Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 Global Version, US $369.99 (~AU $488) + Shipping (AU $2.54 AliExpress or AU $19.04 DHL) @ AliExpress

1370

I've had my eye on this phone for a while now and this is the first time I've seen it under AU$500.

Customer reviews and photos appear to indicate this is the "official" global version which comes with EU charger/Global ROM and sealed English packaging….

You can also grab a seller coupon to save another couple of bucks and don't forget about 5% cashrewards.

I've already taken the punt (DHL shipping) and also purchased the following tempered glass screen protection (XDA peeps seemed to like it):
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Original-IMAK-Xiaomi-MIX-2-S…

I don't know how long this price will last but I guess it's a holiday special and will be good for another day or so until Eternal Team are back from "Tomb Sweeping Day" vacation :)

Edit: price went up around lunchtime then dropped back down at around dinner time (8/4/2018)…. deal was expired then unexpired appropriately :)

Perhaps the price is coming down because of the Mi Mix 2S?

A$830 with 30-40 days shipping (and that's supposed to be DHL!). Doesn't seem to have band 28 which is the desirable one right?

      • I bought my wedding ring from aliexpress and it took like 11 days even though shipping time said 60-80 days. That lead time must include manufacturing time.

        • +3

Or covering themselves for a 'worst case'.

    • +3

In case you missed it though, no B28 on the 2S. It's got a lot less bands actually.

      • -1

lack of all australian bands and no australian warranty to me relegates these china droids into don’t pay more than $250 …… if people are talking $500-$600 you can get phones locally with support and all our bands eg office works axon 7 $360, LG have also done a price drop.

i bought my son an A1 ….$230 on ebay, but he is 11 years old , so if it breaks he can make do with an older one until replaced, and if he has no coverage he can tether off my phone.

        • +1

Where can I buy the axon 7 for $360?

Seems like it's out of stock everywhere or massively overpriced where it is in stock.

      • +1

The 8gb 2S has band 28 and I think all other bands that we'd need in Aus. But yes, the 6GB doesnt have all the Aus LTE bands.

see banggood. I had a better source somewhere but I seem to have lost it.

        • Ah, that's an interesting point. I feel like it makes things unnecessarily complicated but I guess Xiaomi have their reasons.

  • What would be the delivery time on this device?

    • -1

If you use DHL it takes between 26-34 days which costs US $14.44 (AUD $18.81) or Ali Standard shipping takes between 38-59 days which costs US $1.92 (AUD $2.50)

      • +2

Oredered in Feb and arrived in less than 2 weeks from Mi official store on Aliexpress.

        • +1

Which store on AliExpress do you think is the official Xiaomi store? I didn't think they operated an official store on AliExpress.

        • +2

          @mckennal:

Xiaomi don't have an official store on AliExpress…. I searched for it before but Reddit and computer says no

        • +1

          @mckennal:
My mistake, it was named xiaomi online store so i thought it must be the official one. Had a look and seemed to be a reseller.

      • +1

What DHL shipping are you getting? All my DHL packages come in 2-4 days.

        • Done Him Longtime - sorry I know racist as hell, but I wanted to be really witty and that's the best I could come up with.

        • +2

i ordered a xiaomi on ebay, said australia or HK stock ….. arrived within 3 days via dhl from hong kong ….. faster than australia post from wa to vic.

        • My transaction page after purchase estimates DHL with estimated delivery only 8~16 days…. could just be them covering themselves with a worst case scenario to include potential processing time delays in the product page

        • +1

@singlefished: DHL has been flawless every time. It's all on the senders side. I've used it plenty of times throughout the year even Christmas season over many years and it's always 2-4 days.

  • -7

I think the extra $100 is well worth it for the Mix 2s

    • +20

where can you get the Mix 2s for $590?

    • +5

The RRP in China is roughly equivalent to AUD$ 660. Resellers will definitely add another $200 - $300 on top of it. Most likely the cheapest Mi Mix 2S you can get in Australia at this time would be AUD$900 and that's for the normal specs model. Higher specs one (8GB+256GB) will definitely cost you around AUD$1100.

