Here come all the posts for each store's Boxing Day catalogue !!!

Time to log off for a couple of days I thinks………

    • Well, you can't deny that items will have their prices slashed at this time of the year, making them more of a bargain compared to other times of the year, though whether that will hold true for this year is questionable

    • dont bother logging back on mate, obviously havent been around as some of us on here.. we welcome the boxing day sales

  • +5

this is suppose to be a boxing day sale? its pretty much the same as the sale they have every couple of month…..

    • +2

I think it stops for 1 month before the mid-year sale and then starts up again for another 5 months…

  • +3

It's pretty sad to see Adelaide CLOSED for Sunday and Monday… I miss Melbourne shopping!~

    • i was surprised seeing that too! has it always been the same every year?

      • It's Proclaimation Day (sp?) in SA instead of Boxing Day so shops aren't allowed to be open.. or something along those lines anyway.

  • Meh, Same sale they have been having for the last Year and a half.

    Any other oldies here?
I remember long ago when Myer was more upmarket, and before electronic scanning, before computerised automatic stock control …
The post-christmas sales were real. They actually did a stocktake after clearing out lots of real lines at bargain prices.
Now, the "sales" are stocked with containers of cheap junk ordered specially for the sale, with fake discounts. ie a few items have been hidden in a corner at the "original" price, though few sell. Then pallet-loads arrive and are "discounted" for the sale.

Meanwhile K-mart is just about abandoning the sale gimmick, and even the $X9.99 pricing. Maybe K-mart will end up more upmarket than Myer, who are heading towards being next decade's Red Dot.

What is this post for anyway? This forum is not for links to catalogues. Where is the deal?

    Merry Christmas.

    • no no, you're correct. If i can shop at myer now, then its definitely gone down market haha.

I've also shopped at David Jones, i must be awesome then. Who knows, maybe soon I'll be abandoning Aldi for Thomas Dux. <no, i'm not>

    • They have always ordered specially for the sale, 15+ years ago…..nothing has changed

    • Kmart more upmarket than myer? Did I miss the sarcasm signal?

      • have you been to the kmart at ringwood? they are certainly trying to move up market

        • Not for a couple of years, how are they going more upmarket? Different stock? Or just store design etc

        • +1

the store design and layout, not sure if i like it but its more "hip" but the stock is the same. I havent see this new design any where else yet, so they are probably just trialing it.

        • It's just the new layout that will be implemented elsewhere (where possible) if successful. Actually Kmart has cut lines and just has more stock (shelf space) of the product lines available. They aren't moving "up market", just look at the products/prices.

  • Not much of a deal.

$700 for an Acer with a Pentium T4500 and integrated GMA4500HD is a massive ripoff!

You can find better spec'd machines (i.e. i3 with a better IGPU) for under $500 on boxing day:

    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/36766

(+ more better deals on staticice and other retailers)

    • But everything will be 10% cheaper when they ship from China next year! What a shame the shipping cost will be >= 11% of the product cost

      • They better not start shipping directly from overseas…I can't see the government sitting by and losing their GST income

      • -1

If Myer try to compete on price they have already lost (even if they direct sell from overseas) and they will kill their own stores quicker than any competition.

Myer's higher prices use to reflect their service. Once they cut their service only their "loyal" customers remained. Why would I buy Tontine pillows from them when I can get them from Kmart, BigW or Target cheaper any day of the year (let alone when the others have sales)?

These sales might be a cheaper than regular Myer prices but that doesn't mean much to bargain hunters ;-)

  • +1

Does anyone know their cheapest price on pillows (highest discount of all the time)?

    • +1

      Google it…

      • +1

It's 30% off from the current catalogue, what I want to know is if there was once a time that Myer has bigger discount than that (say 40 or 50%). Who knows someone here has a good memory on it.
Can you Google it? No need to be harsh to other people, I know that Google exist and I know how to use it. Cheers

The PS3 bundle is good value if you get the playtv.

    Sony PlayStation 3 Console Bundle

    $549.00

    Starts 26 December - Ends 26 January 2011

Hot PlayStation 3 bundle. 320GB. Includes console + choice of move starter pack, play TV or gran turismo (classified G) 5

    http://catalogues.myer.com.au/portal/offerdetails/sony_plays…

    • Harvey Norman is $527 for the 320gb with playtv.

      • +1

For $549, Myer should not put 'OR'. It should be PS3, PlayTV and Move Starter Kit.

myer is horrible. there sales are fake, the prices are not cheap and the clothing selection gets worse every year. I dont bother anymore.

Havent seen a good boxing day sale in years.

  • I worked for myer about 6 years ago, in toys, told so many customers to shop at target and big w, we'd compare catalogues and most toys both of us sold were up to $20 cheaper, yet myer was still part of the Coles group at the time

  • +2

These just seem like ordinary "sales" they offer all year

  • +1

this has become routine for ages….

  • Buffalo Hard Drives 20% off! Sweet.

  • dude……………………DUH…. doesn't take a genius to figure out these boxing day deals will be on

  • their sale price is still higher than other places like DSE, had to come back there to the the difference since they dont even beat it and guess what, you have you spend it at myer since its a myer_return_card

Whilst the main chunk of the catalogue is just the usual Myer mid-season sale. I can say (without to much subjectivity as an employee :P) that the sunglasses deals are good:

50% off Revo (which takes them from $300 down to $150) & Morrisey (which takes them from $250 to $125)
50% off some of the cheaper brands too, which take most of them from $70ish to $35ish

    • It's not listed in the catalogue, but there is a large list of selected sunglasses which are reduced, with 50%, 30% and 20% off selected pairs of Ray-Ban, Prada, Arnette, Oakley, D&G etc.
  • I am looking for a pair of RayBan or maybe even Les Specs as they are very cheap already and some funky styles too.

Raybans are usually a rip off even with sales, rather buy them on ebay. I got my Oakley Oil Rig for $149 at Sunglass hut using the $50 signup voucher which was good, as Oakley never go on sale until they are end of line.

If there is good sunglass deals though I will take a peek.. wouldn't mind a pair of wayfarers or orange lens aviators.

    • Sunglass hut had a luxotica f&f sale that just ended early Nov which was pretty much 40% off everything inc oakleys. I scored wayferers for 140 and another pair for heaps cheap too.

  • It's selected Ray-Bans, there's no way the regular run of the mill black wayfarers will be on sale, however, variations in design or colour may be (I don't recall the exact ones on sale).

I'll keep you guys posted on upcoming sunglass sales none-the-less.
