the mrs is crazy, help me.

    • +2

      It's not you, it's me.
At least that is what she tells me during our secret rendezvous sessions.

  • +8

Ozbargain mentality : BARGAIN - so buy now, worry later.
I'll get the free counselling, then find a partner to have that relationship.

BARGAIN - so buy now, worry later.

Don't use that logic with prostitutes.

      • You're only ever renting with a prostitute though.

Just remember; If your the man in the relationship, it's your fault.

Lesbian relationships, the only time in a relationship when both partners can be always right.

    RA is notoriously anti-male.
    Tread carefully.

    • +3

As a previous employee, it’s not true.

      • +2

A page in the doctine guide I acquired:

The first priority for RA when assisting in marriage separation is to ensure the woman is empowered
( a word or two may be different)

Also the opinion of many mental health professionals behind closed doors.

To clarify, i say this only about RA Victoria

This might be taken out of context and to do with the DV rates in australia reported (9:1)

        • @superroach:

What does DV have to do with relationship counselling?

If there is DV involved then you can report to police for free

          @Happy501:

Being pro women is not being anti men yknow.

Just because I love dogs… doesn't mean I hate cats.

  • Good post

If your relationship requires counselling, a freebie session is going to do what exactly?

    • +1

It's going to let you know that you need further sessions for $50 per 50 minutes.

    • It doesnt has to be relationship counselling. It could be individual counselling.

      • The point is that if you need counselling it's rarely going to be just one quick session. And if you need a lot of sessions, one for free isn't even going to make a dent in what you have to spend.

Of all the things you should try to find a bargain for, a single counselling session isn't one. And I'm dubious about why you'd put this on Ozbargain.

        • +1

Well this is work off the one session counselling model.

Plus we can't expect everything to be free anyway. How does one make money to survive?

        • @NETBEAR:

I'm not expecting anything to be free. I just think this particular offer is pointless at best. At worst it reminds me of "first hit is free, kid".

        • +1

so could be said about free month of spotify, netflix, google music…. It's a way business let people try the service before they willing to pay for it.

        • @NETBEAR:

Comparing mental health services to entertainment services is not giving me much confidence in your service. You may provide a service but you have to understand that people go to you at their most vulnerable and there is little room for predatory behaviour in your field.

As an aside: It's the same with charities. I don't donate to a charity to keep people employed or make a CEO rich. That's not why they're suppose to be there. Yet I have heard charity workers argue they should be highly paid. No.

Would love to see your stats on how many relationships are salvaged. Not that it is always right to salvage a relationship, but quite frankly while individuals might need help dealing with a breakup, it is my view that relationship counselling has little value if it's not an attempt to salvage a relationship, or at least work out if that's possible. Frankly, if you're not helping couples, your service is parasitic.

        • @syousef:

To be fair to counselling remotely, there are thousands of letters written by people seeking help from people like Jung, Freud and many others. The letters are remarkable to this day.
It may not be Hollywood, but if done WELL it can assist.

        • @Happy501:

There is a difference between counselling and getting some advice.

We could get into a whole debate about Freud the sex-crazed quack and Jung the nutter who only wrote about Alchemy from 1940 onwards.

          https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carl_Jung#Alchemy
          https://www.nationalreview.com/2017/12/sigmund-freud-fake-ch…

A good therapist isn't going to be using century old pseudo-science. Real life isn't Fraiser (the sitcom).