  • -5

    Ebay is cheaper tho?

    • +8

      Any link?

  • +7

    5% cashrewards (i use the chrome extension) = US$18.35
Seller coupon (on product page) = US$2
new buyer sign up bonus = US$4

    US$24.35 (AU$31.63) further discount

    • Seller coupon (on product page) = US$2… new buyer sign up bonus= US$4

      Thanks for the find altomic. I don't have an AE account so not sure if the coupon is a code or is automatically applied at the checkout. If it's a code, then cashback may not be payable even if you get a tracking email as there aren't any codes which are currently listed on CR;

Cashback may not be payable if you use a coupon code that is not listed on this site.

You will be risking US$18.35 if it is indeed a code you're using, so please keep this in mind as you may not be paid any cashback via CR (or any other site with the same terms).

Good price for great specs. However it looks like it may take a good couple of months to receive it.

    AliExpress Standard Shipping: 38-59 days
    DHL Express: 26-34 days

Not sure how a 3-day holiday can add an extra 3 weeks to express post, but here we are :O

    • Yeah can someone else comment on whether this is just an error. Because from what I heard people who use DHL get it within two weeks, is it because of a massive Handling Time or something?

      • +1

I've found everything I've purchased from Aliexpress (regardless of seller) has come much much quicker than the posted time. I've bought maybe 50 things there over the years and nothing has even taken the minimum advised time.

      • Package is "smuggled" (or transported some way whatever) from China to HK by some unnamed courier and in HK DHL receives it. And it may take few days for this.

  • Dang.. just bought Redmi Note 5 from previous deal… and it’s still not delivered yet :(

How’s this phone compare to that one?

    • +1

      Lol… hindsight is a bi@$h… isn’t it?

    • +2

This one has no headphone jack.

    • How much did you pay for the note 5?

    • +1

redmi note 5 is suppose to be great value, camera rivals the samsung s7 and the processor is more than enough, i believe they are going for around $300 on aliexpress

but yeah not sure how much better this one is, im guessing this is their flagship… i suspect the note 5 is the better value

      • +1

Don't you mean the Pro though, the one with dual cameras? The non-pro variant has the old Snapdragon 625 SoC. About the camera rivaling that of the Galaxy S7, that seems highly unlikely.

        • +2

could be the pro, theres a decent video on youtube from techtablets who compared the two.. its pretty close, better dynamic range but worse in lower light conditions, it's pretty close

heres a link which i admit i haven't watched, i watched his review of the phone which only covered the camera for a breif period
          https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=muGQvPg_kgE

        • +2

The Chinese Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 (non pro) has 2 cameras with Snapdragon 636. The Indian Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro is pretty much the exact same thing as the Chinse Xiaomi Redmi Note 5, but with more ram. The camera is really comparable with the Galaxy S7 from my research!

The Indian Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 which is the device you're referring to, has a single camera with Snapdragon 625.

Really confusing names considering they're both called Xiaomi Redmi Note 5! Just different regions = different specs and camera

        • +2

@18: And here I thought Samsung was king when it came to bamboozling us with too many devices.

        • +1

          @albert0pia:

whoever named it like that should be working somewhere else!

        • Yeah I bought the one with dual vertical camera similar to iPhone X. Bought the 64gb version for AU$300.

Screen size is very similar to mi mix2, processor is newer but lower class (I presume its like i5 vs i7).
Other than that, mix2 don’t have any significant advantage on paper. That’s why I’m asking if anyone know the difference.

Email only price, was there a promo code or something?

        • @sajju:

I got the same email last night and it's USD…. @meego, click the email link then check the settings at top of subsequent web page, default price is shown in USD

        • @singlefished: @meego: meego i think it is US$ i cant find anywhere cheaper.

          @singlefished:
You are right. I never clicked on the link to go to the site. My mistake everyone. Please disregard my comment. It is in fact in USD :(
          Sorry for the confusion.

