These new ones appear to have Apple Homekit support built in as well!

    • Thanks for that I'll edit the post
      I don't use homekit so I wouldn't know haha
      .
Actually I'll wait until others can confirm

    • Where did you get that info. From my understanding yeelught are still 5 months away from delivering on this.

      • Its in the description of the item, it states its "AI Ready" and specifically mentions homekit. If I'm wrong, happy to be corrected on that. Just going off the information given.

      • This will be software based authentication for Homekit.
For now, you can use Homebridge.

  • Soo what's the difference? A Little bit brighter than Version 1?

Current one seems like it can already do everything this one can as far as I can see

    • The lumens has increased by 33% (600 -> 800). To me that's worth it but I suppose it's not for everyone.

Also standby wattage has been reduced from ~1.2W down to 0.5W.

        • Size has been increased as well.

        • Closer to the Philips hues at 0.4w

        • Maybe it's feeling hot

Do you know anything about color accuracy? The first version display yellow as green :(

        • +1

I dont see green when selecting yellow?

        • +2

no sorry I just ordered it
I have a similar problem on the first generation bedside lamps - the colour reproduction is pretty off. Hopefully it'll have been fixed. I'll report back when it arrives :)

        • @lux:

Cheers, I also found the colour accuracy disappointing, I could never get that warm red or burnt orange I wanted without it looking green. It'd be interesting to see if they have improved it with this version.

  • Double the price of the OG version for supposedly 800lms is a bit much.

  • How are these compared to Philips Hue?

    • +4

      Cheaper

I find the v1 to be too bright for night scenes. I have all my globes set to a brightness of 1 and wish I could go lower. Am I the only one who wants reduced lumens??

    • +1

The lifx bulbs (I only have the original color bulbs) are much, much more beautiful at very low lumens, compared to the yeelights. The color is much more true, over a wider range, especially when low. I have and use both, but the lifx are like cadillacs esp for low light, you might try…

    • I have one of the rgbw bulb and Mi WiFi lamp and yeelights strip behind tv all on in media room on low and colours like blue (except light strip that changes to match. TV), and it works great for watching tv

      • +2

How do you have the light strip change to what is on the TV?

  • Does this support google home command features?

    • +1

Yeelight supports Google Home, so these should work.

    • +1

      Via yeelight app

  • Thanks, much better value than the older version at $20 that consumes more.

    • Less then 1w difference

    • A saving of about 4 cents a year.

      • +1

actually, it's more than a few cents

        assuming it's 0.7W difference

        a yr's differnce will be 0.7x24x365=6132W

        assuming it's 25 cents per 1kwh

the standby cost difference will be $1.5 per year

        • Only 6 years to save the cost difference between the globes and to justify buying the newer version. On it now!

        • +1

          @MorriJ:

          Yes 6 years plus there's a 200 lumen difference.

  • Thanks OP, got 2, fingers crossed for the HomeKit support 🤞

  • I need a couple of smart LED bulbs to use in my house when I'm out on vacation. hopefully to deter break ins..
    is this the cheapest available?

    • Nah, you want the previous generation, $10 cheaper. Will do the same thing.

How are you planning on automating it? Through phone? Schedules?

      • The previous is crapper, it's 200 lumens less and consumes more electricity. I know you don't understand maths, but trust me.

  • Argh. Out of stock :(

  • Do these make a low buzzing sound?
