£9 Hotels in The UK Sale Starting 6AM 29th Dec UK Time - 4PM Wed QLD Time

20

The next £9 room sale at Travelodge UK starts 6am Wed 29 Dec British Time - 4PM Qld time. The deal’s valid for stays 1 Jan to 29 Dec 2011. (Normally you have to book 21 days in advance, but for this sale only, you can book anytime.) The usual price is £29 to £59, so this is a top little deal.

Also another unique trait of this sale is that its for bookings from the 1st. In previous sales you have had to book for 6 months in advance. When we were living in the UK this is how we would get around to see the country. They are kid friendly, clean and really just awesome.

Would highly reccomedn getting in early hence why I have posted early so you can start planning now. If you happen to be planning a trip to the UK this year then this is the way to do it.

My personal favourites are:

Covent garden - central London hotel close to all the action - These ones will go first so get in quick! if you are a bit slow (please note the site will be slow) then often after an hour some rooms on some nights will go to £19. Still cheap though and we have stayed here on a Friday night in April before although that has to be the cheapest deal of my life.

Edinburgh city - Please note that trying to get the cheap rooms in August is always a bloody nightmare!

Brighton Beachfront. Its important if you are planning a Brighton trip that you choose the beachfront one as its close to all the action. The not beachfront one is still o.k but you will need a car.

Kendall - FOr those that fell in love with the Beatrix potter film last night. Although not in Windermere its only a 20 minute drive from it and there is no cheaper way (at all) to do the lakes. Somehow we stayed here for a week over easter 2 years ago. Well almost there was one night we had to go to the one at Burton down the road and check back in and also one night we had to pay £19 and on this sale we had the book the room one night at a time. You will also need a car if you want to stay here. (you could rent one from Edinburgh and drive down)

Extra note: Parking

Travelodges will always try and charge parking but most of the time (apart from places like London where there wont be parking anyway) you can park across the road for free.

Good luck and if you dont make the sale in the first few hours dont despair as you will still find the odd bargain.

  • UK Travelodges' are one of the most run-down and filthy hotel chains i have ever seen, you'ld b better off sleeping on a park bench

  • Absolute rubbish, I just came back from a friend's wedding in Warrington in the UK and stayed at a Travelodge for 3 days. Nothing special, just cheap clean and basic. For the money I paid it was a bargain, nine quid is a steal.

  • With the current snow if you want to put your wife and 2 kids on a park bench then thats cool. I often have trouble finding somewhere to plug in the wifes hair dryer at the park benches especially the ones in covent garden where they make it difficult for you to sleep on them.

All of my experiences have been pretty good and in 2008 we stayed in 14 different travelodges for the majority averaging £9. Its no Hilton experience but for the money its great! Next time your staying in the country look out for the £19 devere sales or maybe the 50% off uk hilton sale at:

    http://www.hilton.co.uk/HiWayWeb/appmanager/portals/brand?_n…

Dont bother looking this up for Aussie Hiltons no bargain but definatly for the UK ones. Although I must say some hiltons have been as clean as a Travelodge :)

    • What do you recommend fun wise if I'm staying in London for 5wks in feb.? Staying at Euston travelodge with friends. Thanks!

      • Hope you're bringing some serious money with you :-) 5 weeks is a long time, you're going to be able to see a LOT in that time.

Sport: Go see some football. Forget the big premier league teams, the tickets are silly money. There are plenty of lower-league teams where youc an see a good game and not spend too much. QPR are on the up at the moment for example

Boozing: The West End if you've got the money, Soho is great (gay or not it's a great night out), head east to Hackney/Shoreditch for the young hipster crowd, Shepherd's Bush if you're missing the fellow Aussies

Museums: Nearly everything is free (for the moment at least, until the Tory $cum in power have their way). Both Tates, Natural History museum, National Portrait Gallery are all good if you like that kind of thing. Tower of London's well worth paying for (get the audio tour)

Music: It's been 10 years since I lived there but Camden was always good. I'm sure there's more round near Hackney/Shoreditch nowadays.

Cheap: Markets, esp. Brick Lane on a Sunday (mind your wallet), take your mates to the park

Daytrips: Head down to Brighton for a weekend (still the only place in the UK I'd ever want to move back to) and get out to the south downs. Do a few days way away up North somewhere if you can.. February weather will be miserable though.

There you go, nothing you can't get from a guidebook and I'm sure everyone else will give you something different but that's all I can rattle off in 5 minutes. Have fun! (ex-Londoner, became an Aussie when the weather, money and miserable people became all too much)

        • yeah i've got my wizard card with 6k limit, and will pad it out with some cashola too haha.

i will aim to do everything you've mentioned here. glad we chose to stay in the epicentre of london, even if it meant sharing a 10square metre room with two other buds. will be cozy. really appreciate your tips on the trip - i've been studying the guides sure, but none give a concise or tailored answer.

  • +1

Just checked. Biggest scam. Out of hundred options I looked at there was only one hotel on a Sunday was £9!!!