  • Thinking about getting this for my mum; she's asking if there's a hard-case similar to the 'Lifeproof' one's available for western phones?

That would seal the deal if anyone can point in the right direction.

  • +4

    I don't need this I don't need this I don't need this

  • +1

Front cam is at the bottom right. If you're into selfies or video calls may want to look elsewhere.

    • +1

If you open the camera app and switch to front facing cam, it will literally say "turn the phone around"

Not sure if this works for Snapchat or 3rd party camera apps though

  • Anyone know if the store this is from is legit?

    • Legit…. Type in "Eternal Team" in the search box at the top of this page and you'll see past deals going back years.

  • if this had a bigger battery and was the 128 gb version I would have jumped despite being happy with my mi5s plus! Good deal for those actually in the market for a phone though :)

  • +1

Price is up to $399.99 US now.

    • Thanks mate, It was good while it lasted… I'll mark as expired :)

  • Thanks to kimovil.com

The price is still available from this store. Don't know how reliable they are.

    https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Global-Version-Xiaomi-Mix-2-…

    • Customer reviews and photos look like a mixture of global and China versions being shipped in the past…. chargers and cables different colours and some packaging has Chinese writing.

I couldn't find any issues with photos/reviews in original Eternal Team listing so might be getting a Chinese version with global rom installed by this seller.

Still a good price though, make sure you say "must" be original global version with English packaging in the note to seller when paying :)

  • How much can you buy this for in China? My brother will be over there next week.

    • Don't even border. Very difficult to get global version inside China. So you will get a China version which need patching to have Google working.

  • I've removed the expiry…. dropped their price back again :)

  • If I remember correctly. Xiaomi only keep one model per segment in production. So looks like everyone is frogging off mix2 to get ready of the mix2s. Just my two cents….

BTW if it wasn't for the position of the front camera. I would have buy this straight away.

  • By the time they arrived , the normal bargain price already depreciated about this price as most people will consider 2s instead. 2s is much better now , even better than the iPhone X.

  • Argh, (profanity) me dead, it's expired? :( Was about to pull the trigger.

  • The Mi Mix 2S GLOBAL edition is ONLY the 256GB version. That is supposed to have Band 28. This was mentioned in the Xiaomi launch video and on android authority or android central. We need to wait till all models are released and specs are correct online for each model if you want Band 28 in Aus.

  • I have a shipping ref from DHL however they haven't picked up the parcel.

  • Mine arrived today…… well impressed :)

    • How was your delivery tracking? Mine's said "Shipment information received" for the past week and I'm a bit concerned they haven't sent it out yet even though they say they have. Ordered on the same day as you and DHL too.

      • I'm the same. It hasn't moved. Note they did say that it would take 3-5 business days before the DHL site is updated.

When it really started to get moving it moved pretty quick!!!

    • Oh wow, it really did move quick haha.

Mine's still on the first step. Shipment info received at 11.38.

Hopefully it's just a matter of DHL not having updated their database. I know it hasnt been that long, I'm probably just impatient because I'm excited lol

      • I'm sure it'll be here soon mate…. I too was excited but also worried it was going to come with a Chinese ROM :)

It's genuine Global ROM though and is quality hardware… smaller than I was expecting ~ these YouTube reviewers must have small hands!

        • As I had guessed/hoped, 6 days after shipping information received, my parcel has just been picked up!

Hoping it arrives tomorrow arvo, same as your shipping time!

Just wondering, did you get an AU plug or the EU one advertised?

        • @Supramitch:

I just received my DHL text message informing me that it departed HK this morning. Hopefully it arrives by Friday

        • @Supramitch:

EU plug in the sealed box with an AU adaptor thrown into the packaging.

I haven't used them though…. have been using my Blitzwolf QC3.0 charger and cables exclusively :)

  • FYI: it needs a signature on delivery so make sure someone is home or it'll be delayed

    • You can fill in an online form to authorise to leave. I did that and mine was delivered at 9:17am

  • Just received mine with pretty much the same schedule as above, quite impressed.
