hmmm.. how legit is this and is this actually the "normal" price (freemium with IAP)?

Weirdly, can't seem to locate it in the apps store on my iPhone 6S. Downloading ok on my Mi6 though hmmm..

    • Link worked for the iOS for me and doesn’t say any IAP but I am sure that will change . Doesn’t seem to say it’s a special price though so not sure if it’s a deal or not but cheers op downloading now

      • Are you sure you installed the right one? It is PUBG Mobile - not PUBG Pocket.

    • I got it on iOS this morning and it works well. First time opening it had a message saying they're rolling it out slowly, so maybe give it a bit.

    • Well considering it's not the same developer, "Bluehole" - not at all legit, but I imagine they will make some bank from the adverts or however they have monetized this.

      • It's not the same developer but it's 100% legit as Bluehole is bought by Tencent. Actually Tencent has two studios working on the PUBG, this one is the (current) winner in China market.

      • Tencent is the exclusive partner of Bluehole. Some news is saying Tencent is buying Bluehole.

        • Lol.. seems like Tencent (wechat) is basically buying everything and created a microeconomy in China already (their version of cashless paypass) and expanding internationally. These guys got bottomless pits of money.

        • Huh, well TIL.

  • does it support android Bluetooth controllers?

    • I will try to use OTG to connect my mouse and see how it goes.

EDIT: You can download android simulator to play the FPS games on your PC.

      • If it's anything like fortnite on mobile it detects those running an emulator and only puts you in a game with others running the emulator too

  • Does not work for me.
Says it is not availble in the Australian store on IOS

    • +1

I managed to get it working. Selected the publisher and it then opened the App Store and I could select it.

    • I clicked the direct link through this article earlier this morning and it took me straight to the app on the app store to download.

      https://www.macrumors.com/2018/03/19/pubg-mobile-now-availab…

When I searched it via the app store it wouldn't show up.

    • Worked for me just now.

Is it plagued by Chinese hackers yet?

    • -8

Did you mean crazy russian hackers?

        CNN, is that you?

      • He meant Trump.

      • Fake news!

    • Yes

Open web browser on your mobile and type in URL https://itunes.apple.com/au/app/pubg-mobile/id1330123889 and it will take you to the app store to download it

    • Thanks! I had to copy that link and paste it into a mobile Safari page to work, for some reason Chrome wasn't redirecting to the app store as it has in the past.

      • Yeah same, had to paste into safari

    This isn't a deal.

    • +3

Yeah, it is - it's an awesome freebie.

      • +8

So I guess I'll just be posting the hundreds of games I see come in daily on Google Play which are free but contain IAP, just because I think they're "awesome"? shakes head

        • There's no in app purchases!

This is as much as a software freebie as one can get.

        • Sure! Why not? That already happens

Ok maybe not entering the market as free as much as ones that are discounted to free

        • This is a port of a $29 USD PC game. I dunno how much cheaper it has to get?

        • +1

@Arcticviper: They need to pay us to play it…

    • New Deals, Coupons, Vouchers and Freebies
      Freebie

      • Thanks for making that clear

          Transparency is important to me.

    It looks pretty awesome too!

  • Downloaded and played on Pixel XL - was pretty impressive for a freebie - thanks OP

  • +6

This is always free. Not much of a deal no matter how much you are a fan of the game. Posting this a deal sets a bad precedent for posting about other free to play/free to start games.

  • +1

Why does the game need to see what apps I have running, my browsing history and my bookmarks?

    • +2

      For science.

    • +3

Poor development? Just deny the permission and see what's broken.

    • Just an idea, but for Android maybe it likes to know how many apps are currently in RAM? If there's a heap it might pop up a msg telling you to close some stuff to free up RAM? I've seen other games do that.

  • it is buggy on PC and xbox can't imagine how buggy it'd be on mobile

    • That's part of the fun.

    • You can do better than 'can't imagine', you could have a look online and see that it was ported really well and runs fine.

    • Yeah it's actually pretty good.

lol Pubg. Unoptimized and unpolished. Fortnite has stolen the show.

