    This is the 2017 version. The one that was on sale for $22 was the original Gear VR which is not compatible with anything released after the S7 edge. The original edition also doesn't come with a controller.

    Gear VR has Occulus tracking which supposedly makes it a lot better than Cardboard or other "any phone" VR devices.

  It doesn't list the model number but this is most likely the SM-R324 version (the SM-R324 and SM-R325 were both released in 2017)

  The important thing to note is that the Note 8 does not work with the SM-R324 version but the S9/Plus should work with the SM-R324 version.

  I had this model before to use with my S7. Thing I didn't like about it (and not sure if the same applies to latter models) is I had to remove my phone from its case whenever I used the headset. Just something to keep in mind I guess.

  Just bought one from Telstra store in Bondi junction,NSW for $99, and yes it is Note8 compatible one(SM-R325). Might be worth to check your local Telstra store.
