How do these wire in? Are they user installable, or can they only be installed by a licenced electrician?

    • +1

Just checked, they still need a flex and plug installed for each one. Which means an electrician needs to do it.

      • So can you just put existing wire from an old downlight into these units?

        • +1

Yes you would be able to connect the existing 240V cabling you have into the new drivers. As long as the terminals are big enough for the wiring to fit in.

        • +1

Yes that is correct, your electrician can either hardwire your original 240v power source straight to the driver, or you can attach a flex and plug, and plug it straight into a surface socket in your ceiling. They are also available for purchase aswell, should you wish to do it this way.
          Cheers, Pete JD ✨

        • @JDLighting:

I just had new downlights installed in my ceiling in the past few weeks, and according to my electrician all downlights should be pluggable and not hard wired, so not to void the warranty by cutting the plug off the driver unit (as my downlights came complete with new driver and downlight) but I guess its also far easier to swap over driver units yourself if they are faulty or the older highly inefficient iron core drivers if they are plug/socket type. If hard wired you would legally need to get that done by a electrician.

The driver is external and not built in?

    • Yes, the driver is an external driver.
This has an Aluminium heat sink for faster cooling.

  • What does the order own?

I have used the at9032 in two renovations, 11w version of these. Very impressed with them, I paid around $20 a piece. Only issues I've experienced are that the plastic diffuser/lens has popped out of a couple (2/~30) of them - they pop straight back in - but make sure not to lose them (or at this price buy a few spare lights)

    • Besides the unlucky lense pop-outs, glad to hear you love them!! The AT9032's you got are an awesome light!

  • looks like what i've been after except i have 10mm holes :/

    • +3

      you mean 100mm ??

      • +1

        nah i mean 10cm ;)

        • didn't you mean 4 inches :)

        • +2

@kamban: doesn't matter, some people say it's not the size, but what you do with it.

        • @newdad: Yeh that's what she said too ;)

    • +2

@kyuss09 , The faceplate overall diameter of these downlights is 110mm with the minimum cut out size being 90mm.
If all your holes are a perfect 100mm (no rough plaster edges), the 110mm faceplate should cover the holes fine if you align them correctly. 👍

  • the light output seems a bit low based on the power used

is the model 9028 or 9018?

any chance of cool white available?

  • I just added 10 to my cart on your website & your ebay store ($5.99) and it worked out slightly cheaper on eBay after applying the code PICK5.

    Website - $49.90 + $17.85 shipping = $67.75
    eBay - $59.90 - $3.00 PICK5 + $9.95 shipping = $66.85

  • @JDLighting

How many in a box? I'm building a new house and builder uses the same lights.

I just want to buy a few boxes and store them in their warehouse.

    Thanks!

    • Just a heads up, buy on eBay ($5.99) with the code P10EASTER and it should be cheaper.
eBay 10% off Sitewide ($75 Min Spend)

      • Thank you!

      • I must be spesh!

Ebay keeps telling me "We can't apply this code until you reach the minimum order total."

        I have Items (48) AU $287.52

        • Yes I just tried with 48 & got the same message. I think there is something wrong on eBays end.
Maybe contact them because the message doesn't even make sense.

        • @WatchNerd: Ok this wont work. Because max # of items is 10 and the value is only $69.85 (Less than $75 Min).

I'm gonna be an a-hole here and do 2 transaction of 9 lights and 1 extra item of +$10 to make the $75min. Then buy the remaining 20 lights from the website $99.8 = free shipping.

I'm checking with estimator to see what spotlights cost me now :p

        • Because max # of items is 10

Ok sorry I missed that detail.

  • Which flex is required for use with this light? 2 or 3 core?

    • Also, at checkout, order is over $99 but shipping is still being added.

      • Shipping isn't free for: WA, SA, NT & Tasmania. Which is pretty irritating because I could do with a heap of these and the $40 shipping kills it…