    • lol.

    • peasant

    • True, my kids only talk about Fortnight. PubG is yesterday’s news.

    • Fortnite has stolen the show.

Choice is a good thing. Its retarded to become zealot one way or the other. There are other competitors to these too (H1Z1, Islands of Nyne…and no doubt the next Battlefield and COD titles). They're very different games targeting a very different audience and the only similarity really is you shoot people in a battle royal setting. But at the end of the day, more titles is a good thing, it encourages the developers to do a better job.

      Unoptimized and unpolished.

This hasn't really been the case for a long time now. Talk about flogging 6 month pre-release rhetoric. The real problems in PUBG go way beyond performance issues and everything to do with bad architecture decisions by the developers. They're slowly starting to address this, but at the same time some of these decisions mean that cheating in the game is trivial. When you have the developer needing to block valid 3rd party applications like virtualisation software, you know they have stuffed up in a big way.

    • Shame on y'all, DayZ is the daddy of all just like Doom/Counter Strike is the mommy from y'all FPS games nowadays

  • lol

Android user here - feel just slightly bad that the main link of this post points to iOS and I just want someone to know.
    :(

    • +1

Don't feel bad. Worldwide, Android has over 80% market share, so you can feel good the vast majority of the world's population made the same choice as you.

(Of course, with its minority share, Apple takes over 80% of the profit, Samsung takes the rest, and the others are basically surviving on fumes.)

But you can feel bad for me - I have both an iPhone X and a Pixel 2, so I am viciously hated by both tribes simultaneously! Stupid really, both platforms are great.

    • Affirmative action at work.

  • +2

okay I get this is a freebie but where do we draw the line? This is and will always be free so its not exactly a deal?

I would hope "Freebie" would imply that something was given away for free that would otherwise be paid or else people would start spamming posts about shitty free apps.

Maybe there should be a distinction between freebies as a deal and freebies as advertising something free is available?

    what do you guys think?

I've been playing the Chinese version for 1 month before it is translated into English as the international version.

Tencent who is authorized by the original vendor BlueHole built the mobile version so it's legit 100%.
To go-live this game asap ~300 Tencent developer programmers worked 3 shifts per day, 24 * 7 the news is in Chinese

The game runs on my iPhone 6s smoothly but i would say my phone screen is a bit small to play with enjoyment. almost exactly same as the PC version. Haven't found any IAP since I guess now Redbull is sponsoring the game as in the game you can get Redbull on the floor as HP pot.

    I highly recommend this game

I've wanted to see my ping on the PC version since they released it a year ago, and they give it to mobile wtf

  • +1

I reckon they've done a pretty good job on the mobile version, small things like auto sprint, auto loot for ammo needed and upgrade helmets etc

Game runs smooth and its funny watching people try to aim on a mobile.

chicken dinners on the go now!

  • belongs in the forums

    • Hey, first game chicken dinner club!

The last guy died to the circle, lol.
I wonder how many of these people have played PUBG before.

    • +1

Hate to burst your bubble but people on Reddit are saying their first few games have been with bots

    • Yeah, most people are getting a dinner in their first few attempts. It gets much harder as you level up. Looks like they use bots to train you and keep you interested in early games. Not such a bad thing.

  • +1

Managed to install it but can't seem to login.. "network error; login failed. please check your network settings". my internet is definitely working, plus tried 4G and still no dice.

  • Freebie, freebie, chicken freebie.

    Works great!

Time for a Razer Phone methinks.

    • Lol. The Razer phone doesnt play this any better than a $400 Xiaomi Mi6. Go figure.

      • They have a 30/40 fps cap on max settings, kind of a shame tbh.

        • Not really. The SD835 just can't go beyond those settings unless you run it in some stupidly low res and low polygon/textures. Hence why it's total BS what Razer is marketing.

  • Not available on Shield TV, would probably be an unfair advantage :) will try sideloading

  • +1

Downloaded the game, said i couldn't play it on my device, 10/10 would play again.
