAM.

    • Hi im interested in your opinion on this phone. Thanks.

      • +7

Overall I like it. It's a really distinctive-looking phone, which was one of the reasons I bought it.

        Pros:

        Battery life is pretty good.
Band 28 is honestly a nice touch, as I don't seem to encounter as many dead spots anymore
Decent customisation options - you can configure headset buttons, shortcuts and physical buttons. For some reason the camera has a pervy mode where you take photos by holding down the volume down button while the screen is off if you're into that.

        Cons:

Video recordings sound like they're underwater due to a software issue
MIUI is a bit too much like iOS, so home screen management can be a bit tedious
It seems like I get notifications for everything my phone does and regularly get notifications for Xiaomi rubbish like their storage cleanup app
Battery management is a bit overzealous - need to manually configure which apps you want to allow to automatically start, as I think they're actually closed in RAM after a while.

        • +1

My friend has one and he agrees with the overzealous app killing

        • Also cons:

          No headphone jack
          No IR

        • +12

" the camera has a pervy mode where you take photos by holding down the volume down button while the screen is off if you're into that "

          Sold.

        • You can silence the notifications. I've silenced notifications from all my Xiaomi apps.

        • I don't have any of the battery notification issues described on the latest Oreo builds of MIUI 9 Global Developer.

    • Thank you. Fixed!

I’m starting to think Apple ripped me off

    • I just bought my wife one of these Xiaomi phones (the M1 A1). She's fairly impressed having upgraded from an iphone 5s. The difference in bang for your buck is pretty remarkable.

One slight snag: the Xiaomi sim tool is a bit skinnier than the iphone one. I tried to use the iphone sim tool to crack the tray open and i could feel it scraping the sides. Best to use the Xiaomi one on the side of the box.

    • I should think so, bang for your buck with these Chinese phones is unbeatable.

Over the past year and a bit I've dabbled with the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 (had 2, one with a Mediatek chipset and one with a Qualcomm chipset, the latter being far superior for cellular and WiFi performance), a super cheap Vernee Mix2 (bezel-less super-cheap thing, also Mediatek, it worked but very ragged around the edges) and have now settled with the OnePlus 5t.

The mark-up for the Apple branding is enormous, and while I'll admit their products are typically of excellent quality, you still won't convince me it's worth the $1000 premium you pay. The difference in build quality between something like the new iPhone X and the OnePlus is pretty minuscule, and wireless performance and processor speeds are on both are way more than anyone needs at this point. So why pay an extra $1200 in the case of the Apple product? Not justifiable.

Great looking device. Makes me feel ripped off with my Pixel 2!

    • +2

Pixel has one of the best cameras.
except that just a good phone with google stock rom tag(exp. tag)

    • Of course pixel 2 now is a rip off

    • I had the original mix and recently got a pixel 2 XL only because I replaced the screen 4 times and the latest fall cracked the back as well. The newer mix 2 has gorilla glass and slightly thicker bezels so it shouldn't crack as easily. Honestly, the pixel 2 feels cheap in comparison. The mix feels so premium, when I first picked it up it felt almost like when I opened my iPhone 4 for the first time. Having said that, the software on the pixel 2 XL is good though I don't feel it's worth the extra couple hundred bucks over the mix's.

The only things the mix was lacking was in the camera department and the small mono speaker, everything else was almost perfect.

  • Has anyone had positive experiences with LITB? I'm seeing a lot deals from them and some negative feedback

    • +2

I have received everything that I ordered without issues.

    • Little searching on the forum and it'll be pretty obvious

      • People generally speak up to complain not when things go well.

        • I'm a LITB victim like many on OzBargain. The Redmi 5 Plus bricked fiasco and very slow shipping time.

    • +1

I have received thing that I've ordered from them, though expect to wait about 6 weeks.

  • What phone would this compete with? Want to get rid of my S7+ edge. Hate the bloody edges.

    • -1

This is sth in bw of s8+ / note8 to me.

  • This phone + wechat and you'll have the ultimate espionage device known to the ADF.

    https://www.cnet.com/au/news/chinese-wechat-app-banned-austr…

  • Is there any warranty with this phone?

  • +3

hmmnn… Mixed reviews. Can't decide whether or not to buy.

