  • Great price for local stock…

Who makes 5.1 inch phones these days….

    • +2

I would much prefer the smaller 5.1", the only reason I ever go for the bigger screen is they usually have a larger battery which leads to longer time between charges.

    • I don't mind a 5 inch screen size

    No sd card slot

    • I think it has one.

Edit: oh wow it doesn't. I have one and i assumed the dual SIM slot had adapter to take a microsd. Great phone anyway, i'd still recommend it.

      No 3.5mm jack either

  • Free one way calls to China. Permanently on.

Must be important person to be on chinese spooks radar.

Reality is the chips and design are the same as used by others, and the bulk of android is from google, if on google one its all from google.

And if you use optus or tpg you are going via huawei transmission kit.

Seems facebook and cambridge was the ones doing the snooping.

      • Yeah, surely there is more evidence to suggest western governments are pretty willing to hover up your data. Unless you are politically relevant to china, I'm not sure it matters.

Seeing as you would not expect any warranty directly from xiaomi on these gray imports (without a whole lot of hassle), you could install some decent android roms (operating systems) eg. pixel experience or lineageOS. Much more pure android experiences with nicer interfaces and less bloatware compared with the xiaomi miui OS on this phone.

  • So is this dual Sim a 4G/3G? And no B28?

    • Yes.

      • Is that global ROM from Xiaomi or rooted and installed later?

        • global ROM

Shopmonk has the 128GB version for $519 delivered from Melbourne (what I got in their email).
    https://shopmonk.com.au/xiaomi-mi-6-black-128gb-ram-6gb
Good if you need the extra capacity since this does not have expandable storage.
    (updated link)

    • Shopmonk usually dropship from Singapore, which can be quicker if you're in the west as it's by DHL.

Not always though it seems. Unfortunately for me the last phone I ordered from them on a Wednesday, was delivered on Friday by DHL, but to their office. Weekend, public holiday on Monday, Auspost shipping VIC to WA, didn't receive till the following Monday.

Still within their quoted time frame, was just hoping to have the same as others who ordered the same phone to WA and received direct by DHL the next day (was a replacement for the missus who had dropped her phone)

  • Can this run lineageOS? My old Redmi Note 3 was fantastic with whatever the rom flavour of the day was at the time (CyanogenMod maybe?)

    • There's unofficial LOS roms for it

      • This seems like a bit of a bargain for something that can run AOSP based ROMs no?
