Telstra Sim Only Plan $49 a Month for 25GB - New Customers Only (12 Month Contract)

44

This deal is back on today after recently expiring with Telstra - no bonus gift card like at JB Hifi but still a pretty good deal.

The website looks to say this deal ends on the 4th of March so who knows how long it will last.

Probably should wait for next round of JB HIFI offer.

    • Jbhifi deal with $200 giftcard is valid until 30 April. Garden city store.

I really dislike Telstra and their never ending deals for new customer only.

    • Yup, that’s how they treat their existing customer. I asked them if they could offer some loyalty credit and flatly say no and they won’t do it like they used too except for new customers who ported in.

    • I seem to have done ok. Since October the combined data pool of me and my wives services has gone from 26GB to 45GB. 10GB of that we were just given, 9GB was a result of me asking for more data.

Both were initially 12 monthbplans but were off contract at the time we had extra data applied, and continue to be off plan.

  • This looks like one of the Mx plans. What's the experience with them? If you go in store or call them for issues do they turn you away and say you can only use the online systems?

  • On the home page (https://www.telstra.com.au/) the big banner ad at the top says offer ends "3 April 2018" (so perhaps it's a US/AU date reversal thing)

  • How is this still a deal??

  • +8

JB are still advertising this deal as the M plan including a $200 Gift Card
    https://www.jbhifi.com.au/features/phones/activatenow/

(M plan includes in-store and call centre support unlike Mx)

Yep, JBHifi Plan is way better.

      • +1

        Yep, much much better.

        • +1

          Very much better

    • JB's plan is very much way loads better.

  • I am an existing telstra user … chatted with the store rep and got the extra data added to my account.. it was earlier 20GB .. now its 25GB ..

    • They are giving a 5GB bonus on all the plans at the moment? Nothing special.

      • Does the bonus have to be obtained at the time of signing, or is it possible to obtain at a later date?.

      • Not really.. I joined Telstra at 10GB .. and got additional 5GB with the plan.. moved to friends and family and got another 5GB as christmas offer.. now another 5GB yesterday making the total to 25

        • moved to friends and family and got another 5GB as christmas offer

That's because the plan has 5GB more. It's not like they "gave you another 5GB".
I get the normal 15GB with 10GB bonus data - 5GB just for joining and 5GB for having a data share sim ($5/month, cancel anytime) for one month.
They offered me a third bonus 5GB if I were to take out another service with them but I declined, I've got more than enough already.

        • @pennypincher98: yes.. but they declined initially… even on ozb there are comments saying it was declined many times.. depends on the rep ..

  • Dammit! I’m already with Telstra and I tried to get them to match the Easter deal - the rep told me he could give me a good deal and put me on 15GB! I thought hang on, I’m already on 17GB… :(

Would love to get the JB deal but problem is numbers have to be ported from another provider! Argh!

  • Merged from Telstra $49/Month - 25GB Data Mx BOYD Online Offer
    Go to Deal

Looks like its back again. From what i can see, the JB HiFi deal is also on, which works out better as you get the $200 Gift card and its a "M" offer, not an "Mx" offer. Here is the link for JB……

    https://www.jbhifi.com.au/features/phones/activatenow/

I cant see an end date on the website but, can see that the bonus data is valid until 25th of October. Scroll down until you see "Things that you need to know"

"•Bonus Data Offer: Bonus data offers ends 25 October. Bonus data will remain on your plan until you recontract."

I dont believe this is a dupe, as all previous deals have expired.

    Thanks,

      Motorcross riders only. Racist.

      • haha…sorry mate.

        Mx V's M….is that ok?

      Great deal!

Can you bundle a phone for an extra $10, as per previous deals?

I have this deal from ages ago

    • Dont forget the extra 5GB bonus. Head to Telstra 24x7 chat once you sign up to this plan.

Word of warning YMMV if you will get this extra 5GB however.

Definitely pays to ask. I found Telstra Chat Support outside normal Australian business hours most helpful. I signed up for the Google Pixel 2 XL for $59/month (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/363865). Then, I asked Telstra to knock off $10/month and add 10GB's/month of extra data. Said my friend received the deal. Telstra obliged. So, all-in-all, I have a Google Pixel 2 XL for $49/month, unlimited calls & texts, 25GB's of data, & received a free google home mini & earbuds.

Ask for accounts/billing, secret tip at no charge.

    • IF you want a fairly basic Foxtel package I think that deal on the bottom of the JBHiFi page is not too bad - $20 for IQ3 Entertainment plus either Drama or Movies. However to enter the 21st century you would need to add HD for $10. Need to be a Telstra customer and only for new Foxtel customers.

I am no fan of Foxtel. It just seems far too much for a lot of stuff you don't want to get the bits you do want. Never had it.

    • So as a current T customer, I'd need to port out and apply for the $49 plan with 25gb. I'm currently on 15gb paying $50

      • If I were you I'd just contact Telstra (Chat Support is probably quickest) & ask them to match the deal, i.e. give you a $1 discount & extra 10GBs of data. Just tell them you've been a loyal customer & deserve the same deal as offered to new customers.

        • Pawan = nada.

As i check you have only one service with telstra if you add new Number with telstra then you will get get bonus data on Mx plan at $49/month with 25GB data .

I'm so sorry I wish I could give you better deal in terms of price or more data however, we are not authorize for that. For now this is the best we can do for you. You can take your time to make your decision. We do understand the value of your hard earn money. So need to hurry , please take your time.

          • @chachi: Sorry for the dud lead, however I believe you just got a dud Telstra support person. Hmmmmmm, maybe instead of relying on the loyalty spiel, maybe you can tell Telstra your friend got the same deal? Do not take no for an answer. Ask to speak with someone else if they fail to give you the deal. Good luck!! & let me know how you get on.

            @chachi: @TristanJ:

I think they’ve cracked down. I had to port out and back in again. And doing it so quickly seemed to create some issues on the port back in, took a week to resolve (rolls eyes).

          • +1

@chachi: @LoopyLou: Perhaps something to do with the Telstra account still being in the Telstra system after you ported out. I remember reading the JB Hi-fi team were calling Telstra to fix the issue for those Telstra customers who ported out for 5 mins then signed up for the Google Pixel 2 XL $59/month deal.

            Yep exactly.