  • +3

Nearly got heart attack when I saw 99". Then read again to see 5.99". Phew!!

  • +3

Now in China the price of mix2 64gb is AUD 600. This is really a good deal. And alough the mix2s is coming, except the camera, there is not a huge improvement.

  • Awesome find, keen to get one but want to see the details on the 2s first, hopefully its not a big jump feature-wise

  • +1

im curious why buy this when u can buy Nokia 8 for $450. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/360877

    For comparison https://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=8529&idPhone2…

Edit: Nokia 8 - Has headphone jack…better secondary camera…. and external card slot.

    • +9

Similar specs but they are for different markets

Nokia 8 is 5.3" and has 4GB RAM (already plenty),

Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 is a phablet at 5.99", comes with 6GB RAM and runs MiUI.

So it depends on what you want. Start with the size.

I am more bothered of the fact you linked the Nokia 8 to someone's post instead of the recent post from the legendary Sky Blu (me). Uncool, bro!

      • You can't really call one a phablet and the other not, when they're almost exactly the same physical size lol:

        https://www.phonearena.com/phones/size#/phones/size/Xiaomi-M…

        • +1

the extra size is due to the 18:9 screen, I guess phones now need to be bigger than 6" to be a phablet then?

        • +1

@Jackson:I'm just saying phablet is more about physical size as well as screen size. You can't have 2 phones that are physically the same size yet only call 1 of them a phablet.

        • @MrFunSocks: That's a good point. You're not wrong.

      • +1

Ah…im sorry bruh…didnt know it was frowned upon (new member).
        Will remember this tip. Cheers

        Again my sincere apologies.

        • Ok, bro 👌

          Have a potato 🥔

  • Shipping takes too long though.

  • This or Mi A1? Is additional price worth it?

    • They're in different leagues and budgets.

Personally I'm waiting on the mi max 2

    • +2

If you can afford it, get this one. You're getting better hardware. If this was on the Android One program, there'd be no question. Personally, I'd go with the A1 for budget and the fact it's running pure Android.

And the IR blaster. I can't live without that now.

  • +1

Are there any decent stockish roms for this phone?

  • Can you claim tax refund from products bought from LITB ?

    • +1

No since you don't pay tax in the first place.

      • why is that, the seller does not include tax because it is coming from overseas and not local shop ?

  • I wait for a deal of Mi Max 2.

    • +5

      Thanks for letting us know.

      • -1

To any vendor: Will you do it? I will definitely buy if discounted like this?

  • +4

Get this or oneplus 5T and wait for 5G band phone

    • Currently wondering if I should get the 5T, or an S8+, or maybe something else e.g. Nokia 8. I really would prefer Android One or a stock flavour.

  • Just bought one. Can’t wait for mix2s.

    • +1

      Don't forget to upvote.

  • +1

If money was no object I would get the latest version of the mix.
    Excellent deal sky blu.

  • Hmm, says USD $ 439.99 for me.

    • Hey same for me

  • I'm in the market for a new phone.. So many chinese phones out there.. it's hard to figure out which one to go. Xiaomi Mi Mix or the Elephone u Pro or the Onplus 5T… Hmmm..

    • This one has strong specs and is being offered at a great price. If you are okay with the screen size 5.99" then go for it!

There, I pick for you: Xiaomi Mi Mix 2.

      Just do it!

  • Came decide if I want this. I think the smaller screen compared too the Max 2 makes it seem a little off for me. Probably prefer the original mix.

  • Thanks OP! purchased one yesterday,
I couldn't get the stated $534.25 total amount however.
Order total came to $419.97 USD in PayPal then it auto-converted to $554.9 AUD.
Have applied for cash rewards (5% cash back will return $27.75).

    • +1

You have to buy in USD and use a no fees card to get that. In paypal settings change to not do currency conversation on your free fee card.

2 days after, my order status is still ’papckaging’…….

    • Can you PM the rep with your order number for a follow up pls?

    • +2

i'm here~~, pm me the order number and i will check it for you

  • This is simply unsatisfactory @sky blu

My order still has not shipped.
I had ordered on the 14th of March with the guarantee "Ships in 24 hours"

Store rep or OP, can you do something about this?
I am on the edge of losing hope with LightInTheBox…

    • Can you please PM the rep with your Order Number bro?
