Massdrop X Sennheiser HD 6XX Headphones $214.99 USD (~ $279 AUD) Delivered @ Massdrop

110

Was in the market for new headphones and came across a cheaper variant of the Sennheiser HD650.

Read up numerous reviews and these appear to be great value for what they can offer.

Only downside is the shipping ETA of mid-late August (assuming there are no delays).

They are open-back headphones so not really made to show off in public unless you want everyone else to share in your music. Its more of an audiophile headphone you hooked up to a nice amplifier to enjoy in the comfort of your home.

Thanks hotmumbo

Tempting for the price but i really don't need it…or do I?

If you are even thinking about it then you need it LOL

  • Been around for awhile. Sometimes the drop ended but would resume anyway.
An old post of the same headphone: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/352480

  • I have this from 1 of the first drops which shipped in december. This is the best value in headphones now period. The 650 which 6xx is based on is a legendary headphone. Made in Ireland so it will last forever.

Can confirm, my wife is made in Ireland.

      • naughti boii

      • um…your wife?

  • What you are getting are exceptional performance in terms of price to performance ratio. I am truly enjoying my unit.

  • shipping ETA of mid-late August

wow, waiting 5+mths for a set of headphones is commitment

    • It is, but the headphone that you get and at the price you get them at make it totally worth it. I got mine in the last December deal and they're amazing!

Start searching for a decent amp if you don't have one

    • any suggestions?

But imo, his portable USB DAC named Bitzie is good enough if you only listen music from your computer.

      • I'm no audiophile, but I went with the E10K cos it wasn't too pricey and was mentioned on some forums.
Has no problems powering it and doesn't get close to maxing out the amp.

Dammit, every time Someone posts these I have to talk myself out of buying another pair of headphones

    • Same :(

While there's no doubt the sound quality would be top notch and the price is excellent, they aren't very stylish.

      • Some good information that would be excellent in the post description. I would have had no idea!

        • It should always be said, I agree but most looking at these headphones have done there research and are happy to pay the high prices for small gains. for me its sennheiser orpheus or nothing ;|

Got these the last time they dropped (so I've had them for about three months) and am super happy with them. Not a headphone connoisseur, but they sound and feel good to me. Uninformed people might want to know that they're open backed and give zero noise cancellation.

  • MassDelay is what it should be called, I cancelled my order of the Topping DX7s Dac due to their bumbling customer service.

    • Well isn't the idea that they get all the orders then manufacture them? That's what makes them cheap, bulk units bringing down the price - which means waiting for them to be made.

      • You don't take $417 USD of someone's money, make them wait over a month, stay silent for a few weeks after the due date, then announce there will be delays of up to another month.

        • A month's wait is pretty mild, most of them are 6 months.
Not communicating after the due date though is pretty scummy.
Extra delays again is pretty mild considering the nature of MassDrop. This isn't a service you should use if you want timely delivery.

  • And remember to add 10% GST for the new low value tax import charges after 1st of July + levy fees.

  • ordered mine back in Dec and finally came last week.

bought 2 just for erm.. kicks

Anyone who wishes to have instant gratification - happy to sell you one of mine at cost lol - paid for with my 28 deg MC then.

to me the wait was too long that both of them are still sitting on my couch unopened…

its a great deal- buy it, or not.. im not your mom
