Kogan 24" LED 144hz Gaming Freesync Monitor $179 + Shipping (Was $299) @ Kogan

300

Had this monitor in my wishlist from when i was purchasing monitors about a year ago. Just got an email saying it's now on sale. I have seen it go to $249 many times and i think maybe once even to $199, but this is definitely the best price it's ever been and the best price ever for a 144hz monitor.

I remember looking at reviews when i originally found this monitor and heard it was pretty good especially for the price (and that was at $249, so even more so now at this price). this is nearly down to what you pay for cheap 60hz monitors, so this is a crazy price.

Postage to melbourne suburbs is around $12 from what i can see, so seems pretty good. Plus there is Shipster you can sign up to for free kogan postage.

EDIT: Another user Scrimshaw pointed out that it is slightly cheaper again on Kogans ebay store. $176 using the PICK5 code, and for me it is free shipping so if it is the same for you its a much better choice. See his post for links and info.

The ebay listing may be cheaper for some. $175.99 after PICK5 code.

There are a few mentions of it on Reddit. Here and here and a WP one here

    • Nice. For me it says free postage on ebay, so its $5 cheaper and free postage.
Good find. Ill add this to the main post if thats alright, just so everyone will see it.

EDIT: Also those reviews/posts there definitely don't make it sound good (i remember seeing those when i was looking at this monitor), but i did find others that had got the updated model and found it to be on par with other decent cheap monitors (so meh TN colour and viewing angles, cheapish design such as very basic stand and controls), but obviously with the big benefit of 144hz and for almost as cheap as those 60hz monitors.

  • I was literally looking at this monitor except from a dicksmith website 5min earlier.

    • Dicksmith is Kogan. Kogan bought the brand Dicksmith when they went under, it's literally just the brand and it's 100% Kogan store.

  • i'd be interested if it was an updated model but this one is what 4 yrs old?

I believe it is an updated model. when i was looking at it 1 year ago there was talk that it was a then new model (within a few months before when i looked).

      updated with what ? 200hz ? or 4k ? you got god gpu ?

  • stack with kogan 50 voucher ?

    • I see no reason why it shouldn't, you dont need to put a code opr anything for this its just a normal sale. So it should meet the over $120 spend criteria for the voucher(s)

    • what is the voucher offer?

      • search ebay kogan 50 voucher

  • is this poor? Dynamic Contrast Ratio 1000:1

    • its good, but overinflated for sure.

Got one of these not too long ago. The screen itself is fine, no complaints. Great value! The only downfall being that you will likely need a stand of some sort. The Kogan stand is non-adjustable and angled downwards the slightest bit, which is sort of annoying. But if you pick up a cheap adjustable (VESA 100x100) stand off of gumtree or something, you'd still come out with extra money left over compared to other 144hz monitors.

If you can stack this deal with a $10 referral discount, the $50 off $120+ spend vouchers, and shipster free shipping, then it may well be the best 144hz monitor deal ever @ $119!!

    • plz send instructions…

Was able to stack the ebay $50 voucher, $10 referal and shipter!! Great buy

  • anyone got link to ebay $50 voucher?

  • How's a 144hz vs 60hz for light games like league of legends, dota-2, are there major notable differences and is it worth switching over?

    • yes

    • Yes even 120Hz is noticeable from 60Hz so 144Hz will be even better.

      • I'm using a DVI cable and my display is currently at 60hz. Do I have to buy an HDMI cable in-order to adjust it to a 144hz display?

  • I HAVE THIS MONITOR.

Ask me any questions on it

I got this a year+ ago for $220 Im pretty sure when it was on hourly sale I randomly looked at the website after giving up because I was looking on the website for a long time….

Great monitor especially for $195 shipped

    • Are you able to comment on the general picture quality of this monitor? I'm considering picking it up, I just need some verification the colours/contrasts are acceptable :P

It seems all good. Normal, fine to me

For accurate colours IPS would be good instead of TN but you wont have 144hz

        • Fair enough, thanks dude! :)

  • I got mine today. Has a bright green pixel in the center which seems more visible at higher refresh rates. It kinda grates my gears as it's near the centre and stands out against blacks. Otherwise it looks ok, not too much ghosting, colours aren't amazing but that was expected. Can't say I'm that amazed by high refresh rates.

i purchased this monitor. Used the $50 ebay discounts dropping it to $131.61 Unfortunately dead pixel on arrival. Quick response and getting warranty sorted now.

  • Just purchased, thanks for the heads up OP

  • Friend and I bought these, using the supplied Displayport cable the monitor would cycle through losing input 3 to 5 times, taking 30 seconds or so before returning to display, induced by changing display settings, some full screen apps or alt-tabing from those full screen apps. Problem persisted with another DP cable i'd removed 20th pin from. Finally solved with this higher quality cable

No problems with HDMI (though 120fps cap and no freesync). One of two monitors have a single Bright green stuck/dead(?) pixel.

    • Within a day, reverted to unstable display with new DP cable

      • Was that with both monitors? Seem to be quite a few issues with these. I can't test my display port yet but was hopeful it may fix a stuck pixel issue at higher refresh rates.

    • Just wanted to add that I have just received this monitor and the DP cable isnt working as well. My own cruddy DP cable which was purchased from MSY didnt work well either (catching glimpses of 120hz but will keep green screening and freezing). My HDMI as well as my DP->DVI and DP -> hdmi cables dont work swell either.

I've pretty much resorted to ebaying a DPv1.4 cable in hopes that the overkill specs and bandwidth will drive this with nil issues on my RX480.

did you end up buying a third DP cable and did it work?

      • Well i got my dp cable and it didnt really help..

But i seem to have fixed it!

For some reason I need the HDMI cable also connected to the monitor and now its running 144hz DP nil issues (the hdmi is also running at 60hz and my other screen is running at 75hz).

Without the HDMI cable it just doesnt work at all for me in any resolution and hz for the DP port

  • I ordered one and it arrived today.
The picture quality is terrible. I have only used it for web browsing so far and text looks horrible and hard to read.
I just went to my AMD settings to see if I could configure the display and it says that freesync is not available.
Am I doing something wrong? Are there some settings I need to tweak to make it not look so s**t and get freesync working? In the past I've just plugged monitors in and they work.
    Can anyone help?
    Perhaps I got a dud.
