Are we able to buy the mastercard using a Coles giftcard?

    • +1

Only with a plastic Coles gift card, if you tell the checkout person you’re “paying by card” and then swipe it.

      • Hmmm I get discount vouchers but it’s gonna be a PDF. Maybe self service check out?

        • +1

You’d need at least $105 as you can’t split payments.

        • @wxyz234: I was able to split it at self checkout last time.

        • +1

@Cisco123: Only through "insufficient funds and proceed payment" though.

    • Personally, I was able to buy these via e-gift cards last time. Having said that other have reported issues.

  • +3

Have bought 4 of these previously, using 4 different flybuys cards, some with same address. Got the points for all of them. Used discounted digital Coles gift cards from RACQ to purchase them.

  • The Coles MasterCard is just a prepaid credit card.. Correct?

  • Bringing back $50? buying $50 instead $100 coles master gift card has better value save extra $5

  • Can I use the Coles MasterCard at Woolies?

    • +8

      Yes, but why would you?
Use the Coles MasterCard to buy discounted WISH cards from Cashrewards.

  • Can I buy using Coles e-giftcard? I read plastic GC and swipe above, but any successful eGC experiences here?

  • Maybe a dumb question but I can use my accumulated flybuys points to get $10 off right?

    • +1

unfortunately not, flybuys points cannot be used in transactions involving gift cards

      • +4

But if you enable Coles Financial Services, then yes you'll get 10 off automatically.

        • Is there an easy way to enable this on your card? I've searched through all the settings and cannot find anything…

        • @forrester: You must have an insurance policy or credit card with Coles to have this feature.

        • @Neoika: Thanks for confirming this!

    • Just wondering if you have to shop $50 for the point what happens if you use $10 off to make it $40? Do you still qualify?

  • Can I get a raincheck just in time for winter?

  • How does a gift card work? Do you have to use all the balance on it in one go? Is the purchase fee of $5 automatically taken from your balance upon your first transaction?

    • The balance does not have to be spent all at once.
The $100 MasterCard costs $105 which includes a $5 purchase fee.

      • So effectively, you're paying $95 to spend $100?

        • +1

Paying $105 to spend $110 would be more accurate.

          Purchase $100 card - $105
Receive 2000 flybuys points (Worth $10)

          Total paid= $105
          Total received= $110 ($100 card + $10 worth of flybuys points)

    • Unlike a paper gift voucher, you can partly redeem the balance until all the funds have been used

  • how much is 2000 fly buys equivalent?

    • $10

      • -2

        Meh not worth the effort.

  • Are there any restrictions on Ticketmaster Gift Cards?

    • +1

I don't think so, but check the T&C's to confirm.

      • +1

T&C's don't say much. "Participating events" and "credit card entry" will block some purchases I guess…

  • Do these coles mastercard have a 24hours activation time?

    • +2

Last time I bought one it was active immediately.

  • Can I grab two new flybuys and buy to Ticketmaster gift card?

Can I use this flybuys points for next shopping without registering?

  • +1

    Thanks OP.

  • Beware of short expiry times with these. The Coles Prepaid Gift Card I picked up last night expires in less than 6 months. What sort of expiry did the rest of you receive?
Annoyingly, the card, at least the one I received, is a magstripe card, so it won't be able to be used at all terminals. Opal ferry wharf and tram platform readers only accept contactless for example.

Quite clever of Coles to flog cards now, as commencing March 31, the laws applying to some gift cards sold from that date in NSW will change.

Non-reloadable gift cards with ATM, Visa and Mastercard access are excluded until October 1 so there may be more sales of these so Coles can clear any remaining expiring stock without the need to provide further advice to customers or extend expiry.

My local Woolies had a small sign about the change. I didn't notice anything at Coles.

    • It says some cards like prepaid credit cards are not affected.

  • +1

My coles had a sign up about the Changes in the law @ 31 March (re: gift cards)

Btw my Coles MC expiry was April 2020

    • +1

Thanks. I'm annoyed at myself for not checking the dates but in reality I'll probably use up the card way before I do a big enough shop to collect the earned $10 off at the checkout, Not a biggie but it would have been nice to save the card for purchases where I want the protection of a prepaid card, OTOH, the OzBargainer in me says I should spend the value on the card as quick as I can because it doesn't make sense to hold an asset class not appreciating in value.

  • afl members who purchase reserved seats at the football cannot use ticketmaster gift cards to pay for them or at least you couldn't last time I tried.

  • +1

I purchased one today at Suunybank and got offended from this stupid blond girl teaching me "No u cannot use flybuys when purchasing gift card.. blah blah…" I said "Than what da hell is that big promo sign over there? How can you collect 2000 point if u don't scan your flybuy card????, just scan it"

Coles should train their brainless girl of their own promotion.

    • Computer says … yes!
