    • nah that's cashback, this one is different

    • +1

      Thats what i was thinking
This is like a bonus on a bonus
Not that im complaining, just delays a churn

  • -5

Id rather my stolen personal information was given back

    • +4

Well, the horses bolted from Optus + SA Govt hacks, so Medibank's leak was the 3rd time for me (that I know of). That's the world we live in now.

      • gotta be in it to win it

  • Thank OP

  • Thanks OP, I did not know about this.

  • +5

Thanks OP. Wasn't easy to spot on the app.

    • +1

Even though it's on the front page lol. I went straight to earn more.

      • Lol Same.

  • Thanks OP, activated

  • Thanks OP

  • Thanks. Although I don’t know if any of the rewards are good…..

    • +3

Apple Watch or use towards payment of your premium

      • +1

yup - do $200 premium payment, then a month or 2 later $100 premium payment - both in Financial Year 25/26

        • Why FY 25/26?

      • Is the Apple Watch actually good value for the points? I also don't know what to use the points on…

        • +2

Yes, from my experience, the rate for the Apple Watch is generally 100pts = $1 value or thereabouts, similar to the gift card options.

Using points towards premium payments doesn't seem like a good deal in comparison - it looks like 125pts = $1 value if you choose to do that.

          • @lint: Also depends how much you can sell it for.

I have been using the premium reward as I CBF selling something for a bit more.

    • +2

      Free is free :D

I dont mind an additional $50 iconic gift card or two 😀

      Thanks OP!

    • +3

I had a day procedure in hospital and with a $500 excess, I could use my rewards to reduce the excess to only $250. Win/win, as that also means my premiums are cheaper with the $500 excess.

  • Thanks OP.

"This activation also applies for other eligible members 16 years or over on your policy. Points will be credited to their Live Better rewards accounts". That good I guess, not just once per account, but for every member.

    • How do other members get an account if I am the policy holder?

      • +1

Login to medibank using their name/identity thats on the card, setting up a new account if they need to

      • I had to get in contact with support and have them link emails and phone numbers to the other members first, after that they were able to create their own accounts.

  • Thanks OP, I also saw the offer on the homepage of my Medibank app

  • Would this count towards the annual point limit of 40k? I reach this annual point limit regardless of this offer anyway so if this does count towards the limit it means these extra points are kind of worthless anyway.

    • That's kind of the point I suppose. I wonder how long it will take to actually get the points. I was going to churn, now I want my points! In reality it's only a week of policy payment, but it might take them 8 weeks to credit them…

    • When you reach the point cap, can you simply use the points and then collect more?

      • I think it's an earning per year cap rather than total points. I have had over 50K at times.

Thanks OP hardly ever go into the app these days.

        • How to get those points?

        • I’m sitting at 71k points at the moment. Waiting till September to get a new Apple Watch 😁

    • How do you get so many? Spending from other connected ones?

      • +1

I hit the limit every year, just use the app and log your 'exercise' each week/do the challenges and you should get to the limit within the year

      • Originally the signup bonus, my Fitbit was connected for activity and was gaming the challenges for the first year.

Also had issues using a Fitbit voucher that cost 25k points so as a gesture of goodwill refunded the points then the voucher worked.

    • The ozbargain idea is you would have churned way before you hit 40,000 points cap anyway. So this 5000 works out to be additional 😃😃

Reminder to wait until 30/June for the bonus before churning…

  • thx OP. What if I switch to other funds before the points delivery date?

    • +1

Then you wouldn't get the points is the obvious answer

  • Thks for this - found in app and activated!

  • Thanks OP. This takes me to the annual point cap of 40k. I applauded myself for not being unnecessarily active and wasting points!

    • When you reach the point cap, can you simply use the points and then collect more?

      • Nope unfortunautely. 40K cap is on points earned in a year. Spending the points does not reset earning limits.

        • When does it reset for the year? When you first day of the premium? 31/12? EOFY?

          • +1

@Eskibar: Resets 1st of Jan. Done on calender year.

  • +1

    Thanks Op

  • Thanks OP, "I feel better now"

  • Thanks OP, couldn't see it at first but updated the app and it appeared :)

  • Redeemed, thanks OP

  • -1

Does this count towards the 40K cap annually on points earned? Then it's no bonus at all.

Think I'm missing something, can you only sign up for this if you have a Medibank Policy already? Sign up is asking for membership number…
(Apologies, not origionally from Aus so Medibank is new to me)

    • +1

      Its in the title:

      "for Eligible Members"

      • Cheers, definitely need to open my eyes more lol!

  • Thanks OP!

  • Isn’t this a downgrade from giving out actual cash cashbacks to now points?

    • I received a sms saying I’m getting cash back a month or so ago. Still waiting though. Think it comes in July

      • So you got both this and the cashback?

        • Well. That’s still to be seen. But seems so.

    • +1

Per the email that I received today

The Live Better rewards points are in addition to the cash back amount for which you may be eligible under Medibank’s Give Back program.

      • -1

        Thanks!

Is there another cash back amount scheduled for later this year? I may recall wrongly but I vaguely remember receiving an email about this.

        • +1

Yes up to $50 by September

I thought they were being sneaky and changed the terms from $50 cash back to $50 points/gift card voucher… but seems they are separate

  • Wow found it, thank you!

  • If I just joined Medibank and received 50k livebetter points from a previous deal, can I still get this 5k points? I am unsure about the 40k annual cap that the others have mentioned.

  • Thanks got it, sending you blessing.

  • Thanks OP - good deal!

  • -4

So this is only for current paying Medibank customers? Is there a free tier of Medibank?

  • So I’m at 35k points. Used my $200 and $100 premium. If I churned away and came back in 6 month will my points still be there?

    • Yes it will. Your policy number will change but your points will still be accessible on your return.

      • -1

        Nice! So points don't expire?

        • Not sure about that. I switched to bupa for 4 months and then came back, points were in tact.

  • Thank you for this! Much appreciated!

  • Do we know this is in addition to minimum $50 cashback? Medibank is offering provided your account is active 30.6 https://www.medibank.com.au/health-insurance/info/coronaviru…
